My XBOX360 having freeze problems after i update the latest dashboard which is yesterday if i m not wrong!!

Now when i play GOW or Need for Speed Carbon, my console keep on freeze where a lot of line appear on the screen and just hang!!!

I even got 3ROR for 2 times but after i off and on few times then ok back!! But it keep on freeze and sometime i just on the xbox360 and it freeze at the Big LOGO there!!

It was like this after i update the dashboard!!!

What happen to my console? Any one can help to solve?

my xbox got hang also but not ROD, it's the stupid dashboard hang problem. sometimes 1 day can kena damn alot of times

yalah wt the xxxx the ms dashboard update!! everytime create prob!! now everytme i play sure got 1 or 2 time freeze and hang.

when off n on back si pek scare got ROD coz kena before but luckily after unplug all cable then normal back!!

Any expert can help ah? Any way to reupdate the dashboard?

Same thing happened to my 1st console.....it'll just freeze all of a sudden with lines on the screen and with a loud screeching sound as a bonus.....after a while, came the dreaded 3RODs......

But that wasn't due to any update at all, it just decided to do it. So maybe it could be just a coincidence that it happened after you updated. I'd suggest just go and repair it, as it's more to a hardware problem than a software one IMO.

So wt hv u done on ur 1st console?

Where can we repair in msia as the only technical support for ms is in singapore?

UPDATE: (I posted this at xbox.com as well, but wanted to share with you guys here in case it might help)

Just wanted to update everyone on my situation. It may help some of you, or it may not. I spoke with a customer service rep and believe it or not she helped resolve the problem. What she had me do was:

1. disconnect everything from the console (all plugs, controllers, network) as well as disconnect the power brick from the outlet.

2. Plug the power brick directly into the wall outlet (she said that it shouldn't be plugged into a surge protector as the console draws too much power and has a built in surge protector).

3. Reconnect the network adapter, power cord, and anything else you disconnected in the first step.

4. Turn on your console and go to the dashboard.

5. Clear your HDD cache (there is a code that must be entered - call support or search the internet for how to do this).

6. After the cache has been cleared... Reboot and all should be golden.

This has worked for me so far, maybe it'll work for others. Hopefully the problem will not return, but signs are positive because prior to the call to customer support the console would freeze up or I'd get the 3 red lights within minutes of being turned on. But I was just playing it for about an hour and no prob. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

just now tried the clear cache maintenance. but still the getting "unplayable disc" msg.

After clear the cache, my xbox360 fully 3ROD. Now not even can on d, every time also 3ROD. Sign.

Its from penang (Megamall Pacific, butterworth), haiiiii die die!!!!

Sure the shop wouldnt wan to do it for me d!!

send back to the shop and ask them send for warranty at msoft singapore. if not, courier on your own to singapore.

Just asked Connie of Imbi Mario ( +603-21487717 ) whether the shop can assist customer who faced with the 3ROD and was told that she can recommend somebody who might be of any help.

Mine also having the same problems, but thank god after few re-tries it manage to boot up the games, but the DVD-rom drive sounds very un-healthy, wonder it was really the update tat causes the prob?

you already had ROD before the update something was wrong before already

you also got the "unplayable disc"? what do you mean very un-healthy? the sound very loud?

mine there is not sound of disc spinning at all.

If you've got that problem I suggest you don't keep using it until you can get it repaired properly. You don't wanna kill it while it's still on the verge of dying.

ya something similiar to that, but after a few tries then able to boot it
after the update, the next day i played shutokou battle X for 1 hr ++, than after few hr later wanted to try DOA4, there is where the problem start coming in, cant boot DOA4 for a few times, than manage to get in to the game , after DOA4, wanted to play GOW than same error again, had to reboot few time only manage to boot it , really scare the shit out of me

if u are having so much problems with it, better send to the shop u bought from for service

i see the last game you played is UNO.....
read it somewhere that this update will make the xbox to make sure there's a adequate supply of watts before it play games. so it is best to plug it directly to wall socket. going to try now and hopefully can revive my drive.

First, keep on hang easily then later on kena 3ROD then after totally cannot boot n on d.

It happen to mine 1 after I update the firmware!!! Shit!!

I already return to the shop but can get 1:1 exchange or not still yet to know!!

Why Msoft keep on update shit firmware and freeze our original box 1!!
Really fed up d, if keep on like this what for we buy original which making us more risk for hving 3ROD.

Syuji, how long you bought your 360 already? You play it very frequent like 4 hours a day?

Mine xbox360 only 3 weeks and average only play about 4 days per weeks with ~2-3hrs.

msoft MUST do something about this but very sad because most of us here supported original and still not entitle for warranty coverage from msoft.

if xbox360 only allow 4 hours of gaming per day then no point of having a nextgen console.

* sorry ah, a bit pissed because syuji kena 3ROD... respected syuji so much because he just a student and yet 100% original for xbox360.

I just read throudh the XBOX web forum and found out that a lot of ppls kena this freezes and 3ROD issues after update the latest dashboard.

The update should be around end of Nov or early of Dec'06 and it suppose to fix the 1080p and VGA issues but now it kill most of the original xbox360. Really dunno what happen to msoft as they never really fully tested the dashboard then just release it to the live.

All of them frequently getting screen freeze with white or blue grid on it then later on will be suffering the 3ROD.

Seem like msoft still not really fix this issues till now so all of you better dont update as it will randomly kill certain XBOX360 especailly those using VGA.

It was said that this update includes an updated movie player specifically for then launched HD-DVD player. It was made of up to 4.7 million line of code. Somewhere they screw up.

but the wierd parts is~ after the updates... its like ... what ? 2 week plus~. then it comes with the 3 red light... hm...

and there is actually 2 updates..

one is the fall update.. and the other is the 1080p fix update

I think the 1080p fix update should be the 1 causing problems as after I update the fall 1 then no issues but just after the 1080p fix then immediately freezes very very frequent in 2 days then on the 3rd days gone with 3ROD.

Did msoft announce for any fix now?

Well, mine got kaput 2 weeks ago, do some research on the net on how to fixed it and tried almost everything but failed. However, today, I decided to open up my box and stripped it to the bone. Still don't know what to do, feeling a little bit frustrated I bang the heatsink a few time with the screwdriver and put my fan on the 3rd gear with the DVD Rom out of the box (still connected) and tried to play GOW (finger crossed). AND IT WORKS..it is a miracle...after two of my fingers bleeding (kena heatsink..be very carefull..tajam)..lastly it is good as new. But dare not to ruin it again, I decided not to put it back together. I wish I have a camera so I can show all of you how the 360 look like after I open it up...(anyway, as long as it can play games I am happy with it)

BTW how many Lowyat forumer got the 3 rod problem? Do you guys play overnight or it's just went wrong in sudden?

it doesnt matter how long you play...long hours wont cause 100% 3rod...
i guess its the update that killed my 360 or its the power supply problem
