so if uplift ambank 4.55% 5yr and put in ambank 4.6% 2yr got any penalty? will it consider fresh fund?

i guess we are going tro same musical chair cycle..
*
No, no penalty, but just no interest for 4.55% FD if you placed it less than 3 months.

Consider fresh fund..? hmm.gif
Am Bank Maluri said if use existing fund, just need to top up RM 10K fresh fund, or
top-up 20% fresh fund... When did you placed your 4.55% FD?

For my case, I can change because I just placed my 4.55% yesterday.

i also place it yesterday.. we are in same boat same time, just different branch i guess.. haha.
*
Ha... Really..? cheers.gif

I called Am Bank where I placed my 4.55% FD, the staff who picked-up the call said
I could only go back tomorrow to change the FD to 2 years 4.6%. because need 2 days
to clear my banker's check. So I will lose 2 days interest.

If I use cash to place 4.55% FD, then I can change to 2 years 4.6% immediately, no need to
wait until tomorrow.

Are you sure you will change to 4.6% tomorrow? biggrin.gif

But I checked the 2 years maturity date in 2017 calendar, 21 October 2017 is Saturday..
Am Bank does not pay interest for non working day wor.. so will we lose interest on
Sunday (22 Oct 2017)..? hmm.gif

0.05% extra means only RM50 extra for a 100k fd?
*
Yes.. RM 50 extra for RM 100K.

But the main issue is the tenure, why I wanted to place
in AM Bank for 5 years because I was greedy for the 4.55%.
Now since we can get 4.6% for 2 years, it is no longer necessary
to lock for 5 years.. My opinion only..

QUOTE(cherroy @ Oct 20 2015, 10:19 PM)
I need confirmation in B&W.  smile.gif

As, I don't want to go to branch and prepare to deposit, only found out, not available throughout or staff not aware got this promo.
I don't want to waste petrol, toll fee and time.
*
Oh.. Then you can call Am Bank in your town first before you go there.
I think 99.99% of change AM Bank in your town has this 4.6% promo available..

I just did an analysis:

(1) if we let it be to keep our 4.55% for 5 years, the maturity date is
Monday, 19 Oct 2020. Monday is perfect to uplift the FD.

(2) If we change to 4.6% for 2 years tomorrow , the maturity date will be
Saturday 21 October 2017, we will lose interest on Sunday (22 Oct 2017),
and also 2 days interest for yesterday and today..Total will lose 3 days interest.

sure will report back here tmr, only make a trip cause its nearby my place.

but lock in 5 years could be good in case year 3-5 opr drops?
*
Yes, you got a point here, 5 years is good to prevent if
OPR drops in next 5 years; but vise versa lah..if OPR goes up..
we will cry also no tear at that time...

Just like my OCBC 3.87% 18 months FD, OPR went up in 3 months after
I place it... sad.gif

95% of change tomorrow I will go back to Am Bank to change it to 2 years 4.6%..

Did you get any gift?

QUOTE(lowya @ Oct 20 2015, 10:48 PM)
ah.. this is pro level of analysis...  notworthy.gif

but in few hours time action (or not action) need to be taken.

whats the conclusion bro?
*
If we calm down and use logical thinking, we are supposed to change to 2 years
4.6%.

The main reason is that 4.55% probably is not good enough to secure us
in 5 years tenure.

So the conclusion is: we'd better change to 4.6%, furthermore our RM currency is
dropping recently. Maybe property bubble is coming in 2017, then we can use this money
to buy cheap property leh..?

no gift given by ambank, a bit stingy isnt it?

if u have view that opr will go up in 5 years time, that is the right move to go for shorter term with high rate. (logical thinking)

but i have zero prediction ability of opr in 5 years time, so i guess 0.05% is small unless u got 1 mil in there then it's worth the effort or parking, queuing waiting..
*
If you asked, most probably they would give you something like an umbrella.

Life is a gamble, nobody can predict future. But we can only take a guess or
professionals call it forecasting.

If want to continue with 5 years also can lah, at least we find a 5 years shelter
for this part of money.

If I got one million in Am bank, for sure I will change to 2 year 4.6%..

have u cancel the 4.55% for 4.6%?
*
Yes, I changed to 4.6% 2 years already.

Lost 2 day interest (Monday & Tuesday).
But the gain of 0.05% (4.6% - 4.55%) can cover the
loss of 2 days interest, after deduct the loss, still have
profit left.

But the most important issue is to shorten the tenure,
2 years instead of 5 years.

But who knows OPR will drop later..? hmm.gif

Just take it as a gamble since nobody knows the future,
if OPR goes up, you make less; if OPR goes down, you make more.
Anyway put in FD will not lose money.

I think you maintain your 5 years 4.55%..?

no, i just changed to same as you 4.6%, without fresh fund added, approved by branch manager.

in 2 years time, we shall discuss this again haha..
*
Oh..I did not add in any fresh fund either. cheers.gif
Am Bank withdrew the old 4.55% cert, and replaced a new FD
cert with 4.6%.

The staff from Raja Chulan has double confirmed that Am Bank
pays interest for Sunday, hopefully what she said was right.

Sure, we will talk about our Am Bank FDs in 2 years later.. biggrin.gif

AmBank - I AmBanking on Great Rates - Minimum Fresh Fund RM10K. Valid until 30 November 2015.

6 Months - 4.25% p.a.
24 Months - 4.6% p.a.

Hi, anyone knows if the above promotion is still available? Any extension?
*
I just came back from Am Bank

A bad news..
According to Am Bank, these 2 FD promo are no more available... sad.gif
AM Bank does not have any new FD promo now..

So I think the best so far are:
(1) Affin 15 months at 4.6% - valid until end of Dec
(2) OCBC 12 months at 4.5% - valid until end of Dec
(3) UOB 12 months at 4.4% - valid until end of Dec
(4) RHB 15 months at 4.4% - valid until March 2016
(5) Public Bank 12 months at 4.3% - valid until end of Dec

Received one SMS from BR yesterday:
Istimewa 4.3% p.a. Akaun Deposit-i Berjangka, 12 bln.
Berpeluang menangi hadiah menarik!

BR is out at this moment.. sweat.gif

The main issue is will Bank Negara follow US Federal Reserve to
raise Malaysia OPR or not..?? hmm.gif

So? Better to place FD in short term first?
Like 3 months?.. hmm.gif
