Thanks. I have 4 rooms to furnish with TV for Airbnb. Still thinking whether to buy Android Tv or normal Tv with android boxes.

Due to the recent kodi 17.x incompatibility with kitkat and below, what is the best solution?

I'm leaning toward android TV for lesser equipment to maintain (or operate) - storage, update, power adapter, socket, wireless keyboard/ remote controller batteries / charging etc.

Android TV is a lot of expensive than non-android TV with android tv box.

Android TV you are limited to certain model of SONY and Sharp. Non-android TV you have Hisense, Haier, Toshiba and what not. rclxm9.gif

Makes sense. i was asking relevant question in other thread, if i were to buy mxq pro with non android tv. can i do the below. Just hide the box behind the TV and power up by the TV.

Wanna ask some android boxes only use 5V power like above mxq pro

Can i use usb - power plug like above to power the unit straight away from USB port from the TV instead of using adapter to socket? Anyone tried it?

Chances of hitting problem is HIGH as TVs USB ports are normally lower power output.

Not all power adaptors are the same, look at the power rating. They vary greatly

risky...
u will need to check the amp/power of the box.
if >500mA, 2.5w, u may overload the tv usb.

androidtv is only found in tv size 50" and above - may be too large/costly for yr rooms.
but they are more convenient when it comes to direct use of netflix, youtube, bloomberg and al jazeera.
also, less maint, can take popular apps like hyppewhere, astrogo, iflix.

use of box makes sense if they can reliably handle the apps u are looking at and do not cost too much.

but frankly... i am using both, neither will be great for your purpose - i would think most "passers-by" will get annoyed with use of androidtv/android box, unless they already know how they work.
might be more viable if u find some package for hypptv or astro with decoders for smaller, lower end tv's.

If for other people use they will roughly use will press until rosak, better just buy separately, from a point of audiophile/ home theater user you can replace the faulty unit whichever first. Also cheaper for upgrade if in future needed. Maybe you start with smaller TV first see will they last or not.

Sony Bravia Android TV Settings Guide 2018: What to Enable, Disable and Tweak

https://www.tomsguide.com/us/sony-tv-settin...ew-5605-11.html

Sony's smart TV comes with all sorts of content recommendations by default. Some of these are handy, helping you discover new shows, music, apps and more. But not all of those recommendations will be useful, and sometimes the onslaught of recommendations can be too much. The good news is that it's quick and easy to edit the recommendations you get, or to turn them off entirely.

There's also a second bar of featured apps, which is handy when you're first exploring the available apps, but will waste a lot of space.

Like the recommendations row, Sony's default selection of featured apps not only clutters up the home screen, it can also cause odd problems when you try to find an app you want to use. Was it in your apps bar, or was it in the Featured Apps? What about all those featured apps you have no interest in? Surely, not everybody will want Hallmark Movies NOW or RedBull TV in their menu at all times.

With a couple of quick changes in settings, you can remove the Featured Apps section from your home screen, and the apps you actually want to use will all be conveniently grouped with your other apps.
