Chelsea make £44.2m transfer bid for Everton’s John Stones – report

Chelsea have made a £44.2million offer to finally sign Everton’s John Stones, according to reports.
The Blues have been chasing Stones since the summer when they made three offers to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Everton rejected all of them, but Chelsea are determined to do business, and Fichjaes says they’ve now made a £44.2m bid to get the deal done.
A classy centre back, Stones is also wanted by Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona but Chelsea are looking to get the deal done quickly.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been driving the deal and Stones would be a quality addition to Guus Hiddink’s squad.

Chelsea join transfer hunt for Southampton’s Sadio Mane – report

Chelsea are ready to wreck Manchester United’s transfer plans by moving for Southampton forward Sadio Mane, according to reports.
The winger has been strongly linked with United since the summer and after a row with the Saints, they’re set to make a new offer this January.
But now the Daily Mirror says Chelsea are keen to land the player, who is doing all he can to force a transfer away.
The paper says Mane has made it clear he doesn’t want to sign a new contract and is prepared to push for a move during this window.
Any bids for Mane are likely to be in the region of about £30million.

Chelsea close to completing £30m Alex Teixeira transfer – report

Chelsea are closing to signing of Alex Teixeira with advanced talks underway over a deal, according to reports.
Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Teixeira has been strongly linked with a move to the Blues in the last few weeks with scouts impressed with his progress.
And now The Sun reports that Chelsea are close to sealing a deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge in the coming days.
It’s claimed the 25-year-old will cost about £30million – and he arrives in the form of his life having bagged 26 goals in 25 games this term.
He’s set to be Chelsea’s first January signing but is unlikely to be their last, with Everton’s John Stones among those also linked.

In my FM2016, I build my Chelsea team around British players to be the core of the team. And of course to meet the homegrown quota for the UCL.

Those players I bought are Harry Kane, Ross Barkley, John Stones, James Ward-Prowse and Will Hughes.

The thing is here we need to at least have three English spine in our team.

To bring Harry Kane is nearly impossible. But Barkley, Ward-Prowse and Stones still available.

Chelsea Transfer News: Douglas Costa, Radamel Falcao, John Stones, Top Rumours

Douglas Costa has ruled out a switch to the Premier League. The Brazilian, who was a target for both Chelsea and Manchester United, won't join boss Pep Guardiola in leaving Bayern Munich this summer.

Instead, Costa stated his desire to remain at Bayern, per German publication Bild (h/t talkSPORT): "No chance, I have a lot of goals here. It's true, I joined Bayern because of Pep. The first six months with him have been outstanding; the next sixth [sic] months will certainly be outstanding too. I have learned a lot from Pep."

Chelsea were linked with interest in the former Shakhtar Donetsk star prior to the start of this season. Back in March 2015, Costa told FourFourTwo's Marcus Alves he'd "be really interested in moving to Chelsea."

In June, he told Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour (h/t Goal.com) that "Chelsea are one of the great teams in Europe." Apparently, though, Costa is now content at one of the continent's other footballing powers.

Since moving to Bayern, he's added some outrageous trickery and flair, along with electric pace, to an already lethal forward line. Always a bright talent during his time at Shakhtar, his stock has now risen.

Costa has helped himself to four goals and provided nine assists in Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League action, according to ESPN FC.

His fit at Chelsea is obvious since Stamford Bridge is now home to Costa's fellow Brazilian and former Donetsk team-mate, Willian. Costa even talked up their connection during his interview with Alves.

But the Blues aren't really lacking in wide areas, at least in terms of numbers. Willian is joined by Pedro and Eden Hazard. What Chelsea really need is for the latter pair to rediscover their best form.

Instead, the Blues' biggest transfer need is a little further back.

Chelsea Make Firm Offer for John Stones
A young and quick centre-back to replace Gary Cahill and help usher John Terry into retirement is a must. Everton's John Stones fits the bill.

Perhaps that's why Chelsea are said to have bid £44.2 million to finally tempt the Toffees into a sale. According to Spanish website Fichajes.net (h/t Metro's Jamie Sanderson), Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona are also identified as keen suitors.

Of course, Stones has been on the Chelsea radar for quite some time. It was one of the transfer sagas of last summer, with Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror claiming Everton turned down four bids from west London for the 21-year-old.

Maybe yet another increased offer will finally get a deal done. Then again, it's hard to see why Everton's stance would have changed with the club still counting on Stones as their talisman at the back.

One thing that is clear is how Chelsea must find an infusion of fresh talent to overhaul their creaky defence. Young Frenchman Kurt Zouma is a starting point, but the 21-year-old central defender needs help.

Needing to replace some ageing players isn't an issue restricted to Chelsea's defence, though.

MLS Side Want Radamel Falcao
Radamel Falcao's ill-fated stint in the Premier League could be nearing a merciful end. MLS side Columbus Crew are apparently in talks concerning the Monaco loanee's future, according to the Daily Mirror (h/t Rhys Turrell of the Daily Star).

