The commentators that u get over here on Serie A and La Liga sux. I'm not sure about Serie A but some Spanish commentators who do La Liga matches are as fun as it can get. "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! GOGOGOGOGOGOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL" Classic. And what's this crap about major european competitions cause as far as i know, of the 3 big leagues, the EPL has the least number of champions.

QUOTE(TheNameX @ Dec 1 2006, 07:23 PM) Wah... ready to get flame by the Serie A fans, kid. Is European Champion League "big" enough to be a major European cup ?? If yes, look at this, http://www.uefa.com/competitions/ucl/history/index.html FYI, Serie A is even called as "mini World Cup" for their quality and ofc, wages. If I were you, I'll delete that post before get flamed to dead. Back to the topic, IMHO, EPL is more popular in Asia, comparing to the rest of the leagues is mainly because of their marketing strategy. Commentator play a major role, it make ppl (like me) get excited when watching the match. The commentator start to shout the striker name even if the striker only just got the ball and looks like want to shoot. Too exaggerated, but hey, that's how you attract people. But Seria A and La Liga, even a striker score, the dull and robotic voice of the commentator, "It's a goal..." For I the first one not going to feel excited by those comment. But in terms of quality football, Serie A's teams still a forces to be reckoned with. I even sometimes think they are better than EPL. Well i'm just giving out my opinion Liverpool also won the european cup 5 times wut. @reds Eh dude don't go off topic what's with ajax bayern munich italy Real Madrid This is seria A please stick with topic This post has been edited by Joshiet: Dec 1 2006, 09:23 PM

-cheers- well, i guess i would sleep if the commentator is hasbullah awang... football commentators should shout and scream like mad when they were a goal... well, we for sure will feel inspired and stay awake especially involving matches late at night... Hmm....i think defend minded team also appear in EPL,so as La Liga,u can't take 1 defensive team and describe the whole league is defend minded. the main reason i don't like to watch Serie A because of the audience in stadium,it looks like playing football in malaysia

Getting Started

|
Actually Serie A is not as boring as many people think. Agree with many people who said that the commentator is not as good as the EPL ones. Not enthusiastic at all...I'm not sure about you guys but i feel there's something wrong with the camera angle too. Seems like the pitch is too far away.
I don't agree with some of the comments made which said the fans are not as vocal as the EPL ones. I've been to stadiums before. No matter how badly any team plays, the fans are crazy. They will be shouting for the whole 90 minutes. Trust me. The quiet moments are the sometimes usually the extremely exciting moments when everyone is really paying attention. Then when some team miss a good chance, you can hear the " AHHHH"s and the "BOOO"s. The only difference is the EPL ones sound louder in TV. I don't know why. Better sound card huh?
Anyway, sometimes football is about tactics. Brilliant defending is always a joy to watch. Best example is Cannavaro in the world cup. However the greatest joy is always a goal feast. What I feel is any games from any leagues can be exciting. It's just up to the people watching them. Sometimes those games in the "taman" without any "rumput" can be mouth-watering too...Hehehe.
Roma die hard fan here too...I was trying to be completely unbiased in this post. Hope I succeeded.

-cheers- again, i would recommend u to try to watch them on foreign channels if u got the chances. u'll b amazed by how far n crazy those Italian commentators can go. QUOTE(Joshiet @ Dec 2 2006, 02:39 AM) At least they went to the finals.Ahem*.Who said besides man u and liverpool. So middlesbrough not english team? firstly, u told some1 else that "this is seria A please stick with topic", n now u bring up this bullcrap urself. nice shooting at ur own foot, eh ? 2nd, UEFA Cup ? r u kidding me ? is that thing qualify as 'major european cup' ? no offence to any1 who hav their clubs playing for this trophy, but for me UEFA Cup is juz like a plastic made Mickey Mouse cup, compare to the CL.

You have to remember that European competitions are cup competitions so u will get a few surprises here and there (Remember Porto and Monaco?). Middlesborough were very lucky to get to the finals and they ran out of it when it mattered most. And "besides man u and liverpool" was obviously referring to the European Cup/Champions League. How convenient is it to close one eye just to justify your "opinion"

epl matches are getting boring except for few attacking teams. but the commentator and the atmosphere is a bit different from la liga and seria A. i wont deny that at times, i felt asleep watching liverpool play, but at least when liverpool score...i will certainly cheer loud for them.
i wont say UEFA cup is mickey mouse cup, it was like years ago when MU treat the same to carling cup. most club will appreciate cup more when they failed to win anything, just ask any major clubs whether they want to finish empty handed or having UEFA trophy on their cabinet.

Even when we won the Carling Cup last season, we still started the first two games in it with mostly reserve/backup players. Never change. If you win it, well, nice, if you don't... not gonna hurt you much, except when you lose in the final, especially to your rivals.
Serie A to me is boring. Maybe its the atmosphere we can't hear on our tv, or the robotic commentators... they sound really bad, whats worse there's almost no background sounds... but really whenever I've watch it, it's like pedestrian pace. Juve with Capello... boring. However, I don't follow the league that much, only the occasional big games sometimes, even that I don't watch heh, too late for me. So I may be talking out of my arse here. But surely the reputation is not just suka-suka made up.
The quality are maybe a bit more superior to the English league, and also Italian clubs may be more successful than the English clubs in Europe, but it doesn't mean the league is more exciting. Well I dont read the previous pages, so I don't really know what you guys meant by that success in Europe stuff, but what I said above is what I feel right now. heh. ManUtd(well, maybe not recently), Chelsea, Liverpool & Arsenal all do pretty well in the CL last few years, Leeds when they were on top. So its not all that bad. English clubs only recently are able to attract the world class players, in the early 90's not that much movement, was behind Serie A in terms of wages they could offer. Also got banned from Europe for a few years in the 80's right? It all played a part.
I wouldn't look much in the the winning cup stuff, its a lottery. Good tactics, right kind of form... and you'll win it. Of course also need the players, but not always the best team wins. Liverpool-Milan, Porto-Monaco in the final? And Germany in the WCs. Crap in qualifying, but finished runners up behind Brazil. Spain look like they almost never do anything special..
But one thing I agree, the English(national and clubs) seem to struggle againts teams who are good with the ball at their feet(those technical stuff heh). No idea why. Its because the players & coaching maybe, all need to get stuck in and physical. Need an overhaul of their youth coaching at grassroots level.
...... Agree about the EPL getting boring. Most teams know they can't survive againts the big teams, so they play defensive.
