Thank you. That I know. The question is cheque from company is it counted as banker's cheque/company personal cheque?

Yes I am confused. That's why I am asking. So regarding my question on Mr B, will that be instant or will Mr B need to wait for his FD? Sorry. I am noob in all these cheques. Never had any experience.

I think I understand what Ramjade is trying to say.

A Banker's Cheque is issued by the Bank. you bring money to the bank and purchase a banker's cheque to pay another party. Normally this is considered good for payment because it is issued by a Bank. Banks will normally proceed with FD placement with banker's cheque.

Any cheques issued by anyone, be it company's cheque or personal cheque are sometimes tend to be bounce / returned due to insufficient fund. Banks will normally clear the cheque first to make sure the cheque is valid for payment / having sufficient fund for payment. Only then they will proceed with FD plaement.

Hope this explain the confusion.
*
Yes. Thank you. That's it. So if we get a personal /company cheque, it still needs clearing before can place FD. Needs clearing which means not instantly.

to answer the question, if u used personal or company cheque, u still get the fd cert on the same day, effective same day (bank rakyat is different). if cheque bounced, then fd cancelled, clause in banks t & c.

u have not used personal cheque to place fd? hmm.gif
*
Nope does that surprised you? I told you I am a student. Haven't received a cheque before. I put FD by carrying cash/banker's cheque if the amount is too big.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jan 14 2016, 10:33 PM)
For me, it is a simple convenience. Let's say I want to transfer from Bank A to Bank B. If I want to use online banking, I need to have SA for both banks. Then I need to go to the bank to uplift and deposit to SA (most of my FD are renewed automatically at prevailing rate). No data plan, and even I have it, I don't trust mobile apps. I would not use the outside PCs to perform online transfer either, trust issue. So I need to go home, login, transfer and go to Bank B. So mahfan  laugh.gif As for rentas, I would still need SA for both banks. Apart from that, I am fine with it. Will be trying it out for the first time soon.

p/s anyone know what happen to Boom Cha Cha? MIA liao
*
Smart move. Don't trust outside computer/computer in banks and don't trust mobile apps. Have 2 phones (cheap android phone will do). Install all banking apps into.that phone. Nothing else. Tether Internet from your main phone (turn main phone into WiFi). Don't lose that cheap android phone. tongue.gif
In the west, people use 2 computers. One computer solely for banking and no pendrive will be connected. Nothing on that computer. No word, office no program. Just one antivirus, one browser which will be used to open only the banking page. Nothing else.If want to be even more extreme, can install some antikeylogger program. These are ways everyone should do to keep their banking data safe. Unfortunately you don't see that happening in malaysia. People performing banking on main phone over Starbucks wifi, using same password for emails, FB, banks, put answers to security questions truthfully. doh.gif

I believe he went for some kind of operation or something like that. He keeps talking about health, heart problem.

many banks now offer 50k. if you have much bigger sum, go to bank counter to initiate the transfer and limits will be much higher too. then you don't have to worry about clearing date, bankers or personal, public holiday, etc.
*
You can increase the IBFT limit pass the rm50k mark? shocking.gif

to add to the suggestion by sifus up above, you can look into CIMB FRIA-i. can partial uplift in 1000 multiply.
*
Simple if you put rm50k one shot, if you need the money in the future, your promo rates will be affected.

If you put multiples of rm10k, you will still get the full promo rates interest for the FDs which you did not touch.

Will there come a time where you will use the rm50k for something? If no dump one shot rm50k. If yes, then split it.

Maybe for that particular branch. Was told if i came 1 week earlier, the promo rate was 4.25.

However, as mentioned, i have placed on 06/01 but on the FD cert, it is stated that the date of maturity is 10/02.

***After checking, i think i know why. Weekends and public holiday not included. Do all banks practice this? Another creative way of showing that interest rates are higher than what it should be.

Do you happened to be a priority banking with cimb?

I found HSBC online log in to be the most troublesome. It has 2 layers of log on. Using password (for some login features only) and using security device (which generate random password/digits). For some transaction, you are asked to press the security device again.

