Can you give more details? I wanted to post similar issue. But I still testing. Sometimes I don't get gmail new mail notification. I think its wifi issue. It looks like when in sleep mode, if the wifi connection gets disconnected for some reason, it will not reconnect back. So no notifications will come in. If I wake the phone, on the lock screen, the wifi icon is not there. Then a few seconds later it will appear as it has reconnected. Then the notification will come in.

The setting for Keep wifi on during sleep is Always and is working properly. Wifi is on during sleep and notifications come in. I think only under some condition when wifi gets disconnected for some reason, the problem happens. I cannt find any setting to make sure wifi auto-reconnects. Anyone knows if got such a setting?

Stock rom, power saver etc off, no app to do any power savings etc. Did a factory reset to do more testing.

did u try lock gmail by pulling down the app when u press the recent app button?

i got it work now. mine is m'sia set stock latest rom, rooted.

system > sync must be on. sync wifi only set to off.

security > autostart > enable gmail.

now put your phone to sleep and send yourself an email using other devices. it should be working.

if not, download PNF.

run the app and grant it access. then set the mobile & wifi heartbeat intervals to the recommended values. reboot your device. check again, it should be working now.

i also enable auto start for PNF, just in case.

i tried that before i got it to work and it didn't help.

i had gmail app running and i was at the inbox. then i sent myself an email using pc and it just won't push. no notification badge, no LED, no refresh, nothing.

i had to pull down the screen to refresh in order to get new mails.

No, I have not tried that yet. Is that to make sure the app stays in memory? I've been looking more into the wifi connection issue as it all works properly even if the phone is in sleep mode and the wifi stays connected etc. I think its only under some condition if wifi gets disconnected. Not all the time in sleep mode. Only sometimes. So I didn't think it was app issue or autostart etc. But I will check on what you said as I test.

Sync was already on. Wifi only was already off by default. Autostart was already on by default .
As I said, it actually all works properly even in sleep mode. Only sometime. And I think that's when wifi disconnects and does not reconnect back.

For example, I just put the phone to sleep for a few minutes. Then send an email. Got the notification with no problem. Did it twice, no problem. Because the wifi connection is stil there even in sleep mode. So it all works. I am trying to find out under what condition the wifi may be disconnecting for some reason. It could be an android issue or miui issue. Maybe after a few hours of sleep or going into some sort of deep sleep it happens. Or with no internet activity for some period of time. I am not sure.

Wow...i feel overwhelmed by all the new Mi models coming out!

This Redmi Note 3 is expected to be more expensive given that it's priced at CNY999. By the way, there's no indication of whether it has dual-sim 4G (real/hybrid) and SD card slot (mostly likely not).

could have the hybird slot [nano sim / sd card slot] like the redmi 3

Let's see if they bring it to Malaysia or not

If Xiaomi is launching the RN3 (Snapdragon) in India, then perhaps there's greater chance of it being launched here.

Or at the very least wipe cache. It won't delete user data. You can do this by booting into recovery mode with the pre-installed Updater app.
