QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 21 2015, 08:40 AM) The AMP! Extreme takes 3 slots and make sure your case has enough clearance to fit it. So it's basically up to personal design preference? The Amp Extreme looks way better for me but it's quite bulky. The light ID is kinda cool. And it also looked as it has a lot more features.Mainly cooling and design difference, the small difference of core and memory clock maybe will only bring 1 to 3 FPS difference but you can overclock the slower card to match the fastest card as always if you wish. |

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 21 2015, 09:23 AM) Yup, it applies to other brands too, all are using same GTX970 Maxwell chip, so performance will be within the similar range, it is just the matter of personal brand preferences/price/design/features etc. I see. And it's a bit of cheaper I think compared to the Extreme Core? I have still yet to decide on which to go. I don't mind the space it takes actually. The design of the Amp Extreme looks high-end compared to the basic design of the Extreme Core. But I do have a Xonar sound card to fit.The Extreme card is very huge compared to other cards, it would take 3 slots so the max SLI you can achieve with it is 2-way SLI only. |

I've made a few just to compare. Might fit in to one's budget. Although you'd need to add Rm200 for the HDD and also a bit more for the casing.
Intel i5-6400 - Rm809 MSI B150 Bazooka - Rm399 Zotac GTX960 - Rm799 HyperX Fury DDR4 8gb 2400mhz - Rm239 FSP Hexa+ 550w - Rm189 Rm2435 Inter i5-6500 - Rm876 MSI B150 Bazooka - Rm399 Zotac GTX970 - Rm1399 HyperX Fury DDR4 8gb 2400mhz - Rm239 FSP Hexa+ 550w - Rm189 Rm3102 Intel i5-6500 - Rm876 Asus B150 Pro Gaming Aura - Rm559 Zotac GTX970 Extreme Core - Rm1650 HyperX Fury DDR4 8gb 2666mhz - Rm270 FSP Raider 650w - Rm288 Rm3643 (you could save around rm132 from psu & ram) Intel i7-6700 - Rm1389 Asus Z170 Pro Gaming - Rm759 Zotac GTX970 Extreme Core - Rm1650 HyperX Fury DDR4 8gb 2666mhz - Rm270 FSP Raider 650w - Rm288 Rm4386 |

QUOTE(st4Lk3rz @ Dec 22 2015, 07:46 PM) Actually no reason to really go for RAM that has more than 2133mhz on B150 and H170 mobo's due to limitation. Mostly for aesthetic but the value ram on Techview page is nearly the same price. Is it Rm200 instead? Can save an additional RM 40 there. Unless for aesthetic QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 22 2015, 07:46 PM) Good point there, I actually went for the Z mobo to support the full speed of the RAM.This post has been edited by FaezFarhan: Dec 22 2015, 07:57 PM |

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 23 2015, 03:53 PM) I'll pick first one since it is unlocked I see. I think the difference between the CPU is more significant right? 3.4Ghz compared to 4.0Ghz. I like the design of the Amp! Extreme core but not sure whether the extra Rm250 is worth it or not. Both GPU are different model but still having same GTX970 chip so performance difference will be small between them. |

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 23 2015, 11:13 PM) Speed doesn't matter now since you can overclock the BLCK to achieve 4.0GHz, you just need a Z170 which can overclock locked Skylake CPU. I know right! Aesthetic is very important to me. I'm gonna customize my NZXT casing too. Aesthetic is priceless Btw the i7-6700 & i7-6700k, is it the same cpu, only one is unlocked and one is not? Or it's different? Edit : found an interesting article comparing the Zotac GTX970 Amp! Extreme & the Amp! Extreme Core http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/zotac...ore_review.html This post has been edited by FaezFarhan: Dec 24 2015, 03:46 AM |

Is it true that I have to buy a third party cooler if I buy the i7-6700k? And will the FSP Hexa+ 550w be sufficient for the i7-6700k + a GTX970?

QUOTE(Minecrafter @ Dec 26 2015, 04:19 PM) AFAIK, yup, you need to. I think my budget will be precisely Rm4k. Still wondering on which setup I should go for. Quite a lot of choices in my mind. Minus Rm1650 for the graphic card, I would have Rm2350 left for the processor, motherboard, power supply, and ram. HmmIt's enough, but if you're gonna OC the CPU, i'd suggest getting a better PSU like the Seasonic M12II Evo 620W RM409; |

Guys, I wonder how many fps difference if you compare the i5-6500/6600 to the i7-6700K when using the same card? GTX970 Amp! in this case.

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Dec 28 2015, 02:22 PM) It depends on the game you play, if the game is optimized to use the extra threads or hyperthreading technology of i7, you will see quite a significant improvement, if no then it could be just a few or close to zero FPS improvement. Which game optimizes hyperthreading? |
