So far so good. Quiet, but not enough to hide the fact that the Persona's soundproofing is not good. Its grip hasn't let me down so far. Dry and wet grip is very good.

Hi all the sifus out there, my persona se 2008 after switching off the engine the door wont auto unlock sometimes, may i know whats the problem? Anyone encountered this problem? Thanks in advance.

I mean total number of speed bumps is ranging 20-25, depends which route I take...  Usually I slow down to less than 20km/h, but still many cars like to tiong behind. I was wondering how frequent those speeder replace absorbers

yup..i feel the sv is much more silent than the PE b-line while driving.

not sure whether the engine is more silent or the sv model has better sound proofing.

another thing i notice about the engine characteristics.

when going uphill any slope..the b-line will rev up to 2.5k rpm and then drop back to search for a lower gear and then will go back up to 2.5k rpm.

while the sv would just rev to 3k rpm and then stay there until i reach the top of the slope.

both the cars are auto btw.

i wonder did p1 engineers tuned the engine in the sv model differently from the normal elegance model 

Guys, the oil stain near Timing Belt cover is due to what issue?

Gasket on top and bottom of the engine also fix before. sad.gif

encountered this problem on my gen2 before... the aircond control's memory messed-up, so need to reset it.
to do this, turn off your car with the aircond blower fan switching to off position (no fan out), ensure the aircond position is pointing to face only direction. Next, open front bonnet, locate the fuse box next to battery... after open the fuse box, you will notice there's one "special fuse" with fuse puller on it, that's the memory fuse... slightly pull it up (no need to pull out the whole fuse) for few seconds, then push it in (take the car key with you as afraid the alarm might trigger) . start the car, then switch on the aircond blower fan.

i went ACE there is 2 charts from different brand both give different sizes for L & R. do we follow exact size or based on brand sizing?

First time driving a Persona. I feel that the brakes aren't that efficient. Have to press A LOT to feel the braking. Is this normal? I've asked a few service centers and every auto mechanics say it's designed like that.
I don't think it's normal. (I've never driven a car with ABS. Poorfag  )

Whats the rough estimation for the cost of replacing all 4 suspensions/ struts?

I need to replace mine as they started to make funny noises and the car will sag a lot whenever im going through speed bumps.

Edit: Read through the first page of the topic and realized that my 2008 Persona suffered the IAFM problem too (Tak tak tak) sound, any other place/ way to fix it other than sending it to CoSE?

my 2009 persona (bought second hand) never been up to genting before, recently I saw some members also having the engine suddenly died when going up genting (rpm constantly 3k-4k for 10-20 minutes), even those who servicing on time also have this problem, a bit phobia now since im going this weekend

Normal, the gearbox design. It's meant for engine braking preference over the fuel efficiency design, I not sure why Proton so like "amplifying" engine braking concept, even their newer gen car with CVT also playing with engine braking....

No, I wasn't refer to the "hard force" downshifting engine braking method.. what I mean is like when you lift up throttle, the speed decreases faster than other cars while it still on same gear without downshifting... It feels more like a drag..
I'm on gen2 campro version, even without downshifting cruising downslope with 80km/h still feeling the speed decreases

Last time i also do that to test FC, after that lazy already, so far I can see my FC getting higher to 8.5L/100km.
But the best i can get from highway driving at around 7.5L/100km, but why waste my time drive slow slow, better speed up and get home earlier, haha. now no more care about FC.

some personal findings of used persona (i just got myself one a few months ago):

FC isn't that good in city, especially if you are doing shorter distance trips. for traffic jam I think it is still alright (not great, but not super bad) and for highway it's not bad (i used around rm25-30 of fuel from KL to Perak, covering around 180km of distance).

the NVH is fine for lower speeds, but it gets worse as you go faster (let's say above 100kmh), im not entirely sure if it is due to the age of the car or that's just how it is. the engine whines in a high pitch during higher speeds and you can hear quite a lot of wind noise/ road noise. the car is quite stable though albeit the noise.

i spent quite a bit to fix some common problems of older personas. the radiator hoses were clogged and i had no idea about it until i drove it on highway and the car overheated quite badly. the head gasket got destroyed and it went through a top overhaul (costed rm1k+).

the suspensions weren't in a good shape too as the front of the car dives a lot when going through bumps and i spent another rm200 to have them serviced. and then the suspension linkages (front passenger side) had to be changed too due to the knocking sound whenever i hit a bump or do a sharp turn, another rm180 gone.

lastly i replaced the IAFM module with a modified intake for rm250 (compared to rm500-600 if you replace it with another brand new IAFM module which will break again in the future). the car was really thirsty and slow to accelerate with the broken IAFM and the worst part is the "tak tak tak" noise it makes.
wind noise is most noticeable from the front quarter of the driver side, i can't really tell apart the other noises yet (mixture of engine and tyre noise i guess). the car is quite noisy even when im cruising around 110kmh, i tried hitting 140kmh and it was too noisy for me to comprehend.
