Thanks guys. Any other inputs/opinions on salaries are welcomed

Other questions:
1. if i sign with co A and will start in 3 months, then during that time co B offers me and I want to withdraw from co A, will there be any consequences?

2. I heard kpmg and pwc got assessment test is it?
*
1) Well it depends. Perhaps A will be fine but when you changed your mind again and wanna go back to A sometime in the future, they might not accept you anymore to save their time and effort. This might be something you wanna consider.

2) KPMG there's an online English comprehensive and Maths reasoning test plus a EQ test. During face-to-face interview that day you will have another essay writing. Not sure for PwC.

hey many thanks for the response, its much appreciated smile.gif
may i ask further: did they notify you by email or phone call? ...and how much time did you have to prepare for the interview?
*
They notified by thru email. The only phone call we had was the very brief phone interview.
How much time to prepare as in....?

If you are asking for the duration, they will let you know thru the interview invitation email after you passed the assessment. smile.gif

Oh and to add on, mine lasted for bout 4 hours+ from 8.30am to 12.30pm.
I arrived 1 hour earlier to familiarise myself with the environment and get to know people around.

I'm sorry but what duration do you mean ? And may i know the name of the person who emailed you ? Did s/he mention the date you'll commence employment?

.... I meant to ask about the period of time between:
1.online application
2.phone interview
3.online assessment
4. Interview email
5. Interview day
*
The duration as in how long would the interview last. Her name is Ms Ezreena and nope she didn't mention. But you're ought to let them know your expected commencement date for work if you have.

I completed the online application in the mid of May, within that week itself I got a phone call from them, asking general questions and informing about the online assessment which they sent me a link thru email.

A week later, I got the email that I passed my online assessment and proceeded to the interview which is scheduled on the second week of June. The speed of them releasing the results of the interview depends, as I think they adopt an elimination method (I got the rejection at the end of June already but my friend who attended on the same day still hasn't gotten any replies yet).

Hi, I am going to start my career with EY soon in this coming August and I'm planning to open a new bank account soon for my salary.

I would like to ask if EY (KL office) has their own preferred bank for salary purpose?

I have one line to summarise: they looked friendly, but the questions they asked will corner you. So be prepared.

In case you do not know, the interview started off with a group presentation, where 4-6 interviewees are grouped together, given 10 mins of preparation and about 20 mins of presentation on a case study they provide. It's kinda easy, but the difficult part is the time pressure. Bring along a pen to jot down your notes for presentation.

After that it will be essay writing session, where you're given two very simple and direct question and you're required to write a simple essay, no word limit. So, a pen is needed again. They will provide papers but just bring along just in case.

Then the 2 to 1 interview, conducted by the same panel you faced in group interview, I'm not sure is it the same for all panels, but mine actually asked questions based on the group interview, such as "how do you think your team performed just now?" "what do you think you did poorly, and how to improve?" "who would you hire? why?", which is totally out of my expectations, instead of the general standard interview questions. I guess this is the part where I screwed my interview haha. So be prepared for the unexpected.

Remember to bring your file with all your certs of course, thou my interviewers didn't even look at it.

The rejection email states that after comparing my qualifications and experiences against other candidates, they are unable to offer me an employment. I took effort to ask for even more detailed reasons, but no responses are received.

Do let me know if you need anymore guides biggrin.gif

Wow this is really helpful thank you for writing these out truly appreciate it smile.gif  feeling nervous as i hv an upcoming interview w them...
what was the presentation topic abt? ...and the essay topic?....is it possible to prepare for them in advance ?
was the presentation part nerve racking?
for the interview, what other kinds of  questions did they ask? were there some other tricky ones? do they ask things frm yr resume?
can i arrive jst 15 mins earlier? the interview will not start until the stated time right?

thank you v much smile.gif
*
The presentation topic is like you're given a case study of a project, so you should discuss whether or not to undertake it and present it to the interviewers in the capacity of consultants facing the board of directors. The presentation, well as I was the last person in the team to present so the time pressure I faced was tremendous.

The essay topic not sure whether should I disclose, but you shouldn't worry too much about it, it's one of the pretty standard interview questions you can get. My advice is, study the standard interview questions and prepare your answers, that will be good for the essay writing.

For the interview, nope 99% of the questions are based on the group interview in the earlier session. Do observe your peers, and also yourself most importantly, they might ask your opinion on the candidates. This was the trickiest already haha.

Nope they didn't ask anything at all from my resume. In fact they didn't even ask for it or look at it. My cert file was closed all the time.

Well you can, in fact there's one member in my team who's late for the interview, but arrived right before the group interview started. Thou they say it's ok but of course you won't want to leave a bad impression. Yupp the interview will not start at the stated time. In fact there's a briefing session first bout the life and benefits of being part of KPMG, which lasts bout 15-30mins I think, also the interview briefing.

Additional tips, mingle around and talk to other candidates, you might get new connections or information you never knew. smile.gif

hey may i ask if  you heard that in ey they only give you one client to work with throughout ?
thanks  smile.gif
*
It depends on your hardwork. The more well performing you are, the more the senior will like you and book you, so different people has different portfolio depending on your performance. Quite unlikely that you're only given one client as each engagement only last for a few months max, impossible you would be rotting for the remaining months. Unless it's during off peak period, and worse if you're an intern, then it's possible that you might only have one client to work with.

Hi all, I'm currently a fresh grad who just got called for a one-to-one interview at EY for assurance dprt (audit). From the phone interview, I got to know that I have to choose an industry now.

What I'm asking is this:
1. I couldn't seem to find the industries available for assurance for EY. May I know what are the industries available for EY audit?

2. After I've chosen the industry and after some time, I feel that it's not suitable, will EY allow me to switch to a different industry?
*
1. FSO (Financial Services), DTC (Diversified Industries, Technology and Communications), HPI (Hospitality, Property and Infrastructure), NRG (Natural Resources, Gas).

2. You can talk to your mentor about this (everyone is assigned to a mentor), it's possible as they will try to retain you, depending on that industry needs, however most of the time the people in EY just remain as they are at.

Good luck to your interview btw smile.gif

Hi, I would also like to ask, how would the audit workload and complexity differ from industry to industry?

For example, how would the audit work in Financial Services (FSO) differ from Diversified Industries, Technology and Communications (DTC)?

I'm afraid that I will choose the wrong industry to start with for my auditing career.
*
FSO mainly deals with banks, insurance and funds - Maybank, Ambank, Century Tokyo, Kenanga Investors, Bursa Malaysia etc. DTC mainly deals with telecommunications and media companies, not sure about the portfolio as I'm under FSO haha.

Well different industries have their own specialty, so the audit work and methodology used maybe different. For instance, in FSO you don't have stocktake because they dont have inventory! In EY we make you specialise in that particular industry. In FSO during the off-peak it can be very relaxing, but during peak hours can be crazy.

Hi guys, I'd like to ask for ACCA affiliates in Big 4, how do you obtain your membership?

In the current system, we need to write a reflective statement for every task, and get it signed off - how does it work in Big 4? Mind sharing your experience?

Hey, guys. Im now pursuing Master degree of accounting and finance and currently working in a small audit firm. I m considering to join big firm on next year as I need to give 2 months notice. if I join big 4, do i still have time manage to study and do assignment??  feeling struggle.
*
I really doubt so. I have colleague who did that, but has no time at all to even do research and write assignment, in the end gave up and quited the course.

While you can sign the offer letter, scan it and email back to them, regardless what, they need your original signature copy as their evidence of employing you.
