Some say it affects performance, but I think it's mostly just noise unless the actuator for switching between the long/short intake is stuck. I heard that the rod may eventually break if it's left in its current state, so it's probably a good idea to get the thing serviced, I.e. Shorten the rod if I'm not mistaken.

Later I upload my video to utube den will post here cause I'm.not sure that sound is iafm or normal engine sound... It sounds like both to me lol..

last time i had a chat with Proton mechanic in Glenmarie, they say the tak tak tak sound may came from 2 sources.

The IAFM and purge valve canister.

For me ,i will just replace the purge valve canister first.if your FC seem worrying from time to time.Change this.Much more cheaper and easy to replace.

CODE
A canister purge valve is a solenoid valve controlled by the Power Train Control Module. The Power Train Control Module is a control unit that determines the ignition timing, fuel amounts and other parameters needed to keep the engine running.

Function
The canister purge valve serves as part of the emission control system in a car, and it measures the flow and amount of fuel vapor that is recycled into the combustion process via the charcoal canister, or fuel vapor storage device. Canister purge valves are also used in "leak tests," by allowing a vacuum to be created throughout the fuel storage system when the valve is closed, thus preventing outside air from entering the system.

Performance
Factors that can affect the performance of a canister purge valve include unclean valve conditions and valve blockage. Valve blockage is caused when an obstruction becomes lodged in the opening of the valve, causing a backup of the fuel and air mixture.

According to the computer, it said 8.1L/100km. Mine is auto. Is the FC normal for PE? City drive only

Just notice my car tyre damn noisy on uneven road.. When I look at the tyre used by previous owner,

1) 2 biji is ecotopia or ecopia.. forgot exact name
2) 1 biji is bridgestone
3) 1 more biji I no see..

Btw, still got question to ask since Im new to PE. When I'm inside my car with engine on, after I unlocked the car door, I open and close, it will auto lock again after close. normal kah?

and now i notice got some rat sound when braking low speed. probably due to cheap brake pads

Yes if your handbrake is down. If your handbrake is up it will not autolock when u close the door.
*
QUOTE(TDUEnthusiast @ Dec 4 2015, 09:27 PM)
As long as your hand brake is not engaged and you are pressing the brake pedal, your door will auto lock if you open and close the door, or if you press the brake pedal when your hand brake is not engaged and the door is not locked.

Edit: Should be Ecopia, and it is from Bridgestone.
*
oo..thats very good since crime is everywhere now.. some people after open door forgot lock back..

Some comfort or good nvh tyres : Continental CC5 , Toyo Neo energy , Dunlop D05. I myself using toyo, quiet and soft tyre I would say.

Brake rat? High pitched sound when slow braking ? Change to a better brake pad such as Bendix , not high performance type.
*
Last time my car use continental cc5 also...

Not high pitch, jz abit of rat sound. Loud jz enuf to hear.

Cc5 also noisy? Maybe it's time to change ?

Previously no rat sound? I thought rat sound is like screeching squealing when low speed braking... By the way the stock persona's brake pads is noisy too. I solved my braking sound problems after I changed all pads to Treator Metallic plus.
*
Nope. Cc5 in my previous car is quite. Currently using bridgestone ecopia

Had this problem since the day I got my car. Got worse since the mechanic removed the brake insulation layer. Noise came back about two days after applying lithium grease on the back of the brake pads.
*
Is the wooong sound very loud ? No solution at all?

With the insulation, it was loud but still acceptable. Without it, the sound is terribly loud and annoying. Luckily it's only when the brakes are not hot.

I think the only solution would be brake pads with proper shims to reduce noise and vibration etc.
*
Actually what is the actual cause of it? Will affect brake performance? I damn scare one day suddenly brake failed..

Try Googling for sources of brake noise. If the problem lies with the lack of noise reduction material on the pads themselves, I suppose that there's no reason to worry about brake failure.
*
Thanks. After googling, found that rust on the disc also can cause brake. Somehow my rear disc is very rusty while front discs not rusty at all lol..

hmm.gif Maybe it's because the rear brakes aren't as heavily used as the front pads. Get a bunch of people to sit in your car so that the EBD system will make the rear brakes work harder. laugh.gif

I'm currently searching for a proper brake lubricant, and it seems that it's very difficult to find them in Malaysia. grumble.gif. I'm going to pay a visit to Ace Hardware one day to see what they have to offer.
*
Hahahahah. Maybe since 99% of the time I drive alone.. Shall take a photo of my PE to set new picture ~

How do u define a proper brake lubricant? how to see whether is good or bad brake lubricant? First time buy own car lol.. So many things duno..still learning.
