will this method be entitled to the 5% cash back? or is it just DBKL not part of "bill payments / gov body" or what...?
I would like to know if someone already experienced... thanks ><

You can try and update us. Or just do what I did, pay DBKL on UOBPayonline.

I'm planning to terminate by MBB 2 Cards Plat as I almost have zero usage of it these days. Same goes for the CIMB Cash Back.

In return, I would like to take the PBB Visa Sig. and RHB World Mastercard on top of the UOB One card I have, is this advisable?

Lastly, can I request for a reduction to my credit? I think they gave me a stupidly high amount based on my income but I have almost no need for that, or just let it be?
*
First of all, you may provide more info on your usage on credit cards so that others can assist you in determining the correct cards.

As for credit limit reduction, you may do so if you feel unsecured about the high limit. Plus, it helps if you plan to apply loans or more credit cards in the future.

Primarily focused on cash back as I don't really see the benefits of any other types of card. Or at least those I know of. Free annual fee as well.

On the second point, can you elaborate further on what you mean if helps if I plan to apply loans or more credit cards?
*
You may post here https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3644347. Just follow the format.

About my 2nd point, if you free up some credit limit, it will improve your chances of approval for credit cards, car loan, housing loan etc, as you will still have some quota left in your credit assessment / debt ratio, iinm. Maybe others can further explain to you as I am no expert tongue.gif

Make sure you use cards which give benefits for groceries category and if you are going to do this for long term, apply a membership card for only RM 12 lifetime and get RM 10 voucher. RM 1 = 1 point, 1000 points can exchange for one RM 10 voucher but voucher cannot be used to pay bills and reload TnG. Apply first before doing any transactions.

Got it. Thanks.

Why credit cards always earn less cash back than advertised

Good read though most of the things mentioned here, the seasoned users know already. tongue.gif I can even guess which cards were mentioned in the article. laugh.gif

Thanks for sharing. Too bad they didn't mention LYN since this is the most fastest and most accurate first-hand info from the forumers laugh.gif

In fact, I suspect the writer did get his source from this section. It's like the tips and tricks we have shared here, so it's not a surprise if we "contributed" to this article. laugh.gif

Let's play guessing game. Which cards are these?
1) Some cash back is only given if you buy at a certain store where it is “up to” 6% on spend at these two stores. The cashback is also tiered and capped.
-HSBC Amanah?

2) Banks will try to make you pay for your own cash back by asking for an annual fee. Make sure your cashback weighs up against the annual fee. For example, a bank card will cost you RM265 in annual fees, but allows you to earn RM840 in petrol cashback.
-Which card gives RM 70 per month for cash back? hmm.gif

The rest of the cards mentioned in the article are pretty easy to guess. laugh.gif

The first one is HLB The Store & Pacific card & the second one is StandChart Just One Platinum card biggrin.gif

Seems like the way to go when I have more commitments in the near future. Currently on hand-me-downs and accumulating wealth.

Thanks for the tips though, deity01

1. Pay through counter with retail cashback cards like SCB Gold, HLB Essential, HLB Fortune, Alliance You:nique, OCBC 365 etc. Effective CB is 0.6% - 3.33%.

2. Pay through counter with Aeon CC, then pay back through PosOnline with online cashback cards. Effective CB is around 3% - 3.7%. But do take into consideration of the recent PosOnline event, where quite a number of payments gone missing.

Dear Sifu,

Soon I may have to spend a lump sum swipe of RM10k+ to RM30K+ in one go.

If I can use a Credit Card, what credit card is ideal for such transaction to get the maximum benefit ?

I already have a few cash back card, but its monthly limit is rather, well, limited.
Thank you.
*
1. What type of transaction or where you want to swipe it?
2. What cash back cards do you current possess?
3. You may swipe to get CB then do BT after that.

1. House downpayment & attending educational course.
2. the Usual range: AEON Big gold, UOB Vox, PB VS, HL Wise... (thats right, kena poisoned by the forum )
3. Whats BT ?  Sorry...
*
Do these 2 merchants allow multiple-card payment or online payment? If yes, use those online cash back cards, if not, consider Alliance You:Nique, HLB Essential, SCB Gold etc, if only 1 card, I would go for HLB Essential (unlimited cashback, first RM1k 0.6%, after that 1%).

BT is balance transfer, where you can transfer the balance of the card(s) that you have swiped for that RM40K to another card that offer 0% interest, such as Aeon and PBB cards and repay them over a period of time. Read more here