That's what the security pros in the west recommend. 2 factor authorization. Wish malaysian banks will implement that and give away free antivirus for banking.

I used that for my main email which is linked to my PayPal. PayPal, fb, emails all come with this feature whether you want to use or not. thumbup.gif

interest earned more than in fd leh.

That's true (EPF by rule must give out 2.5% but generally their interest will always be more than FD). But are you wiling to lock in for xx years? tongue.gif. This year interest some say 5+%, some say less 5%.doh.gif

I told my parents dump into ASX FP first than only taruh EPF seeing that we don't know how much they are giving. EPF is not consistent. sad.gif

If I were you, max out EPF, SSPN to get tax relief. Why want to give so much to...? whistling.gif anymore is up to you to decide tongue.gif

harlo sifus, i just received statement from public bank regarding my fd what i dont get is  my original deposit is Rm3.3k, term: 6m, interest rate :3.3, current balance Rm3831.06

i tried using some online fd calculator.
CODE
http://www.calculator.com.my/fd-savings#.VpzPCfl96Hu
but it turned out to be only 3,354.83, thats almost RM500 difference from what was stated, did they pay me extra?
*
If you are paid extra, faster cash it out before they tarik balik your money. If they ask, you act dumb. You said you guys gave me this amount, how I know is extra. If they ask you where extra went, tell them you took it to getting. brows.gif laugh.gif

Just threaten them you don't give me 4.xx%, I withdraw all my money and go another bank. Other banks willing to give me 4.xx%. Sure work. Cause banks have target to achieve. Imagine you remove 6 digits, they need to find 6 digit to replace the money they lost. Targets are very important for bank workers.

HLb 4.5% 6 mths FD still available? or HLb 4.2% 3 mths FD still available?

If not, what other FD promo is good ?
*
HLB 4.5% 6 months is still there. Don't know for how long.
BSN 4.5% 12 months
BR 4.55% 24 months.

Edited. Sorry was wrong. Mistaken it as HL said they are matching BSN and HLB which I assumed they are going to come out with something like that.

So, the FD 4.5% for HLBB for 6mths if RM 10,000 = RM 450 per month?
*
No. If like that, one will get RM2700 by the end of 6 months which is 27% returns. One year get 54% returns. drool.gif Like that, bank/MLM/scam tutup kedai already. tongue.gif

Calculations are RM10k x 0.045 x (total no of days in 6 months/366) = about + - RM221 (assuming one uses 180 days)

+ - RM221 is what one will get after 6 months.

4.5% from mach is the best so far? follow by BSN?
*
If you can tahan long queue at BSN, then go for BSN. I remember when I went there to open SA, waiting time + opening account = 3 hours + doh.gif

However, there are some BSN which are quite fast.

If you have big cash to impress bank rakyat like unker goat (6 figure), go for bank rakyat. Nego the rates.

hello, I need some professional advice from forumers here.

I wan to open a FD account with HLB under their promotion with 4.5% p.a., 6 months, but also considering Foreign current account in maybank which min deposit is USD 1k.

Was thinking since MYR is depreciating, perhaps foreign current account can help to keep the cash as long term.

what is the best to go to? I can only go for one ><

thank you very muchieee ~~
*
I am not professional but here's my advise. If you keep money in foreign current account, those account will earn you negligible interest. Banks rates are not good compare to money changer which means you need RM to drop alot before you can make a profit. So if you want to open a current account, better go to money changer and convert to cold hard cash unless you want to pay for some stuff in foreign currency.

Second, people in USD/MYR thread have already shown that putting in malaysia FD for 10 years will match the decline in MYR against the USD. Unless of course if one were to change last year, is a different story. So moral of the story is those people who have been putting in malaysia FD for 10 years gain the same amount as those people who change RM-USD 10 years ago and hold USD cash.

Look at the FD rates. End of last year, all banks come out with 4.5+% FD. Then in January, suddenly all the 4.5+% FD drop (not as good as last 3 months of 2015). I ma guessing is FD rates will continue to drop.

*
What account is that? Mine was rm19.xx also no charge. In the end I close my account. Ask to do a BSA. That's the account without charge
