Hi guys,

I tried sending follow up email to EY (recruitment.hr@my.ey.com) but it seems like a wrong one reason being my email was rejected by the server.

I did not wanna call them and ask on the application status as it sounds pushy. Do they have a new email or giving them a phone is the only way now?
*
Imo it's fine to just call them and ask. They will probably see it as being enthusiastic, rather than being pushy.

I heard that EY's cut off point is March, which mean if you join in June 2018, you only will be promoted in March 2020. Is it true?

Dear all sifus and seniors, correct my if I'm wrong.
*
Yupp cut off in March, and our promotion period is October. Say if you join after Mar'18, you will only be promoted in Oct'19.

Does it mean that if I join in March 2018, I will get promoted in oct 19? But only 7 months of experience rclxub.gif
*
Join in March 2018, promoted in Oct 2018 (not 2019)...and yes only 7 months of experience.
Depends on how you think, pros is you don't needa suffer that long before you get promoted, cons is you might not have learnt enough during your first year time to get that higher expectations on you.

Would like to ask what is ey range of increment from AA2 to SA1?
*
In EY

AA1 to AA2 its RM300
AA2 to Senior its RM1000 and it continues until you reach manager

But if you're taking ICAEW the increments are lower, not sure the exact amount thou.
If you're a high performer, your increment would be even more

Would like to ask how long does ey aa2 promote to next level which is s1?
*
Every rank in EY takes 1 year (promotion period @ October every year), unless you're a fresh joiner who comes in after March (the cutoff point for promotion)

Just curious which department that does not share those concerns highlighted
*
From what I know in EY KL, HPI is the only one suffering.
Doesn't mean the other service lines are not understaffed, but HPI staffing level is seriously low, and has the highest staff turnover.

I'm in a big job in FSO and our team is about 40 members.
Similar size job in HPI, however only has less than 10 members, see what I mean?

Currently Malaysia big 4 position for audit associate are filled. Won't take anymore new fresh graduate untill June or September?
*
Currently, most of the Dec year end jobs should be at completion phase now, hence they are not recruiting as much as year end.
I know EY still have April intake, but will be too late for now.
So if you apply now, probably the fastest will be June

None. It’s the same in all Big 4s.
*
I'm not sure about the other Big 4s, but for EY I think HPI really has the most complaints I've heard so far.
And those complaints I've heard, either when my colleagues and I were discussing, it's all the same point

When you say similiar sized jobs, are they similar in terms of audit fees?

And also audit firms do categorised clients into few categories, they would prioratise strategic and clients with higher recoverability. Thus, the allocation of staff, however if the department does not even have staff it would be a problem.
*
Nope, similar sized as in the structure and size of the client.

But yeah, HPI does not even have enough staff, very very often other service lines are seconded over to help them.

Size of client not = audit fee? If HPI is lower fee, then it would definitely be ignored by the management - not prioratise it. Just nature of the job.
*
Hence my point that the people in HPI are victimised. At least all my friends in HPI whom I know of

I think only shortlisted candidates will be notified (i might be wrong). I would say give it a month since it's just the first stage.
*
Those who are rejected will still receive an e-mail.

But yes I agree that @tommy1212 should give it a month. You have just submitted for a week. It takes time to process especially a lot of people are submitting for July intake

Year1 Associate mostly doing easy section like (cash and bank, PPE, Operating Expenditure and helping senior to vouch TOC samples), it wont be too hard to cope with.

Hours shouldnt be long for year 1 associate.
*
I think it really depends on your preference of learning experience.
Under my current manager (I've been with him since Day 1), it's never enough to just do what you're usually expected to do (i.e year 1 associates stuffs). If you're not starting to learn what's required for the next rank, when are you going to start learning? Which I think this speeds up our learning experience which is good.

As long as you know the basics it will be good enough.

The other functions such as vlookup, pivot table, sumif etc you will learn along the way - cause in fact not many fresh grads out there are familiar with these.

If you call everyday then it may seem desperate lah. Though finding them personally might be a little too much...

But I think it is reasonable to call on a weekly basis, especially its been quite awhile since the interview.

Hey guys, need your advice if possible. I've received 2 offers (EY & PwC) and I'll be starting on Oct. Since I haven't make up my mind, I have accepted both offers because there is an expiration date for the offers. I plan to make up my mind and reject one of them after I graduate.

However, I was being told that if I were to do so, I would leave a bad image on the company that I rejected - despite the fact that the contract states I can do so at least 1 month prior to my employment date. Is it true that I would leave a bad name at the company that I would reject? :/

Thank you in advance!

Agreed with the post right above mine.

It is seen as an unprofessional behaviour, which shows the fact that you are not decisive/not interested in them to begin with, or have not done enough research prior to applying. If you have done your research well, you should have a "ranking" in mind which would be your first choice and so on.
