So which 1 spec best?
N good for audio, or all same. Haha

Why not get the Alcatel Flash 2 - (RM 549)? It's the best phone in it's class, audio is decent for the price.

If you can add RM 49 more, get this one instead.

I assume you're referring to Redmi Note?

Aside from bigger screen, the Alcatel Flash 2 is better in most aspect.

1. Brand. - any brand
2. Budget. - 1k- 1.5k
3. Specs. - good CPU and GPU chipset, better above 400dpi because i like to watch clips and movies on my phone. personally not a heavy game but would like to be able to play games like TempleRun, fighting games and strategy games. Good connectivity withterthering and Hotspot as Well
4. Type/Size. - 5'' to 6'' screen

Hi guys. I kept seeing that many of you guys recommended Huawei Honor 5x. To be honest, i'm planning to get Honor 7 Enhanced or maybe LG G4 but may i know the diff between cpu and gpu of both phones? Honor 7 is Kirin 935 and 5x is Snapdragon 616 while G4 has Snapdragon 808. Which one is better?
What about Mate 8? does it worth forking out another RM600 to get it?

Of course You guys can also recommend me some other phones based on my preferences. Thanks guys !
*
Do not get the LG G4, it has bootloop issue, you will regret.

Honor 7 Enhanced is better than Honor 5X hands down, if you wanna save some money, get the Honor 7 Enhanced.

However, if you can fork out RM 600 more, Mate 8 is the way to go.

hi everyone..
i'm planning on getting a smartphone for my dad, budget is about rm500..
as an old man, the things he used most would be whatsapps, youtubes, facebooks and taking photos with the camera.. no need for gaming..
most important it would be lag-free.. and hopefully can last more than 2 years.. his current iphone4 is too laggy..
any recommendations?
thank you~
*
For low end phones, lag-free would be almost impossible, but there are definitely ones that can keep lag to minimal.

If you can fork out another RM 49, I would highly recommend you to get the Alcatel Flash 2 - (RM 549). Decent camera and speaker, close to stock Android.

Im not a really pro guy on phone but i take it that Mate 8 screen have only about 368 dpi. Will it overall like reduce the liveliness and vividness of vids or movie? I think Honor 7 is above 400 dpi~

A friend of mine kept telling me to go for s7 Edge. swear to god he's not the "local" ambassador of Samsung, but does Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge lives up to its hype, or even its price tag? Definitely not going to get it but just wanna know the 5 cents of it though.....
*
There's not much of a difference, really. Due to Mate 8 having bigger screen than Honor 7, of course the ppi amount will be lesser on the Mate 8, but the difference is not significant. Both are using the same IPS-Neo display as well. All in all, Mate 8's screen quality is fine. You should go get your hands on the Mate 8 in the Huawei store to see whether you're satisfied with the screen quality.

S7 Edge is a good phone, no doubt. The big impact on the price is due to the curved screen. If curved screen isn't important to you and you're all in for big amount of ppi, go have a look at the regular S7 (not Edge) for RM 2699 as well, it has a whooping Quad HD screen with 577 ppi. smile.gif

1. Brand: Any.
2. Budget: RM800-RM1400
3. Specs: Good camera, support for 4G connectivity, good battery. Minimum 16Gb ROM and 2Gb RAM.
Preferably Snapdragon 6XX and above. Preferably AMOLED display (not deal breaker)
4. Type/Size: 5" and above

Currently considering between
A. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
B. Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016)
C. Samsung Galaxy J7
D. Samsung Galaxy Note 4

In that order of preference. Open to suggestions. I think RN3 has the best specs for the price range, but I've never used Xiaomi phones before and it seems like MIUI takes some getting used to, plus friends said Mi phones becomes faulty (read: not just lag) after a few months usage. Rumours or fact?
*
Look no further than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, but remember to get the Malaysian variant instead of China variant.

MIUI indeed needs to take some time getting used to. However, you can just install a launcher over it. One more known issue about MIUI is that it's not optimized well, so you might see some minor bugs but it can be fixed with software updates.

If you need something that feels right at home, go with Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) or the Note 4 (if you can find an original new set below your maximum budget).

*
Don't get the Mi4i, it's problematic. Get the Redmi Note 3 instead.

Build quality wise, the Redmi Note 3 is better IMO.

As for the software update, it's typical Xiaomi, they update their phones monthly (mostly are bug fixes, new features, optimization etc.). However, don't expect much on new Android versions, you might get one or two.

HTC 10 - Wait for the official launch if u can.
Huawei P9 series - It will be available here by end of this month (probably 20th May according to some tech sites).
S7 Edge - Good phone, enough said.

There are few flagships will be launching here soon as well...
Sony Xperia X series - Will be available here sometime in June
LG G5 - No confirmation or news about it.

Or you could also consider the iPhone 6s if you're okay with iOS. biggrin.gif

Been looking at everyone's suggestion and narrowed my picks down to

Xiaomi redmi 2 enhanced
Lenovo A6000 plus
Alcatel flash 2 (the price is slightly higher but don't mind topping up)

What would you all pick among these 3? I'm totally noob to rooting or flashing rom or anything like that. Prefer a user-friendly phone.
*
Alcatel Flash 2.

It's running on stock Android with just few Alcatel apps, it's easier to use compared to the other two.

Large storage, good main camera(selfie camera idc that much), 2gb RAM if can. As stock Android as it can(I hate bloatware).

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Asus Zenfone Selfie would've been a great choice if you weren't opting for stock Android.

I think you should wait until the 24th May for the launch of Alcatel Flash Plus 2, it suits your needs, and Alcatel's Flash series are known for having stock Android. Hence, it will most likely be priced below RM 1k as well.

Samsung s7 or Sony xperia z5 dual?

Other recommendations are welcome. Main priority is camera, dual sim, and snappy ui. Thanks! smile.gif

I would say S7, because it beats the Z5 in terms of camera and performance.

Or u could wait for the Xperia X Performance that will be launching here in the next few days, if u prefer Sony.
