Again, what you mean by interest will not be added to principal amount?
*
With 5 years FD, you will need to open a SA. Interest will be given every 6 months or monthly (if you are more than 50 years old - some FD) into that SA. The interest will never be added to your original amount

What? Lady at bank say to me, FD will always be taking my interest, campur balik to principal. You say now, after 5 years no more like this wan?
*
That is for 1-12months year FD where the instructions is interest add-on and renew at board rates (~3.x%). For > 1 year FD, usually one need to open a SA for them to give you the interest.

Bro, never say never  tongue.gif

Last month I mentioned here that Affin Bank renewed my matured FD and gave me their Promo rate of 4.2% 12 months. All I had to do was talk to the Service Manager.

For UOB case - yesterday I had 1 FD maturing and another 3 next week. My RM told me that she will request 4.5% 12 months for all 4 FDs and within 15 minutes she told me that she had received approval from HQ for all 3 FDs. I am sure you are aware that UOB current promo is 4.4% for 12 months (if not, see Post#1). Therefore, I got higher than their "official advertised" Promo rate!

You and I not same playing field what. doh.gif whistling.gif

Me have no Priority status with any bank and will never apply for any of their Priority status (waste of my money). laugh.gif

QUOTE(matow @ Dec 22 2015, 04:26 PM)
I just received a call from Hong Leong Bank sales person. She claims to be offering a new type of Savings Account whereby they can guarantee interest rates of 7 to 8% per annum but with some terms and conditions applied. She requested for a meeting with me tomorrow for a presentation at my office.  I also clearly asked her if this was investment link type of savings but she said no, this is pure savings (almost like FD type) and no risk. I'm intrigued and said that I'll meet her and listen without obligation.
Anyone else got such telephone call from Hong Leong Bank?
*
No banks will give you 7-8% interest. Most likely is bundle with UT.

Priority is good

If you have too much money then ok. If RM250k lock up just for priority status, not worth it when that RM250k (I am using RM250k because most banks need about RM250k) can be earning 10%+ in other investment. But each person is entitle to their own opinions.

Wad investment can guarantee 10% ?? Got risk one wo

Whilst FD is confirm ini macam get payout
*
UT, stocks. I did not say guaranteed. RM250k in FD just to get priority service compare to RM250k in UT? I prefer getting more money than getting entertain first. After all, for me banks only have 4 functions
a) SA
b) FD
c) CC
d) Loans (unless priority service is able to give you lower rates, than is worth it)

For me, 5-15 minutes waiting time, no problem.

Priority status have to pay????? Nvr paid a single sen ....

If you are qualified, I am sure you would jump at the chance because pay less for BC, and can get free stuff. Cos your motto is NEVER GIB BANK FLEE MONEY...hahahah
*
Well you are paying with the amount of interest given compare to what can you get by parking your money somewhere earning double digit almost every year. Let's just say 10% of RM250k vs 4.5% of RM250k. That's a difference of about RM13k. More than enough money to go on vacations.

I will take the RM13k (vacation every year) compare to being a priority customer.

QUOTE(kart @ Dec 26 2015, 07:20 AM)
I placed an FD with 4.6 % interest per annum, in Affin Bank, about one month ago.

Upon FD maturity, can both the principal and interest be automatically transferred to my Affin saving account, without me going to Affin bank again?

The Affin officers could not give me an affirmative answer.
*
It will go in automatically. Just remember to withdraw your principal + interest and hunt for new promo. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Dec 26 2015, 08:37 AM)
I placed this Affin 4.6% FD in late Nov. Was told that on maturity, both principal and interest will go to SA. It seems to be the only option for this FD promo.  biggrin.gif
*
Actually that is what affin have been doing for all their FD promos.

All sifu here,
I gt noob questions to ask.

If Malaysia bankrupt,  all our fd money will wipe out  in our bank.

Scenario :
If i put FD in foreign bank such as OCBC, if Malaysia bankrupt,  can I go to singapore to wirhdraw money in OCBC singapore?
*
Malaysia won't bankrupt but your money become Zimbawe money. (worthless) sad.gif

No. You cannot withdraw from OCBC Singapore. I will give you a quote from unker dreamer (not his exact words but more or less the same meaning) .

"Do not put all your money in Malaysia. Convert to USD at every chance. RM is not going anywhere but downwards. Buy US ETF. You already have EPF which is already 20% of your wealth. Do not put in ASX FP. Holding USD cash is better than holding RM cash"

New FD from "fresh funds" generally requires the depositor to turn up at the bank?

Any bank that allows it to be done online?

You have cimb eFD at 4.3% for 12 months. smile.gif

Ahhh.. I get it.
is it apply to saving account as well?

Mean if I open a ABC bank malaysia , I need to open a ABC bank Singapore in Singapore?

Sorry to ask in this bank FD thread as I do not know which thread discuss about bank matters  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
Hi, no. Eg. You open bank abc in malaysia. But you can withdraw from their local bank xyz arm. There will be a fee charged for each withdrawal

I do not know about whether that applies to like cimb. (eg. Open cimb account in malaysia and withdraw from CIMB sg.) whether they will charge you or not.

Basically, yes, but one can take advantage of various payment system like MEPS, Cirrus (just like Ramjade posted) that indirectly can withdraw small amount of money.
*
So no extra charges for that?

which banks have good services? im currently using pbb. so far its good.. intending to open another.. as maybank sucks... i wanna transfer from maybank out to others.. any recommendation?

hlb and alliance r they good? what abt standard chartered?

cimb n rhb i think shud be out of my radar.
*
For fast service without the need to line up and being serve first (feels like priority customer without being one brows.gif) and if you don't intend to be a priority customer like me tongue.gif = affin bank (the bank is usually empty, that's why is so fast)

For best online banking = Maybank

For nice and comfortable seats + cold Aircon = Cimb

For best savings account interest = Ambank

For most no of atm = Maybank, cimb, bsn

For best FD rates = check first page tongue.gif

For lenglui/lengchai = ask others tongue.gif I never noticed and don't care about it.

Avoid hlb like a plague unless you want to go for their 4.5% FD. Service extremely slow. The other day, system down whole nationwide.shocking.gif They are one of one of the least efficient banks.

These are my opinions. It could defer from others. smile.gif

placed a fd in affin bank with 4.6% unsure.gif

but.... according to officer , only 80% can get 15m 4.6%, remaining 20% max can get 3m 4.3%, after 3m renew will base on board rate.  sad.gif  and since i dont hv affin account, i hv to open a bsa, either rm20 with atm card( rm8 each yr) or rm100 (without atm) , like this, actually shd go for ocbc 12m 4.5%, is better , rite?  whistling.gif
*
Do like me. Open without atm card. After that, just leave only RM20 inside. Don't kena charge anything. Yeah. I agree. Affin's current promo is bad. Better choose Ocbc.

Already placed for the HL 6 mth 4.5%. But since it will be Jan by then, not sure yet if there is any new promo. If OCBC extend the 4.5% promo will go for it.

How about you Mr Kim/Lim ? Have to learn from some one like you, impressive MACH FD shown recently !  notworthy.gif
No need to get ATM card from Affin. If need online account, they can give you a "virtual card" to activate online account.  biggrin.gif
*
Ambank said new promo coming in January. CNY coming soon. So Affin will have their regular CNY promo.

Most banks will never let you placed an existing funds at promo rates. You will have to move your money around if you want their promo rates.
