QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Jan 29 2016, 11:16 AM) I think now that the cash-rich TNI is seriously upping their capabilities, some players in the region will start to get nervous. Probably Malaysia will also, but I doubt we'd bother as much as we don't have the means to spend that much cash to match them in the first place. yeah, we no have strong "political will" to built strong defense capability。and turn defense become politic firearm This post has been edited by waja2000: Jan 29 2016, 11:28 AM

QUOTE(hypervisor @ Jan 29 2016, 11:20 PM) typhoon tranche 3 is the one that having crazy pricetag priced at €90mil, due to its capability to carry multiple ground attack missiles including cruise missile RMAF just need air-superiority@interceptor fighter which can be offered by tranche 1 variant, not full blown Multi-role fighter like tranche 3 variant who said RMAF just need air-superiority@interceptor fighter ? i would said RMAF looking on multirole fighter that why project call MRCA。 for current new situation in regional defense issue, i don't think RMAF just need limited role fighter.

Kuwait Fails to Sign Typhoon Contract
(Source: compiled by Defense-Aerospace.com; published Feb 02, 2016) PARIS --- Kuwait failed Jan 31 to sign a contract to buy 28 Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft from the Italian government, raising questions about its commitment to a deal it initialled in September and which at the time was due to be sealed “in a matter of weeks.”
An Italian industry source confirmed that the contract had not been signed, but said that the Italian side was “very positive” about the agreement, and expressed confidence it would be signed “sooner rather than later.”
A spokesman for Finmeccanica declined comment Feb. 02.
Although the Jan. 31 date had not been officially confirmed for the signature, it was leaked to several Italian media by unidentified “defense ministry sources,” leading to widespread expectations it would take place in Kuwait. Italian Defense Minister Roberta Pinotti was preparing to travel to Kuwait for the ceremony.
This is not the first time the contract signature has been put off; according to Italian media, the causes are unspecified “procedural reasons,” the choice of lightweight anti-ship missile; or disagreement as to where Kuwait’s Typhoon pilots would be trained, depending on which report one believes.
In parallel to the repeated delays in contract signature, the Kuwaiti air force chief has been publicly plugging the Boeing F-18E/F Super Hornet, which Kuwait was planning to buy before unexpectedly opting for the Typhoon, a reversal that some observers interpret as a negotiating ploy to encourage the US government to authorize the sale, which it has blocked for the past two years.
No new date had been set for the contract signature.

QUOTE(xtemujin @ Feb 12 2016, 08:44 PM) The RMAF A400M has touched down in Singapore for the 2016 Singapore Airshow, so far no photos yet. I'm not sure when will the RMAF SU30MKM and the support team will arrive in Singapore. Cheers. A400M fly to Singapore Airbase is from Gong Kedah Airbase, means A400M carry Su30MKM support team and tools required. so they can prepare before Su-30MKM arrive later.

QUOTE(thpace @ Feb 14 2016, 11:04 PM) Have anyone wonder why we didnt get a dedicated long ranger mid air refuel tanker especially when we is a country divided into two? Well c130 and a400 can do the job but it is not permanent solution? Malaysia have any plan for it? i admit refuel tanker is new requirement for current/new generation air-force and plane like A330 MRTT not only for tanker, but also for transportation, our defense force so many UN mission in oversea, so we no need rely on MAS/AA (plan transportation) anyway still matter off no budget and not priority ... from kuantan AB to kuching/Labuan AB just about 850km and 1400km, still within our fighter ferry range. i see we need new milti role auxiliary/support ship to support logistic 2 side country. QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Feb 17 2016, 09:59 AM) MMEA set to receive new Patrol vessels by 2018This is serious money right there, around $180 million USD for 2 coast guard ships. I wonder what he is talking about? i dont see any problem 2 unit OPV class with $180m. 90mil for each OPV is ok which over 1000 tons & with helicopter pad.

QUOTE(MilitaryMadness @ Feb 17 2016, 11:20 AM) Probably OPVs made for Naval duties are ok for that price range, but for coast guard duties? Well Navy spec OPV much expensive will at +-$200mil or more unless we get China shipyard built OPV, no problem get below $90mil

QUOTE(KLboy92 @ Feb 18 2016, 09:55 PM) Don't think got so teruk lah. Seoul is quite a bit beyond most tube artillery range y'know and even most multiple missile artillery tops at about 60-80km. So what Seoul might face would be SRBMs, the longer ranged Grad missiles and maybe the biggest howitzers NK have unless they invade and successfully set up ALL their artillery inside SK with no interference from SK air/arty... which is highly unlikely. agree, well Seoul just about 36-45km to NK border, very danger from NK multiple missile artillery possible have range 30-40km which can launch from NK border, anyway SK have air superiority from F15/Apache, advance Aegis ship carry land attack, advance spy satelite/UAV/AEW&C so depend who fire first and how quick SK destroy those multiple missile artillery and SRBM. also Korea gov already move to Sejong administrative capital city, about 100km from Seoul, reduce SK gov risk being attack by NK.

QUOTE(James831 @ Feb 29 2016, 09:53 AM) I wonder why the aussie can't achieved final operational capability for the Tiger attack helicopter even after 8 years? Is it suppliers problem? Customers problem? Or combination of both? they buy first batch as customize reconnaissance spec to replace OH-58, with limited unit, some parts are slow and some need send back to euro to repair. so serviceability is low. by right they can get mid life upgrade on 2020, but they give up, plan replace small reconnaissance helicopter like Ah-6i or MD-530G which more and easy fit in C-17 If our Army plan getting it, we should upgrade to Tiger HAD /HAD II spec which is full Attack Helicopter spec, widely use by France (also Spain) in Mali and Afghanistan. plus Airbus have south east Asia parts center, and service center, support should no big issue.
