The new minister should look into the lousy Touch n Go system while promoting cashless system at their tolls. Cannot believe after using for 20 years TnG is still more or less the same lousy as before. Surcharge to top up, surcharge to use at parking, old card cannot use to paywave, inactive after 1 year gets deactivated, expired card charged RM5 to transfer fund, RM10 for an empty card, top up at apps don't sync with your card, etc etc etc....

Why Starbucks can do it so easily?
*
starbucks didnt do it 20yrs ago mah.

there were countless technological advances within 2 decades since TNG's inception.

simply said, TNGSB should just do a massive migration, and we're still stucked with them due to monopoly in early days.

whatever the argument is, TNGSB should face the paradigm shift for their infra.

Because there's no medium to transfer or update the physical card.
Few years back, TnG did offer a DIY reload kit to end users like us. Not sure if that kit has been discontinued.
*
for touch n go zing card (auto reload from credit card), there is also no medium to transfer or update the physical card, but the automatic reload can be done

therefore i think it is not too difficult for TnG company to implement reload via TnG app, without the need to go to the so called pick up location

Actually I don't know and curious on how Zing auto reload is implemented.
IMHO, it shouldn't be that hard to do so.

zing is a different mess. it works like debit card that's linked with bank. it actually pushes/updates the card balance upon your next touch at reader/smarttag <-- still need a device to transfer. it's not realtime.

then there's this processing fee of rm2, it's like a surcharge by merchants for using cc.

there are many issues with zing, autoreload not working, etc etc

that is why zing autoreload works at toll sites only, not at other places/merchants.

The self-service machine in TnG Hub accepts AmEx, unless they remove it.

It works like Samsung Pay?
You tap you phone on the special pad or the usual TnG pad?

Some station have special lane with camera, just scan the QR code like movie ticket... benefit of QR code is any phone can use it...
But in future when the ICPS system is integrated then we can use paywave/apple pay/samsung pay on it la that would be even cooler.
