i myself have looked at ftc and bpp books before...i found that FTC is better... tongue.gif

but frankly said,i seldom look at the textbook also... laugh.gif
*
Coolly, u dont look at text books? So smart la u....envy u loh....
I just bought the ORIGINAL study text and exam kit for all core papers, cost me around 300++....but i found all the books very thick and all in wordings.....Dont know how to finish all the books i just bought...Any comments?
Im also in dilemma now....to choose between ftms n kasturi for core papers.......sigh biggrin.gif
Coolly, last time u took ur 3.5 n 3.7 at FTMS rite? Any further comments u can provide on martin n daniel....all my members said parmindar is better than martin for 3.5, but i hardly believe them la...coz i trust our ms acca adviser more than them...what they know.......haha laugh.gif

QUOTE(coolly @ Dec 20 2006, 09:09 PM)
haha...many questions post to coolly...so i got to answer it lo hor.. tongue.gif

erm,ya..when i study for my core..i really din look at the textbook,1st reason is my lecturers' notes are quite good and the 2nd reason is i quite lazy der wo..so no time to finish even the notes..don't say about the textbook already...

but last time i got buy the ftc revision kits for my core papers, but sad to say that i only manage to utilise the 3.6 one to the maximum, coz i not good in accounting..for 3.5 and 3.7,i jus followed my lecturer' note lo...

about the comment on 3.5 leh,i know parmindar is good, but i thought he specialises in IT more to management? rolleyes.gif i just attended martin class last time,in my opinion, his note is brief, maybe at 1st glance u will feel not so sufficient for ur 3.5,but his class is quite interesting,i can tell u that attending his class won't make u fall asleep der lo...besides that,he got do question with u after each topic,so it is jus like he teach u theory and later guide u on practical by doing questions, see how u can apply wat u learnt to the questions...if u able to join the class questions doing and dare to say out ur points,i believe that by doing this way,it does provide u a consistant way of practice...so when u take the exam,ur brain can react faster...this is my opinion lo...

for 3.7 leh, daniel ho got his unique way of teaching u the calculation part, his way of doing calculations in 2-3 core areas of the papers are all well designed and fast...so for calculation wise in 3.7,i think u should not worry for don't know how to do as long as u can practice the questions more often urself and familiar urself with his way...

the only drawbacks on his class is i think which is the common weakness of most of the chinese lecturers, which is quite weak in theory..the weak in the sense that the lecturer might not able to explain a topic well using words to u during the lecturers..maybe they will mention few important things and tell u the concept then they will proceed to the calculation part...

however, the lecturer does provide u the theory note for u to read...daniel ho is a friendly lecturer, therefore as long as u got questions on anything,he is willing to help u and answer ur querry...so if u join his class, one thing u need to do jus enforce the theory part urself...even u join ksa,in my opinion,i also think u did the same...

haha...very long gas here...hope u get something from it la... thumbup.gif
*
Oh....thx my queen for such a long comments notworthy.gifu are not lazy la, if not ur comments wont be that long....haha ...i find it very useful n i thk u shd put this in page 1 also.... icon_idea.gif
Haha...china man lecturer is like that kua...hehe laugh.gif

I hust wan to said , IF SOME OF U NOT SURE WHETNER CAN PASS THE OPTIONAL PAPERS OR NOT, just don't take the core paper tuition class yet.

for FTMS, there is a "catch up class" after the ACCA result release.

I personally join FTMS revision class, its good !! But, I m not very adapt to their teaching style since I do not take their normal class. (HUGE DIFFERNCE from what TARC lecturer teach)
*
FTMS catch up class? Y i didnt know about this? Actually the timetable also didnt state this catch up class ler....the price is same? icon_idea.gif
So, what's ur advise? Shd i go for the class to adapt to their teaching style? Im also a tarcian....Dont know why la, i feel what is taught by our tarc lecturers are always inadequate....

Erm, i juz noticed that for 3.5 n 3.7 kasturi v ftms, the sessions in kasturi in more n the fees are cheaper than ftms.....can i say that more session is better? Parmindar? Can he teach 3.5? I also make myself undecided....some say parmindar is good n some say martin....i wish i can go both...haha....

I heard that FTMS got this deferment credit for students who cant continue the classes due some acca exam rules. Am i right?
Can I use the deferment credit to register for other papers that i not originally registered. eg optional papers? Afraid to take the jan class for 3.5 n 3.7 now...hopefully can take the feb class if i pass both optional papers....

