The Mig-31 crashed in the Krasnoyarsk region while performing a training flight. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry. The fighter jet fell in a wooded area around 40 kilometers northwest of the town of Kansk.

An Egyptian F-16 fighter jet has crashed during a military exercise, killing its crew, the military said in a statement early on Thursday.

The statement did not specify a death toll or provide the cause or location of the incident.

Ahram Arabic news website reported that two were killed in the crash, the pilot and a captain. They were aged 48 and 42, it added.

SARGODHA - An unmanned aircraft of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) crashed after a technical glitch developed in it, here on Saturday.

Sources said that the drone was on a routine flight in the 106-northern area of Sargodha when it encountered a mechanical fault and crashed.

PAF officials and police reached the crash site after getting information of the incident. The personnel cordoned off the area. A large number of locals also gathered at the crash site.

A predator drone belonging to the U.S. military crashed in a field after taking off from the İncirlik Air Base in the southern province of Adana early on Feb. 3.

Authorities conducted examinations in the field where the drone crashed in the Doğankent neighborhood of Yüreğir district, some 20 kilometers from the İncirlik Air Base. Police took security measures at the scene and two trailer trucks were brought to the area to transport the drone back to the military base.

In an official statement on its website, the 39th Comptroller Squadron announced that the MQ-1 Predator crashed at 1:40 a.m. on Feb. 3 due to a “mechanical breakdown.”

“According to initial evaluations, there was a mechanical breakdown with the drone. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident with certainty,” the statement said.

JAKARTA, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Three people were confirmed dead when an Indonesian air force jet crashed from mid-air into a housing area in East Java's Malang on Wednesday morning.

The pilot, Major Ifi Safatilah, and a flight engineer, Saiful, died instantly as they reportedly ejected themselves out of the Super Tucano aircraft which crashed into a house at around 10 a.m., said Major Hamdi Londong, spokesman for the Abdul Rahman Saleh air force base.

A woman, who has been identified as Erna Wahyuningtyas and was in the house when the Brazilian-made jet crashed, didn't survive the injuries despite being taken to a hospital in Malang city, a local media also reported.

The deadly incident occurred during a flight test following routine maintenance on the aircraft. It crashed when it was coming down close to the base in Malang city.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Four Myanmar military personnel have been killed and one injured when an air force utility aircraft crashed after taking off from the airport in the capital Naypyitaw.

An Information Ministry statement identified the aircraft, which crashed Wednesday morning in a rice field about a mile (1.6km) from the airport, as a Beech 1900, a 19-passenger twin-engine turboprop no longer in production. Photos of the crashed plane showed that most of its fuselage had burned up.

The office of the Myanmar army commander identified the dead passengers as one major, two captains and a corporal, and said the sole survivor was another corporal who has been hospitalised.

GUJRANWALA: A Pak Army aircraft on a training mission crashed near Gujranwala district of Punjab Tuesday evening, killing both the crew members on board.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the aircraft was on a training flight and both the crew members, instructor pilot Major Azhar and trainee pilot Captain Ahmed lost their lives in the crash.

The senior pilot, Major Azhar was about to get married later this month.

The crash is the latest deadly accident to hit Pakistan's military.

In November last year, a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) plane crash left a female pilot dead, when her training flight crashed near Mianwali.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday the crash of a Mi-8 military helicopter in northwestern Russia killed four servicemen on board.

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) — The helicopter crashed in the Pskov region during a routine training flight, and caught fire.

"According to a report by a search-and-rescue team, which arrived at the Mi-8 crash site, three crew members and a technician-instructor died in the crash," the ministry said in a statement.

A source said earlier that the body of one crew member had been found near the crash site.

"Another three bodies were found at the crash site," the source told RIA Novosti.

The plane crashed due to a technical failure while conducting air strikes against Islamic State.

A military aircraft crashed into a river near Andong on South Korea's southeastern coast, local authorities said Thursday.

Rescue teams and firefighters said that two crew members of the stricken plane escaped and are safe.

The T-11 biplane crashed around 12:05 p.m. near the Gyeongbuk Institute for Bio-industry. The crash was only a few hundred meters away from a village.

The two air force pilots were on their way back to the base in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, after flight duty, according to authorities.

