QUOTE(davidke20 @ Dec 17 2015, 10:27 PM) Just ran a 4G15p Wigra yesterday with my salesman from Serdang to sri damansara, back to setapak again rush to kepong maluri, finally goes all the way back to damansara up town. All within 3 hours time in the afternoon peak hours As they say la, ignorance is a bliss (problem "fixed " ma haha) Later when we wanna leave up town, starter only take 1 crank and the whole engine jammed. Upon took out the dipstick, there's nothing left inside the oil sump I also never knew what temperatures in running until recently installed gauge lol Now thinking on oil cooler as everyone been saying scary things on high oil temperatures lol |

QUOTE(TitanRev @ Dec 18 2015, 10:10 AM) I can't afford 300v and why you use so low mia 20 hahahaha thinner oil having lesser parasitic drag ma... further more it is within owner/service manual Pasang oil cooler watch out on the size n distance of the cooler and i've done enough UOA to prove that the wear is not extensive enough to dismiss using such thin viscosity |

QUOTE(wankel @ Dec 20 2015, 02:45 PM) Very slow here this weekend. merry xmas mate Even for us non-religious Aussies Xmas is a big thing, I'll be on another road trip to see my parents, a little 3500 km round trip, so I'll be gone for a few days, but best xmas wishes for all, hmmm even celebrating the solstice means little to tropical people so have a happy end of year time. The high point of down journey will only be an altitude of 550 metres so no Genting Highlands thrills for us. |

QUOTE(wankel @ Feb 5 2016, 05:21 PM) Sorry but I can't really say, Daisy has never returned to the dealership, I do all her servicing. On a positive note I was very impressed by the lack of pressure from the salesman and was never offered any of the usual add-ons that can cost thousands for little to no benefit, and my distance from the nearest dealership meant I was also under no pressure to have Daisy serviced there, something I was happy about when I was told they used an oil brand I'm no fan of, despite legions of Aussies believing it's perfection itself, Penrite. now that intrigues me, because our local enthusiasts speak highly of penrite.they are also API certified and seems very credible in the australian motorsport scene. if you don't mind, could you feedback as to why you're not a fan of penrite? pricing? alternatively if it may get draggy/long and is deemed off topic here, you may post over here instead: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3310512 |

QUOTE(wankel @ Feb 5 2016, 07:07 PM) Penrite have a very good marketing strategy, aiming themselves at enthusiasts. thanks for the insights! My concern goes back 30 years and certainly since then much may have changed but there's plenty of brands on the market for me not to bother. A friend back then was impressed by the marketing and used it for a while on his bikes but after a while became suspicious about how fresh the oil looked (something that impresses many folk), this worried him so he changed back to Castrol which very quickly went black and meant he had to do a few more premature changes to clean up the engine and return to normal. I then had a bike come into the shop I worked for a short time at that had had a partly seized piston, upon which I heard the common factor among other bikes the shop had had prior was the use of Penrite. I'm also sure the blending they do now would be good enough but past knowledge has blocked them from my shopping list. Also they do tend to follow the uniquely Aussie trend of making treacle like thick oils that are fine for racing purposes but unsuitable for road engines. 30 years ago i'm probably still a sperm or yet to exist well these days they have 0w16 offering, which is super thin supposedly, but they have their "+10" viscosity thingy that seems to make it rather hypocritical in a sense haha. i've actually put out an order for a carton of those oil, thinking to keep it around for a next car or something, we'll see how it goes lol. |