Hey guys, I was just reading thru the ACCA conversion the other day and I noticed that in the new syllabus the compulsary papers in part 3 are the first 3 papers P1, P2 and P3 unlike our old syllabus where the compulsary papers are the 3 last papers 3.5,3.6,3.7.

So that would mean that under the new syllabus we must sit for our compulsary papers first before we can attempt for the optional papers, rite? hmm.gif

And another thing that came to my attention is.. theres a new module called the Ethics Module for acca members who register for the first time in Jan 07. Does anyone know what exactly this module is? Is it examinable? Whats the syllabus?
Its optional for existing members to sit for the module.. Do u think we shud?
*
Yes, u are absolutely right....sit for core papers 1st then go for optional papers....This mean, the syllabus under optional are much more wide!
I got no idea about the ethics module...hopefully i will pass by this june 2007 sitting or else i'll be effected by the conversion....

ya, agree.. but will that really mean the optionals will be much tuffer than core in new syllabus..?? Watz their reason by twisting the optionals n core in actual..??

i think not much ppl is clear about the ethic module as most of us also got exempted from it.. Itz an online exam, which i would say not that difficult to pass, just testing on ethic isue.. Do you guyz think that ethic module important.?? I dun really bother of it as i think it like nth only.. (student register first b4 Jan07 is not compulsory to take, but is 'encourage' to opt for it)
*
Yes...optional will of course will be tougher. The reason, very simple...Optional paper is the paper for u to choose ur "CAREER" or in which "FIELD" you want. As u can see the module got adv audit, advanced tax, advanced financial mgmt and another one i cant remember...oopss biggrin.gif check the website la...
All papers are worded with ADVANCE...so nothing to be surprise. Will be tougher.....
Ethic module? Izit same as the paper Professional Accountant? Heard that Pro Acc'tant paper is a combination of audit, law and corporate governance which i think would be very dry and killing paper. I m praying that i will pass my 3.7 this time so i no need sit for that paper. IMO, ethics quite important also. U learn about ur legal liability as a professional accountant or any profession and also corporate governance...very important since enron, world com case ler......U will know about this when u study audit later.... icon_idea.gif

Erm, how much ll it helps by knowing legal liability bla bla to prevent another enron case..?? It jus like teaching a samseng civiks education (pendidikan moral).. Dun tell me the enron case, he himself dunno his own risk of doing it..
*
You will know it when u study the code of corporate governance, sarbanes oxley act, etc....you will regret if u know 2 much now biggrin.gif .....coz quite difficult in exams!

Haha...im not scaring u la....im not that so senior yet anyway....Erm, most of it is in 2.6 n 3.1...and then the ethics n corp gov are scattered in some chapter in core papers esp 3.5 n 3.7..... icon_idea.gif

Does ACCA recognised by government ?? Is it equivalent with degree in the view of government??[/b]
If I wan to teach secondary school or become tutor or work in government field, is it possible with ACCA since I don't have any Degree??
*
I'm not sure whether gov will recognise ACCA or not...But if u want 2 work for government, try go to IRB/LHDN....they will provide training as i heard from my lecturer....got some allowance during training drool.gif ....im not sure still can apply or not la....

HEY guyss.....i need help oso...

AUDIT paper is dry n killing le......can any seniors provide any gud advice 2 tackle tis paper ?? wat audit reference buks do u guys recommend??

taxation wat textbuks 2 recommend oso??? wic is d important area in taxation??

thank you....
*
Audit can be interesting if u can imagine urself into the virtual position of an auditor. Well, imagination is really vital in audit....ur mind must be quick enough to think when answering Q in exam. Ur mind must think at a faster rate of ur writing speed....
If u want basic understanding of audit...dont look at ur study text la....FTC n BPP did a very lousy job on the study text.....
Try 2 refer to Margaret Boh's Auditing and Assurance in M'sia for more basic n simple approach to auditing. Another book is Auditing and Assurance in M'sia by A Arens....these books i've used quite alot during my 2.6 internally assesed paper in TARC.... icon_idea.gif 3.1 refer textbook or any study text also not really helpful, open book u also cant do the exam paper!
After attempting both 2.6 n 3.1, i feel working experience will help more in 2.6 rather than 3.1...3.1 is the most difficult paper for part 3 i can say!! mega_shok.gif

niu,

Sunway has a Self-Study Programme itself. But there is no MYS 2.3 taxation, only UK 2.3.

p/s: it is good to be thinking to have new friends like all of u that helping each other.thanks.
