Hi guys, just need your advice on how you guys gym/workout? do you guys started off with personal trainer? I'm a newbie and skinny nerdy kind.. just sign up a membership in celebrity fitness (all club), hoping to gain some mass but when I went there I am totally lost on how to use those machine and felt tension around the buff guys (feel like I occupy their space/machine).. I know people always say go youtube learn, but some said youtube is useless (marketing gimmick).. confused now.. Anyone goes to CF here? or can give any advice?

you can start with a personal trainer, although bear in mind 3 promotional sessions are not enough at all. need at least tenths of session which costs sum of money.

They only gave me one PT session which is only 45minute and more towards push selling.. and the price is too expensive espeacially when I am still a student.. |

Beware those commercial PT will teach you half squat, 3" bench press and no deadlift cause it is dangerous.

I personally learn from youtube. Just trial and error. Start with lighter weights so you dont hurt yourself easily.
I only went through the useless 3 session PT full of crap. Nothing much learnt from those sessions. Takes time to learn |

QUOTE(Dy1an312 @ Dec 1 2015, 01:23 PM) how do you differentiate injury and ache? some say having ache is good as body building muscle and some say is bad... I am no expert but to me, lets say if you are working out your chest muscles, but at the end of the day you are feeling the soreness from your biceps and triceps...means you are doing it wrongly....Injuries normally last longer than soreness... like unable to extend your forearm...unable to lift the shoulders up....joint issues... or spine injury....etc.... Keep in mind that I am also new to the lifting game. This post has been edited by BacktoBasics: Dec 1 2015, 01:36 PM |

QUOTE(Wira Hikari @ Dec 1 2015, 01:48 PM) doesn't seem to have any pinned threads for Newbie/pure beginners. or maybe i'm reading the wrong things Maybe there werent any thread SPECIFICALLY titled for beginners, but some of them really worth to read for good start.Got one thread discussed on whey protein also. I think it is good for beginners to read on how to carefully choose your whey protein for your supplement to get best result, to avoid being cheated, have awareness about what they put in our supplement, etc etc. |

Most of the time the PT was just staring at chicks at the gym while giving me advises. lolmaxThe truth is that he doesn't even lift and he doesn't even work his calves lol..... Less risky and dangerous... then maybe you can do goblet squats...you can google them if you are not farmiliar with them. Then slowly move to barbell squats. |

Yes, I do admit that I have 0 knowledge in working out or bulking up, but because I would like to start gaining some mass (I'm skinny type), I know I am not good at it.. that is why when i purchase the protein shake, I would get some recommendation from asking the store staff. |

Just to share...mass gainer is better for people who are skinny and trying to put on mass if you cannot eat alot of whole foods? since shakes are easier to drink than foods to swallow.I myself are the fat type so I dont go for the mass gainer...I just need the extra protein in my diet, thus, the whey protein shake... Try to eat more calories if you wanna bulk up (calorie surplus) calculate your required calories for your bodyweight and maybe add 200 to 300 calories for now to your diet. |

While we all can agree that majority of the PT in these commercial gyms can do more harm than good... but if you happen to know someone who is educated and qualified, if you have the funds, it's still good to have someone there to guide you...
I'd recommend darklight79 |
