Like what others said, you probably don't have to pay in 2017 but to pay in 2018 for 2016 & 2017.

I started in Sept 2014 and I haven't pay a cent yet. The bomb is coming though  ranting.gif  ranting.gif

Any income is taxable, yes those are taxable

I wouldn't be worry about tax at this stage if I were you. Your start date is still far from now, I will be cautious that the company that you are going to join will ffk you - giving excuses like poor economy. Happen to a friend of mine

Wow, really ? So, at this point, what else can I do to secure the job offer that is promised by them ?

First job still OK, worse comes to worst can find another job.
For those resigned and kena ffk-ed really terrible, imagine all commitments may be affected.

Get offer letter from them.

The job offer letter will be provided only when the work pass is approved, right ?

Not sure for SG, for MY, we will offer before work pass is approved.
It's the same for some companies, different name.

They did offer me the position thru email. Position name stated, salary stated, but benefits not included, I do not think that it is considered as formal offer letter. However, the HR told me that the employment letter will be provided once the medical check-up done and work pass is approved. So, look like I cannot do anything now ? feel like not secure ... cry.gif

I also signed my offer letter and post it to SG while HR apply for the work pass. But in the offer letter it states something like the offer is valid only if the EP is approved which I think is reasonable as the company won't be able to hire you without the approval. The best they can do is only to appeal for you.
Anyway it's only your first job. Why be worried. Really (touch wood) can't get the job then worse come to worse back home lo biggrin.gif
That's part of life?

Mine is a bit different. The email informed me that I was successful in application of the job. No company logo, no HR sign in the email. Looks more like informing rather than job offer letter. Anyway, wat i can do right now is just wait since the HR will only apply the work pass for me in April ( according to them, since still far from my working date ).

Lol, I was in the same situation as u 2 months ago. Pioneer MRT has a 24 hour foodcourt, food price normal in SG foodcourt with normal varieties. So it's quite convenient and convenient to get a seat in the MRT(fewer ppl)

If u plan to take company shuttle bus to Tuas Everyday, then try to rent Boon Lay so u don't need to pay SGD 0.78 X2 Everyday. Don't know if Boon Lay has any 24 hour foodcourt though. But it's convenient with Jurong Point, albeit food price a bit higher.

Boss, you work in Tuas ? How frequent the company shuttle bus ? Provided even OT ? Thanks.

Hey, sifus. I have some questions here. The company called me to make an appointment for signing the employment letter, I have some doubts regarding it.
(i) Usually the letter will be signed on the spot ?
(ii) Should I take it back and sign after study the term and condition in it ?
(iii) The company will bond you for a number of year ? For instance, cannot quit in the first half year.
Hope your reply can enlighten me. Thank you.

Hey, I am freshie. And my first job will be starting at 15th June 2016, and I may taking leave on 22nd and 23rd June which is just one week after I start working ( due to some family praying ritual ). I know it will definitely yielding a bad impression as a newbie dare to take off for 2 days just a week after joining new company. May I ask for any advice ? Since I have to take leave, is it any alternative there, like can I work 2 day earlier as refer to the date I promised ? Please, I really need your advice, and your suggestion is much appreciated as I am going to sign the employment letter soon. Thanks...

Hey, guys. May I ask regarding the IPA document, should employee print, sign and submit it back to employer OR the employer print and let the employee sign during meeting for contract signing ? I have an appointment with the HR next week for contract signing but the HR sent me the IPA without giving any instruction, hence I am looking for your previous experience. Thank you.
