QUOTE(st4Lk3rz @ Dec 10 2015, 04:54 PM) Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 805 I already have a casing. So I can use it for the ram perhaps. Is the latest i5 expensive? The one with DDR4.Asus H81M-K - RM 240 Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM - RM 179 Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ZT-90310-10M - RM 799 WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215 FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189 Bitfenix NOVA - RM 149 Total - 2576 (Techview price inclusive GST) |

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 10 2015, 05:49 PM) Your current casing is ATX form factor, or at least mATX? (Just have to make sure it can fit the mobo) I see. I have a NZXT Phantom 410 casing so it shouldn't be a problem I think. Specs above looks great for the budget. But is the mobo good enough?Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 809 MSI H110M Pro-VH - RM 329 Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200 Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ZT-90310-10M - RM 799 WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215 FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189 Total: RM 2541 (Techview price inclusive GST) Latest Skylake i5 is same price as Haswell i5, the problem is the mobo which can support DDR4 is expensive, the lowest end chipset (H110) with DDR4 support is going to cost you RM 329, which is significantly more expensive than DDR3 based mobo. |

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 10 2015, 06:57 PM) It is the lowest end chipset, you can top up RM 70 for MSI B150 Bazooka D4 to get 2 extra RAM slots and more SATA ports. I'd probably go for the B150. Will be going to kl at the end of the year. Which shop would you guys recommend me to go to buy all those hardware? |

How much would Windows 10 be? Would have to reserve some cash from the budget for that too I guess.

Intel Core i5 6400 - RM 809
MSI B150 Bazooka D4 - RM399 Corsair 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 200 Zotac GTX960 2GB GDDR5 ZT-90310-10M - RM 799 WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 215 FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 189 Total: RM 2611 (Techview price inclusive GST) What if I add RM300 more for a Sapphire Nitro R9 390x 4gb? Would it make a lot of a difference in performance? How does MSI Bazooka D4 compare to MSI Gaming M3? |

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 14 2015, 08:49 AM) Opps sorry, R9 380x. But after surfing the net a bit last night, found out that the R9 cards need double to amount of power compared to the GTX960/970 cards.http://www.lelong.com.my/sapphire-nitro-r9...6-11-Sale-P.htm Yea, the B150 one. What is the difference between B150 & B170? Sorry, I have left the hardware community for so long. Was an avid hardware fan until the HD4850/4870 era. Then I bought a Macbook Air and after that a ps4. Left it until today and I am left behind completely now in the hardware community. Will try my best to learn as fast as possible. |

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 14 2015, 04:03 PM) Yep, AMD card requires more power compared to same tier's Nvidia card, so if you want to get AMD card, you are advised to top up some money for better PSU. I see, instead of adding money for a better PSU, I think it's wiser to go for the GTX970. Haha! I can minus the HDD from the list because I have 2 500gb HDDs from my old PC and use the money for the graphic card, or probably better ram.The difference between B150 and H170 isn't huge, H170 can support up to 8 USB 3.0 ports (support still based on manufacturer though) and RAID support etc. You can just get B150 chipset mobo if you are not going to use the features offered by H170, B150 is slightly cheaper than H170 in overall. Learning needs time so no worries, take your time Would the i5 6400 bottleneck the GTX970? Yeah, I don't think I will be using all those features so the B150 would be enough. Thank you so much for all the help btw, very helpful indeed 😁 This post has been edited by FaezFarhan: Dec 14 2015, 05:39 PM |

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 14 2015, 05:42 PM) An i5 can hardly bottleneck a GTX970 but it still has to depend on what games you play, those CPU demanding games will likely to hit max usage on all cores. I see, okay. Will go for the i5 6500, or i5 6600 if my budget allows. Is the Zotac GTX970 good enough? Rm600 difference from the GTX960.i5 6400 is 0.5GHz slower than i5 6500 (base clock), you can consider to upgrade to i5 6500 for slightly better base clock performance. |

QUOTE(Andrew_1980 @ Dec 14 2015, 08:56 PM) For me, the slightly faster/slower base clock don't take much effect. But it's up to you to choose which model you wtb. I see. Yeah, RM600 more expensive but it's the cheapest one I found. Zotac, christmas promotion from Techview. Not the amp version, or Asus etc. Will survey as much as I can too.are you mean the 970 is RM600 expensive than 960? I think if you can afford 970, I don't see the reason why you go for 960. Take some time for survey the benchmark between both and you will get the answer. |

Guys, the B150 states that it supports 2133Mhz DDR4. Meaning it won't support rams like the HyperX Fury 2666Mhz?

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 16 2015, 03:52 PM) You can look for Kingston HyperX Fury series RAM, just around RM 30 - RM 50 more expensive than value RAM, much cheaper than getting a Z series mobo. Yea, currenty looking at :-Intel i5-6500 - Rm876 Intel i5-6600 - Rm987 Asus B150 Pro Gaming Aura - Rm559 MSI B150 Bazooka D4 - Rm399 Kingston Hyper-X Fury 8gb 2400Mhz - Rm239 FSP Hexa+ 550w - Rm189 Zotac GTX960 - Rm799 Zotax GTX970 - Rm1399 Zotax GTX970 Extreme Core - Rm1650 WD Blue 1TB HDD - Rm215 Keyboard & Mouse - Rm200 Re-use - Casing, SSD, Xonar Soundcard, Monitor, DVD-Rom. QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 18 2015, 07:30 AM) Due to out in Q1/Q2 2016. Life cycle is different for each series because there is no fixed timeline on how Nvidia rolls out new series. I see, quite close already.. Heard the new architecture is very powerful.. But I guess I'll just go with the current one first.. That's why I'm thinking of getting the i7 instead of the i5, for future proofing. |
