Was with Scb all this while as it’s all under one roof . One login and u have access to your global accounts as well as brokerage . But brokerage is 0.2% . Even though I buy and hold but at current climate whatever we could save we try to do it . Anyway not so difficult to move the funds. Whatever stocks in Scb just leave it there .

Yes, many more than that. IBKR is mainly for large cap and HNWI investors, warp account or corporate/institutional clients whereas their whitelabels like TSG (Tradestation Global) are for small investors who don't want to pay the monthly below balance fee, but they come with slightly high commissions per trade of 3.75 SGD per SGD trade for SGX (1.5 USD per USD trade for US market) You can check the rest here.

https://www.tradestation-international.com/...ng-commissions/

No worries about using IBKR. You can fund SGD via DBS by FAST, free of charge. As for withdrawals, IBKR only supports wire transfer, need to check whether DBS has charges for remittance out of IBKR into it. I can't look for a link on charges on DBS official page.

My understanding is there are charges for Maybank SG (10 SGD per transaction) but none for CIMB SG.

If you have SG address and open IBKR account with it, like one of my friend (lurker of this forum), then your default IBKR bank account number you use to transfer your money to will be a DBS bank account of IBKR. If this is the case life is very easy for you since you are also DBS bank user.

For other users like me from Malaysia registered with a MY address, we will use IBKR's Citibank account instead (still a SGD account, Citibank N.A. Singapore's account).

You are right that brokerage under one roof is indeed good, like what Hansel said. Makes management easy.

Tq bros,...

I did try out SCB many years ago,... but I did not build-up my hldgs there because abt a year after after I signed-up, SCB gave investors a fright by saying they are closing down one branch of their investing platform. The mu;ti-currency capability is good,... albeit there are minimum amts that need to be placed into their respective currency savings accounts. It's not a lot,... but it may affect a new investor,... you might as well use that USD1K to invest rather than to use this to pad your acct for if not, you will be charged USD2 per month.

I then decided to focus most of my funds outside my private banking acct into DBS.

I see the good values in IBKR and TSG today,... but I too see there are some prbs like subscribing to Rights Issues, etc,... hence, I'd think carefully before opening accts there.

I would have missed the many EFRs that were announced had I not have the DBS acct..

Frankly,... I did miss subscribing to some EFRs too this year because I had problems flying-in to SG more than twice. I have many REIT units held inside my CDP Acct..

During a pandemic, it is good to have custodian accts...

The digital bank licenses are also awarded today.

https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/banking-fi...ng-coveted-full

iFAST surprisingly lose in the final round. Guess its price set for correction soon. Majority of the awardees are SG homegrown companies, Singtel, Grab, Sea. iFAST loses out due to size and scale I guess.

Tq bro,... I saw this too last night,... shared in my WApp group around 10.30 pm. Singtel, Ant and Grab may fly on Monday open in their respective jurisdictions and timezones.

CICT, used to be called CMT, has in fact started down this path of tweaking the mall to be an ,experiential mall', rather than being only a shopping mall.

This started with the Funan Lifestyle Mall.

IBKR users always need to have more money to standby for "manual EFR" in case the invested company launch it since they can't subscribe to it directly via IBKR and has to buy from open market on the first trading day.

Actually, you don't have to buy if your average holding price is above the Rights price being offered; and if the acquisition is dpu-accretive. You only need to buy if you decide that you have no other more-worthy instruments to invest into.

Hence, the safety-margin of your holding price is very important.

Hansel Since you study law, do you mind helping me to read through this document?

https://links.sgx.com/FileOpen/OCBC_Alterat...t&FileID=649258
I would like to know whether Malaysians without SG address are applicable for the DRIP for OCBC's dividend.

Last year, Malaysians are considered "Overseas member", and I can subscribe to the DRIP. This year the document says "alterations" and I don't quite know what are the alterations.

Thanks.

Hi bros and sis',.... I recalled reading somewhere among these threads that some investors here who are more risk-averse wanted 'safer' investments for their Singapore Dollar cash holdings. Following is a good option to consider.

The subscription amt is NOT 250k SGD minimum and you can invest on lower amts. These bonds will be listed on the exchange for easier buying and selling.

Off the top of my head,... In an earlier report sometime in end-April, DBS had a record-breaking qtrly earnings of $2b for 1QFY21. This morning,.. UOB had $1b earnings in its 1QFY21. All at high levels,...

Tomorrow, OCBC will be reporting bef mkt,.... thumbsup.gif

SG is coming back,... tho' it is now reverting to some Phase Two ctrls.

SPH will be spinning-off SPH Media, after a strategic review was completed by Credit Suisse. This shld have been done earlier becos if done earlier, the share price may not dip to this level. But nevertheless, I am happy to see SG GLCs taking steps to improve shareholder's value. We can continue to invest there for this lifetime with a certain level of safety,.. SECURED BY a continuously strengthening currency.

For safety, we go to SG !

Edited by adding : SG GLCs have been bad for investors for many years, no doubt abt this when we look at their share prices. However, I am relieved they are taking steps to re-invent themselves.

Yeah,... I know,... Singpost has not started yet, the results were really bad this morning,... it takes time, bro,.. BUT for Singpost, I have not read of them taking on 'other' revenue-generating activities outside of their mailing and delivery services. Just some ecommerce-related delivery services,...

So, it's going to be hard for Singpost to 'chg'.