The ill-fated plane was not critically damaged and there was no fuel spill due to the emergency landing, authorities said.

They said engine problems may have caused the plane to fall from the sky, although the exact reason for the mishap needs to be identified.

ATHENS (Reuters) - A Greek navy helicopter crashed early on Thursday off the small island of Kinaros in the eastern Aegean Sea, killing a crew of three, a Greek Defence Ministry official said.

"The Agusta Bell helicopter was taking part in a military exercise. It had taken off from a frigate sailing in the area and disappeared from radar around 0045 GMT. Wreckage has been found near Kinaros," the official said.

Kinaros is an islet near the island of Amorgos.

The official said Turkey had issued a Notice to Airmen saying the Greek rescue operation was within its maritime search and rescue region and that all efforts should be coordinated with Turkish authorities.

Just four days after a Libyan Air Force MiG 23 plane was shot down or crashed near Derna, another plane has either crashed or been shot down in the city of Benghazi.

Five soldiers from the UN peacekeeping force were killed Friday when a car bomb and mortar fire in Kidal in northern Mali. Thirty others were injured, reports Reuters. Probably sit Muslim extremists behind the attack on the UN base.

According to Olivier Salgado, a spokesman for the UN mission MINUSMA, eight mortar shells were fired at the base. Three of the five deaths are from Guinea, the other dead and wounded identity is not yet known.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — A South Korean military helicopter crashed in an eastern province on Monday, killing three of the four soldiers on board, officials said.

The helicopter went down in a farming field in the city of Chuncheon in the eastern province of Gangwon during a checkout flight, defense and army officials said.

The officials said that all four soldiers aboard the helicopter were initially rescued after the crash, but that three of them died while being treated in hospitals.

They said no casualties on the ground have been reported. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity, citing department rules.

Somali rebel group al-Shabab says it has seized an armed drone after it crashed in Somalia's southern Gedo region.

The unmarked drone, which the group said was armed with six missiles, came down in the hilly Buuraaha Sanda'ar region, about 60km northwest of the town of Baardhere on Sunday evening, in an area controlled by the al-Qaeda-linked armed group.

The drone wreckage and the six missiles were retrieved by the rebel group, an al-Shabab commander told Al Jazeera on Monday.

"It crashed away from civilian areas. Our fighters took it away and we have safely removed the missiles from the drone," Sheikh Abdirahman Abu Mohamed, the group's Gedo governor told Al Jazeera.

A Gedo government official and a Kenyan security source stationed in the town of Baardheere both confirmed the crash to Al Jazeera.

It is not clear what brought down the drone and no country has claimed it.

An Iraqi military helicopter crashed south of Baghdad on Tuesday killing nine people due to a "technical problem", a security spokesman said.

"A military helicopter of the Mi-17 type crashed because of a technical problem," killing its crew of nine, two of them officers, Brigadier General Yahya Rasool told AFP.

The Soviet-designed helicopter, which is intended for transport but can also be equipped with weapons, was en route from Iraq's main southern city of Basra to the city of Kut, southeast of Baghdad, Rasool said.

A Kut police captain said the crash occurred in an area east of the city.

One Bell IA-407 from 21st Armed Reconnaissance Squadron has been shot down near Amiriyat Al-Fallujah.

The two crew members, Major Ahmed Nehru and 1st Lieutenant Oumid, was killed.

A military drone operated by US forces in Afghanistan has crashed in the southern province of Kandahar. Washington has dismissed the possibility of the unmanned aerial vehicle being shot by hostile fire.

The $14m worth UAV came down in an airfield, said the US Air Force. There were neither injuries to personnel nor damage to facilities due to the crash.

US Air Force authorities will investigate the cause of the crash but hostile fire was not a factor," reads a statement issued by Captain Bryan Bouchard of the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing, which oversees air force operations in Bagram and Kandahar airfields. The crashed drone was a cutting-edge MQ-9 Reaper UAV.

US forces have recently intensified their drone campaign which has a mixed record. A similar drone crashed at the same location in November 2015.

The MQ-9 Reaper, designed as a sophisticated hunter-killer machine, can be operated from a remote location. The UAVs can carry a payload of up to 1,700kgs including state-of-the-art Hellfire missiles and laser-guided bombs.
