QUOTE(idoblu @ Jan 13 2016, 07:10 PM) Guys do you think this filter is the real thing? Seems too cheap to be true. Plus it says no warranty RM296 for a 49mm filter is NOT what you call cheap! http://shashinki.com/shop/zeiss-49mm-carl-...oducts_id=13880 |

Speaking of fitlers, which 72mm Circular Polarizer Filter brand would you recommend ?
Zeiss, Hoya or B&W ? |

QUOTE(Jimsee @ Jan 15 2016, 07:18 PM) Not with the 1635 unfortunately. I can give an essay on vignetting with NDs and CPLs for the Samyang 12 APSC though if anyone's interested. That said, as long as it's one of the newer ultra-slim CPLs and you're not stacking, I "think" it should be fine. Do check with uncle Google/DPR forums though. |

Do double check with uncle Google/DPR forums though. As for brand, it's pretty much a toss up between the mechanical superiority of the B+W (yeah B+W does make em really well) and the T* of the Zeiss, considering they're both in the ++ price bracket. Not that the B+W coatings are bad... just the T* is... well... the T*. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Jan 16 2016, 12:26 AM |

I might considering buying the Zeiss CPL since it has the same coating with my 1635. That said, as long as it's one of the newer ultra-slim CPLs and you're not stacking, I "think" it should be fine. So i'm a bit worried if I have to get the 10 stops one. |

QUOTE(Jimsee @ Jan 16 2016, 12:50 AM) Thanks. I might considering buying the Zeiss CPL since it has the same coating with my 1635. Stick with B+W for the strong NDs if you have the dough... but it does give you a colour cast unfortunately... Heck even the Lee Big Stopper has a colour cast lol. What about which brand should i get for ND filter (10 stops)? I was using H&Y ND400 , and it gives me vignetting issue. So i'm a bit worried if I have to get the 10 stops one. Otherwise the Haida brand slim ND1000 is a good alternative, but it flares more (of course) and it still gives you a slight cast. STAY AWAY from the newer Hoya HD ND1000s - apparently they make pictures noticeably less sharp for some unknown reason. They don't have much of a colour cast though, which makes it even stranger. If you have endlessly deep pockets and don't mind shipping stuff from the US, there's also Breakthrough Photography, a relatively new kickstarted brand that makes awesome filters (but for a super premium 'upper bracket' price of course). Supposedly their newest X3 ND1000 is top pick of the ND litter because it only has VERY LITTLE colour casting and is very, very sharp. Unfortunately, the X3 also makes the B+W filter (or even Zeiss... if they have ND1000 stuff) seem... well... reasonably priced in comparison lol. Supposedly lah. I haven't tested the Breakthrough stuff myself so I can't say for sure. Plus USD180 w/o shipping for the 72mm ND1000 is a bit too rich for my amateur blood. That said, I just lost my Zomei ND1000 (AND my CPL + ND16 + Tamrac Filter Case) during my last trip... so I might just bite the bullet for one of their NDs (maybe one of the X2 ND32/6-stoppers) and see what the fuss is all about.
