But may I know... what is the difference between 2-way speaker and 3-way speaker?? And is there any other type of speaker??

I never thought there is so many type of speakers for car... 2-way and 3-way... haiyo... very hard la when I've become interested with this kind of things (just started weeks ago though blush.gif )

First tweeters and now speakers... I do manage to find information about tweeters though... but what about speakers?? Is there 1-way speaker?? Is this suppose to refer to the wiring type or maybe sound quality produce???

hmm... for beginner i would explain it like this..

there r high, mid and low.. if 2-way means that u have high and mid while the 3-way is high mid and low..

if u r talking in speakers term.. 6x9 (oval looking type of speakers) is actually a 3-way speaker..

if u r talking about component speakers.. there is a tweeter (high), mid woofer (mid) and woofer (low)..

so, what ride r u in?

Oh... thanks a lot for your explanation... notworthy.gif So what the person told me in my second post is actually correct la?? In someways...

I understand... to put it simply... 3-way speaker is better than 2-way right... since it can produce all 3 type of sound...

OK... I have a clearer understanding about ICE and it's component now... only now I dare to plan on the ICE setup for my Kancil smile.gif

thanks a lot for your clarification thumbup.gif that clears a lot of confusion in my mind...

if u want some guidance, try checking out the pinned up at the ICE section here... smile.gif

Now something caught my eyes... when you mention about component speakers. Is this a speaker consist of 2-way or 3-way?? Or maybe another type??

And how much did you spend for the quoted setup above??

Thank you very much for your explanation... really helps me a lot in understanding this ICE stuff... thumbup.gif blush.gif

my setup cost me around rm6k+/- cz it's the mid end setup..

there r 2 types of component speakers.. like u have mentioned there r 2-way and 3-way..

component speakers come in a set.. eg. a pair of tweeter and a pair of mid/mid woofer and a pair of crossover(2-way)..

wellll..... how to differentiate 1-way or 2-way or 3-way speakers

lets say in 1 unit got only 1 speaker cone then it is 1-way
2 speaker cone means 2-way and 3 for 3-way

a components set is actually 2 1-way speakers; a tweeter and a mid

a coaxial is a 2-way as in 1 unit there are 2 speakers cones, sort of a 2-in-1
a 6x9, usually a 3-way there are 3 speaker cones, sort of a 3-in-1

btw dun confuse with a 3-way speaker with a 3 way setup wink.gif

environment, speaker type, acoustic, volume everything is different

rm200 can get u some so-so speaker only

oh... very sorry for that sifus... sweat.gif

Simply to say...

2-way speaker will need a subwoofer to make the song perfect...

but, 3-way speaker is for those who don't have or plan any subwoofer for their setup... correct??

In this case... if I don't want to put woofer and amp yet want my system to sound... err... quite good arr... I should invest in a good Head Unit and a good 3-way speaker for the front of my car. No need for rear one rite???

Any sifu please help me clarify this... notworthy.gif

hie there, firstly u need to know the kind of speakers there are smile.gif .....current component setups are 2 type: 2 way and 3 way biggrin.gif .....2 way u can find a lot of them around, from cheaper and normal ones like BM boschmann or soundstream etc to high end ones like DLS, focal or MB quart etc.... thumbup.gif

3 way components are much more expensive cos they have added sound features and they sound far better than 2 way components....not sure wat features cos im new in ICE too... rolleyes.gif

the 3 way u talking about (no plans of subwoofer) is the 6X9 inch speaker setup, they are mostly good for rear speakers as they will pump out bass mostly tongue.gif ...but the sound mostly rojak since its 3 combined things mid, tweeter and bass....if u want good sound go for component sets for ur front door since most of the time u are driving the car, so u want urself to enjoy the music coming from front side whistling.gif .....imagine listening to a concert from the back of ur head, its not the way rite whistling.gif ?? if u atleast change the the front components first, u will have a good sound staging.... smile.gif

forget about the rear speakers for now rolleyes.gif ...if money is a concern, upgrade to amp and sub later on...if u worry about rear passenger not listening to music, then ur can use ur current P2 OEM speakers in the rear, but front go for component set that is an advice that most ppl would agree... wink.gif

as for 6X9 oval size speakers, they are good if lets say u want a simple setup.... blink.gif

sifus, please correct my phrases if any of it is wrong...thanks.... notworthy.gif

well said

but some correction
3 way doesn't mean must be better than 2 way
3 way is made to cover up the gap that is between the tweeter and the midbass (last time)

now the technology is so much superior
some manufacturer can come out with a 2 way that has overlap frequency of the tweeters and mid bass
so in this case u dun need to get a 3 way
moreover a 3 way is so much headache that speaker placing is so much more trouble and tuning will be another
shocker

make it simple

conventional 2 way
(100-250)(350-500)

notice there are a gap between 250 and 350
3 way is create to cover up that gap

now new technology enable the speaker to do
(100-300)(300-500)
now this 2 speaker doesn't have the gap betweem them

so we do not need the mid-range to cover up the gap
