How much should I be getting? I see those jobstreet ads for accounts executive only about 2.2k to 2.8k and on top of that, i didnt get any replies LOL.

The penalty is 3 months pay if i leave early.

I actually made an appointment in August 2016. I was actually hoping I could find another job and land the PR both when the time comes but....it seems GG.... haihz... is it possible to postpone my PR application when I made the appointment alrteady?
*
It really doesn't matter how much you "should" be getting, no one can tell you that
Just go out and ask for the pay you want, if you cannot secure the offer at that level then the reality is employers dont think you're worth that much

But regarding your PR scenario, I suggest you check with MOM if it is even legal for your company to create such a contact to bind you if you get PR (the PR is not issued by your company, so why are they allowed to bind you?)
Also, what is the penalty in the contract if you need to break it?

I will check with MOM regarding that matter.

Penalty to break contract is compensate my 3 months pay. that is about 8.1k SGD ..... work 3 months for free.
*
8.1k huh, well worse case if the contract is legit, you can just take it first and break later
Assuming you get a job that pays $500 more you will make it back easily, plus the housing + CPF benefits of being a PR should make it worth it anyway

Just called up MOM. The employment act remains silent regarding my situation.

So the legal side should kick in....so if its in my employment letter....its legit... but 8.1k is hellalot

haihz

No good news cry.gif

But like I said above ler, you can still consider getting your PR and paying the penalty anyway
Worth it in my opinion
Think of how much CPF you lose every month you get your PR later, and also the happiness in getting your HDB earlier icon_idea.gif

But your bigger problem is prob that you cant seem to get a better job out there

Did you try applying to your direct competitors?
Other small audit firms
That should be the easiest

That sounds pretty reasonable, why do you think he's being sarcastic?

Certainly, thanks. Can you pls contact your agent? Requirement:
-Looking for Single Room (Male)
-Within walking distance of Boon Lay MRT
-Prefer utilities fee and wifi included – around $500
-Washing Machine needed
-Move in 15 July
*
Think he's asking if you want his agent's details so you can contact the agent

because it may sounds reasonable, but actually not quite the truth.
My opinion, can correct me if i am wrong.
*
His post was his view based on the people he's spoken to
All your points above are also based on your own POV, none are "facts" so it depends who you talk to
Because some or a lot of people have different views doesnt mean they are being sarcastic

I tend to agree with huaweie, if you take the materialistic items out of the equation you will see why
There are things in Singapore which no amount of money can buy you in Malaysia, and vice versa
Some ppl like the security in SG, while others like the freedom in MY

Mind if I ask, how long have you been based in SG?

But to suggest people to convert, would be way too much of a suggestion, afterall you are asking people to lose their Malaysia Citizenship, and irrecoverable.

*
Why?
There will be opinions to convert and opinions not to
Why is it "too much" to share their opinions either way?
This is a forum after all

Would it be way too much of a suggestion to encourage someone to leave their family behind and come to SG to work, even for a few years?

Actually, I get the contact from the PropertyGuru. So, I think they are supposedly landlord agent. Furthermore, the rental is also same with the advertisement they posed. So, I wonder they may only wish to entertain me whenever I reach Singapore. What else can I do ?
*
Prob because of the number of FFK cases from foreign numbers

A few months back I shared my agent's contact with someone here
Agent told me the guy contacted him, agent arranged some places for him to look at, the dates kept getting pushed back and eventually it went silent

Lets say the very hopeful scenario is, i get an offer in Sg but I'm still on probation at my current company. Is it ok to just leave during this probation period...?
*
It's more okay to leave during probation compared to after being confirmed

Oh izit? So it doesn't leave like a sort of negative impression for the future employer?
*
Of course it will, but you only asked if it's "okay" to leave, not what the future implications may be

If you only have a few weeks then just dont show this experience in your resume, no need to explain

Or just open a foreign currency account in Malaysia?
I might be niave but I do prefer keeping SGD as opposed to MYR.
*
Wouldn't that be no different than just keeping the SGD in Singapore?

QUOTE(SkyHermit @ Jun 12 2016, 12:21 AM)
How hard it is for a diploma holder vs degree holder (malaysian uni) to find a job in Singapore?

Long story short, I am a year 3 degree student (accounting) in KL. Due to bad results and has failed many accounting papers and I will graduate late (around 2019) so I am thinking whether I should quit and work with my diploma cert in Singapore or pass all my papers (in 2019) so that I can apply job using degree cert. My plan is to work in Singapore either after I graduate degree or even if I quit my degree halfway now. I might or might not do accounting job because I don't like it, but most probably will enter into finance/marketing/HR etc..

I am 23 years old this year and have no working experience
*
If you quit your degree what will you work as in SG?