Yet while many may be anxious to see the back of him, the report claims there is a potential snag in the talks: "But Chelsea may have to wait until March to get Falcao’s £140,000-per-week pay packet off the wage bill as the MLS season doesn’t start for another two months."

Falcao hasn't made the grade at Chelsea, just like he didn't make the grade at Old Trafford for United last season. Once one of Europe's deadliest finishers, he's become a forgotten man.

Chelsea don't have much behind starting striker Diego Costa. The club has even blocked a move away for Frenchman Loic Remy, their only recognised cover, according to the Sun.

It says a lot about how far Falcao's stock has fallen that a club otherwise desperate to keep strikers is still keen to rid itself of one.

So far, Chelsea's transfer pattern this winter has yet to be shaped. The current rumours are more about who interim manager Guus Hiddink won't be getting.

Of those he might, the continued links to Stones remain interesting. He's young and skilled enough to fill a major need for a squad that's been consistently undermined by its problems at the back this season.

Chelsea transfer news: Gareth Bale for Eden Hazard, farewell to Falcao?
What does the future hold for Blues star Eden Hazard now that Zinedine Zidane has taken over the reins at Real Madrid?

According to the London Evening Standard Chelsea's Belgian playmaker, who has been linked to the Spanish giants in the past, could now be top of Zidane's shopping list this summer, if not sooner.

Hazard has endured a terrible season amid claims of a falling out with former boss Jose Mourinho. "Despite his problems, Chelsea will not want to sell their prize asset," says the paper. "But with Chelsea unlikely to qualify for next season's Champions League, Real Madrid hope to capitalise."

But there could be a silver lining for the Blues, says the Daily Mirror, which claims that the Blues are ready to rival Manchester United for the hand of Gareth Bale. The paper hints that a deal might be done with Madrid in which they take the Welshman in exchange for Hazard.

One player who will not be leaving the Bridge this month is Loic Remy, with The Sun reporting that the Frenchman "has been told he is almost certainly staying put". Newcastle, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have all been linked with the Gallic goal-getter of late but the Sun says the Blues board are reluctant to allow Remy to leave now that they appear to have turned the corner.

Interim Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink is said to be a fan of Remy's, even though he's aware he wants more game time. With Radamel Falcao's loan move to Chelsea a complete washout, Remy's importance is such that the club will look to fight off approaches from Premier League rivals while assuring Remy he has a bright future in west London.

As for Falcao, the Mirror says he is a "target for MLS side Columbus Crew". The 29-year-old Colombian, described by the paper as a "flop", has made just one start since arriving from Monaco and though he's currently sidelined with a thigh strain, he could move Stateside in time for the start of the MLS season in March.

Meanwhile the Daily Mail claims that Chelsea will have to tussle with Tottenham for the hand of Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel. The reigning League champions reportedly "held talks with the 26-year-old about a £23m transfer" last summer but the deal fell through. Since then Spurs have appeared on the scene but the Mail says Chelsea are still interested in the Belgium international and could make a move this month.

Chelsea transfer news: Blues fight Man Utd for Sadio Mane

Chelsea are ready to take on Manchester United for the hand of Sadio Mane after the Southampton frontman allegedly fell out with Saints manager Ronald Koeman.

With Mane's future up in the air United were linked to the 23-year-old Senegalese forward over the weekend, but the International Business Times claims Chelsea are now zeroing in on the player, who is set "to have talks with the [Saints] management over his situation" on the south coast.

Koeman would like to keep hold of Mane but the IBT says if a bid lands on his desk in excess of £30m then the striker will likely be on his way out of St Mary's.

A tug of war between Chelsea and Manchester City is also looming with Javier Pastore caught in the middle. According to the Daily Express, both clubs "are monitoring" his situation at Paris Saint-Germain.

But the tug of war could become a Mexican stand-off as Juventus are also interested in the player and the Italian champs apparently ready to stump up the French club's asking price of £40m. French media outlet BuzzSport makes Juventus "favourites" to sign the 26-year-old Argentina international.

Pastore is allegedly unhappy at his lack of game time because of the presence of Angel di Maria and Lucas Moura but his move to Juventus could yet fall through if the Italians fail to sell Paul Pogba this month. Barcelona and Chelsea have both been linked over the Christmas period to Pogba but reports from Italy suggest any deal won't happen till the summer.

Chelsea transfer news: Blues to spend big on Vardy in January

Get ready for some high rolling in west London in the new year, with Chelsea set to hand intermin manager Guus Hiddink the funds he needs to buy his way out of trouble.

"Blues owner Roman Abramovich is ready to bankroll a big move in the January market and trusts Hiddink to identify targets despite only being caretaker manager," reports the Daily Mirror, which says that Leicester City goal machine Jamie Vardy is likely to be his number one target.

