Hello Pros, regarding salary payment in singapore,
If you work 183 days or more in a calendar year you are a tax resident and pay the same progressive tax rates as locals.
(i) The 183 days are the working days or include sunday ? (ii) For instance, if I start working in 1st July, July (31 days), August (31 days), Sep (30 days), Oct (31 days), Nov (30 days) and 31 days for Dec. Then my working days is considered as 184 days ?
Am I right ? Please feel free to enlighten me. Thank you.

QUOTE(madmoz @ Mar 5 2016, 11:10 PM) Re tax. I believe if you have worked less than 183 days but have an employment contract of one year or more, you can appeal to IRAS and there's a chance that they'll consider u a tax resident. If I start working in 1st July, July (31 days), August (31 days), Sep (30 days), Oct (31 days), Nov (30 days) and 31 days for Dec. Then my working days is considered as 184 days ? Right ?

QUOTE(knwong @ Mar 5 2016, 11:31 PM) It doesn't work like that. For e.g. If you start working in Nov 2015, and CONTINUE working into the following year 2016, you will be consider a tax resident and you pay your tax in 2017, once you have file your 2016 Year of Assessment. That is what happen to me, many years back. I even called up asking IRAS how come I don't receive my Notice of Assessment for the year I started working. To my surprise I don't have to pay tax until the following year So is it means I will only be asked to pay tax in 2018 ( but not 2017 ) since i start working at 1st July 2016 ? Thank you.
