Hey guys, all the professsionals here, I supposed you all have your own portfolio or perhaps viewed others' portfolio before. Mind to share some? Can gimme the link, I am curious and wished to look at others' portfolios. Big companies in M'sia also can. Btw, portfolio, is it supposed to be done for personal usage or company's? And what's the purpose of doing out a portfolio?

Sadly my portfolio isnt fully flash..
anyway, i can help out the definition of portfolio.
Portfolio is actually can be used by any service providers, no matter it is digital or anything relates to mechanical parts. A portfolio consist of part works, experiences, case studies, galleries.. or even some summary of past works progress.
A portfolio is like your skill / service capabilities library where potential clinets will loook into that rather asking you to do live demo of your every skills / service. It is important to have a portfolio if you are a service provider.
Below is the link of some careers thats rely on portfolios to do the presentation :
Art / media designers ( graphic design, multimedia, illustrators..etc.. )
Enginnering
Architecture ( architect, interior designers, etc... )
Book Authors
What i listed above is something you might seen or not seen locally. Hope my info help you out abit.

well, i was just about to open a thread bout this topic, and since you've already open it, i support you... well, what you need in your portfolio is a navigation for your works, about you, contact, links(optional), etc... you can put anything you like as long as you think it is useful or not la.. i dont have a portfolio yet, but i have done la abit with flash designing... comments are good instead of flaming... my recent/past work: www.jprivateyes.comPrivate investigator website in Malaysia www.fiesta-carnival.comEvent handled by a society in MMU melaka www.mmusicsociety.comSociety website. not yet finish due to a lot of assignments and works. upcoming website: About Allahyarham P.Ramlee... for my FYP... hope you guys enjoy...

portfolio doesnt really need to be in Flash, although it may help if you are applying a job related with Flash. From my view, just take a few of your best work and put in the portfolio instead of putting all the work you had done in the list. Put some of the best one on the first few and last few in the list. Another thing other ppl told me that portfolio page doesnt need to be that fancy because the focus here is the Portfolio itself, not that portfolio page. Well I am lazy to maintain a site, so I dont have portfolio page at the moment,

A portfolio is a standard way for potential employers to filter out designers who are capable of providing the level of results required for their company. However, if you're a Master or PhD holder then it's more technical based on your thesis done and written. For any freshie, a portfolio can help you win a job and jobs for freelance work. I don't believe in Flash portfolios because most people don't offer much value from it and it takes a while to load. If I'm sourcing for employees or freelancers, I'd rather glance at your work as quickly as I can and later call you in for an interview. However, if you're aiming to be a Flash designer then by all means go crazy with Flash and strut your stuff. cheers.

Guys, I was thinking, at the 'contact' page of a portfolio, some people applied things like this. Name : <Type your name> Email : <Type your email> Message : < Type your message > and then Send. Normally when I clicked Send, it will appear a message just lining bottom of the Send button, showing 'Submitting/Sending' and then 'Done/Finished'. Actually, where did the messages are sending to? Mind to tell me?

Alright, rather than the mailto: <author email> , that made the outlook express pop out right? So, if what I stated above is also sent to the author's email, how to do it using tat method?

contact field in flash needs PHP to support... it doesn't work alone... so, if you are trying to create a flash portfolio, try to go to some tutorials website and search on how to create a send mail function...