That might explain reports of a showdown brewing between Hiddink and French striker Loic Remy. According to the Daily Mail the pair will "hold talks" over Remy's future at the Bridge, with the paper claiming that Southampton are hovering in the background, ready to pounce if the France international decides his time at Chelsea is up.

Swansea, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are said to be interested in taking the 28-year-old on loan, while the Mail says that French clubs St Etienne and Lille have also been in touch with Remy's people. The frontman joined Chelsea last year for £10.5m but his appearances have been restricted by the presence of Diego Costa, and Remy knows he must put himself in football's shop window in the coming months if he's to have any chance of making France's squad for the European Championships.

Chelsea transfer news: 'rat' Cesc Fabregas set to bail out

Is Cesc Fabregas poised to quit Chelsea after being branded a "rat" by Chelsea fans in the wake of Jose Mourinho's exit? According to Metro the former Barcelona midfielder, accused of undermining his boss at the Bridge, is "keen" on a move to Manchester City along with Pedro providing Pep Guardiola takes over at the Etihad Stadium.

It's widely reported that Guardiola will replace Manuel Pellegrini as boss next season, and Metro says if that's the case one of his first moves will be to lure Fabregas and Pedro to the Etihad.

The paper says the pair, who "have had their difficulties this season at Stamford Bridge" would look favourably on such a move, particularly Fabregas who the Daily Mail reports has been vilified by the Chelsea faithful for what they see as his part in Mourinho's downfall.

But Talksport claims that City might face competition from Real Madrid for the hand of Fabregas. Apparently the Spanish outfit are preparing an "ambitious approach" for the playmaker as they look to "bridge the gap between themselves and arch-rivals Barcelona" and believe the 28-year-old Spaniard could be tempted by a return to his homeland.

Fabregas could be joined by another Chelsea player who has come in for stick over the departure of Mourinho - Eden Hazard. Talksport reports that the Belgian is also wanted by Los Blancos and remains a target despite his poor form this season.

With Chelsea in turmoil it's perhaps no surprise to hear Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang distance himself from rumours linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Borussia Dortmund sharpshooter has banged in 18 goals so far this season and as a result the Gabon goal machine has been mentioned as a Chelsea target. Arsenal were also said to be sniffing around but in conversation with German magazine Kicker, Aubameyang made a point of emphasising how happy he was in Germany.

"I am very happy here. Dortmund has become my second home," he declared. "Every goal I score feels like the first. It's a special feeling to play in front of these fans."

But with Guus Hiddink back at Chelsea following the departure of Jose Mourinho, there is no shortage of gossip as Hiddink scouts Europe for new talent to bolster his squad at the Bridge.

The latest name to be linked to the Blues is Real Madrid star James Rodriguez, with the Daily Star claiming Chelsea's Dutch manager "has issued his first transfer request" to the Chelsea board.

The paper quotes Spanish outlet Fijaches in saying Hiddink is desperate to bring the Colombian to Chelsea, particularly after it was reported in some quarters that Arsenal and Manchester City were both also on the tail of Rodriguez.

The South American, allegedly unsettled at Madrid under Rafa Benitez, is now likely to be targeted by Hiddink after he was "given the green light" by Roman Abramovich to make a move next month.

All is not well at Stamford Bridge after the departure of Jose Mourinho, with the Chelsea faithful booing their own players during Saturday's win over Sunderland. So it's obvious that fresh blood is required and according to The Sun that could mean a call for Karim Benzema.

The paper says new Blues boss Guus Hiddink is "eyeing a shock move" for the Real Madrid marksman, although he faces competition from Manchester City.

The 28-year-old Benzema, currently embroiled in a blackmail scandal, was linked to Arsenal over the summer but it now looks like a shootout between Chelsea and City for his services next month.

Chelsea had been linked to Jamie Vardy and Saido Berahino when Jose Mourinho was still in charge, but the Sun says Hiddink "will consider the Real Madrid star". So will Citzens gaffer Manuel Pellegrini with both clubs reportedly in contact with Bernabeu president Florentino Perez, and ready to "sound him out over a £40m move next month".

Meanwhile the Sunday People claims that Chelsea are also sniffing around Liverpool striker Christian Benteke. The paper says that the 25-year-old, who arrived at Anfield in a £32.5m deal from Aston Villa last summer, was one of Mourinho's "priority targets", and it seems Hiddink will follow through and make a bid for Benteke next month.

Would Liverpool be willing to offload the frontman? Yes, says the People, particularly as Benteke has "struggled to adapt" to Jurgen Klopp's style of play since the German replaced Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool boss. But it looks likely that Liverpool would insist on a permanent transfer rather than a six-month loan deal.

Finally, Caughtoffside.com claims that Chelsea have "made contact" with ESTAC Troyes goalkeeper Paul Bernardoni. The 18-year-old has been Troyes standout performer for the French clubs in Ligue 1 this season, and the Gallic media says Hiddink is aware of the teenage gloveman's promise and will make a move in a couple of weeks.
