I also plan to install a outdoor filter. Most membrane now can filter up to 0.01 micron right? So i guess clean water is not a problem ...
*
It looks clean or clear and because of its fine pore size, 0.01 micron membrane only deals with sediments and most microbes, amoeba, and viruses. These typically are larger than 0.04 micron. Heavy metals, organic chemical pollutants if present in trace form (or within drinking standard limits) in the water, VOC along with the inorganic minerals are not filtered out at this point. Also generic water testing kits are inadequate in detecting with an already growing lists of industry pollutants. Some known are listed here but majority are not listed doesn't necessarily mean they are not present. Known industry chemical present are treated with a flocculant, a chemical that makes the pollutant precipitate as solid for physical removal. This would bring it's concentration down to "safe" drinking standards but doesn't mean it's not there if already present. The other thing is the standards deals with known clear present threats to drinking water quality but what about unknown for which there's not yet a long term study and which may result in a different standard of filtering that does yet exist. Some folks I had the chance to meet who are in this industry for a long time and these are normal folks. They are honest and sincere and did not alter their position. The same question was posed to me which at that time was not ready to confront was which purification process removed the known and unknown effectively. They showed me a chart from a book written by a science journalist who took the task to this question. The answer was confirmed by the folks collecting water from the side of the water catchment hills after heavy rain.

I drink alkaline water directly (without boiling) from my Panasonic TK-AS40 for more than 3 years, I replace the filter cartridge with TK-AS45C1 (Removes 13+4 Substances), instead of the TK-AS40's recommended filter cartridge TK7505C1 (Removes 5 Substances).

Have been using it for 3+ years, so far so good.

The replacement cartridge cost about RM330 for the TK7505C1 (Removes 5 Substances), RM450 for the TK-AS45C1 (Removes 13+4 Substances). Get it from PanaShop or buy it during Aeon Jaya Jusco sale...a bit cheaper.

Btw, the cartridge can last for 12,000 liters and recommended to replace yearly. If your family drink 30 liters of water a day = 900 liters a month = 10,800 liters a year, it should last you slightly more than a year, small family drink less water.. may last more than 1.5 to 2 years smile.gif

if daily 5L of drink water, that is 12000/5/365=6.5yrs the filter can last.

Hmm... can consider.

30Liter for a family daily is like 10-12person ?

Only 4 family members, estimated 10 liters a day, about 3,650 liters a year, I change the filter every two years, although it can last three years plus...dare not uses one filter more than two years smile.gif

You can go for 3yrs and it still below the filter spec. Should be alright.

It is Panasonic filter. I have more confident on it.

yes, technically the filter can last 3 years, since the usage is below 12,000 liters... but mentally dare not use sweat.gif

Bought it because the unit and replacement filter is made in Japan and the replacement filter can purchased retails shop, unlike those direct selling brand that must get from MLM companies.

There is. It is just hydrogen enriched water. The latest gimmick since alkaline water. The problem with all these is the claim that they are better than normal water is based on small sample size (eg. 10 or 100 max) and hardly conclusive. My parents and grandparents live long life drinking boiled tap water. I doubt I can live longer than them drinking these "magic fluids"
