now just need some $$ to add another stick of ram and ssd

can anyone recommend a suitable and durable ssd for 7559? i believe it's m.2 sata 2280 ssd type?

No diff for average users, maybe got difference for "special" people.

Either way, your money, your call.

Some people want to get the best specs ever.

4k high resolution is nice for photo editing and 4k video viewing, but u need a high end gpu for gaming.
FHD is sufficient at the moment. smile.gif

for gaming...GPU more important..better get atleast gtx960m than 950m, marginaly better.
the cpu i5 and i7 diff thread count no impact on gaming and both wont be bottleneck

would like to share some insight on personal experience and thoughts on the dell 7559. hopefully will give some rough idea and what to expect for those out there considering to purchase this laptop.

currently using the base model installed with win10. bought at retail price back few months.

- bootup to windows takes around 25sec from the point power button pressed. to get all background app running maybe close to a minute or more depending on how many apps available (including taskbar app). for me around a minute. only steam and razer synapse in taskbar. for some reason if restart pc and reboot it will take double the time. no idea why.. any other user facing same issue here? do share.
- after complete boot (all background app and taskbar), hardisk will run at 100% in task manager for the next 2-3mins even if idle not doing anything. then will go down to 0%. not sure why but probably got some background app still running or loading.
- shutdown takes around 20sec till power button light off.
- keyboard sometimes doesn't register keystroke properly if press too soft. need to be harder. backlight is fine. can adjust two levels of brightness. don't like up and down directional key cause too small.
- trackpad no comment. use mouse since it's a gaming laptop.
- speaker and subwoofer is acceptable. can get quite loud but too loud will cause sound to breakup but depends on audio quality. woofer bass can't really hear much.
- display is acceptable as well. not the most accurate color production panel. highest brightness and color saturation is ok too.
- wifi works great. signal pickup is strong and stable. always on fullbar. using it in the room with door always close. modem in another room.
- battery life is decent since it's big and heavy. laptop weights 2.7kg because of it. full charge takes around 2hrs+-
- cooling is quite good. not using any apps or software to get temp readings. played games like bf3 and watchdogs on high to ultra settings for couple of hours straight. palm rest part not hot at all. middle part of speaker gets hot (since 2 heatsink located behind it) but not to a point like scalding hot till u can't touch. just discomfort.
- gpu performance was solid but it's highly dependent on what version of the driver installed. depends whether the driver is compatible with the game or not. each update will impact a little bit. sometimes better, sometimes worst.

one thing would like to advise those who's going to buy this laptop, get at least 8gb of ram. when bought new, was running on stock spec 4gb ram, watchdogs stutters and lag during gameplay in crowded area. after upgrade, stutter and lag gone almost completely. only will stutter when scene just completely load. after walking around a while, everything was fine. bf3 on ultra settings runs smooth hitting 60fps almost all the time. windows also got snappier and faster.

it's a fantastic laptop considering the price compared to other laptops in the same tier and spec which cost even more.

do ask if missed any points.

*updates*
- build quality was good. hinges is sturdy but the screen panel flexes a little too much. gotta give extra care and attention on this part as too much flexes going on might damage it (especially when opening the lid). entire laptop have this matte rubbery feel kinda surface except bottom panel is plastic. looks great but not friendly towards people who have sweaty hands/palms as it could turn into a smudges magnet (especially the black color variant). im using the black color and have very minimal sweaty hands/palms but smudges still noticeable. that shows how prone it is.
- tried the trackpad and it got this coarse kinda surface over the conventional smooth plastic or glass like finishing. perhaps for accuracy and precision? not sure bout that but overall not that great.
- bottom panel offers very easy access for upgradability. one screw and the panel comes off.
