Downside is you would have any FD slip with you when you place a deposit like you do with other conventional banking methods. Im sure older people like your parents will freak out when they dont get the Fixed Deposit certificates that comes with the FD placement.  laugh.gif

you're right lo ...

my parents don't trust online banking. Won't do FD without cert. sad.gif

don't know how to convince them.

You can screenshot and print out your online account for them to view.

no use lo ...

they are worried that money might disappear without trace. Like no proof etc. sad.gif

so they usually go to branch for FD, which waste a lot of time and money.

when I think of Citibank, I think of credit cards.

I think they're not active in the field of savings and FDs...

RHB normally do not pay interest over Sat/Sun and holidays. But this time as the amt is big, have asked them last week. Today went to see the officer. She calculated and paid me the 3 days interest. rclxms.gif Thanks to our lady.

just so share. you may actually open a GIA-i account via Maybank2u. No promo rate of 4.5% but 4% instead. as usual minimum 5k for 1 month and 1k for the rest. still higher than normal board fd rate for those who don't mind regarding PIDM

Maybank got 4% for 1month placement?

So, the FD 4.5% for HLBB for 6mths if RM 10,000 = RM 450 per month?
*
after you multiply 4.5% with RM 10k, the amount you get is PER YEAR, not per month.

so if you place 6 months, divide by 2 lo...

Second, people in USD/MYR thread have already shown that putting in malaysia FD for 10 years will match the decline in MYR against the USD. Unless of course if one were to change last year, is a different story. So moral of the story is those people who have been putting  in malaysia FD for 10 years gain the same amount as those people who change RM-USD 10 years ago and hold USD cash.
*
have to put in FD for 10 years to match this decline?? rclxub.gif

I suppose it depends when you changed. If you changed 2 years ago, now you already profit from it.

hello, I need some professional advice from forumers here.

I wan to open a FD account with HLB under their promotion with 4.5% p.a., 6 months, but also considering Foreign current account in maybank which min deposit is USD 1k.

Was thinking since MYR is depreciating, perhaps foreign current account can help to keep the cash as long term.

what is the best to go to? I can only go for one ><

thank you very muchieee ~~

store in USD??? you think USD will strengthen even more?? to $1 = RM5 meh??? hmm.gif

and Maybank charges $4 per transaction, I think. cry.gif
