Hello everyone.
A little back history: my car had an accident early March this year (2015).
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=73301513

After fixing this and that, still there are some issues unsolved.
1) Wind noise highway or straight road cruising 80kmh and above.
2) door handle opens with a rough thud instead of a smooth pull. (Anyway SC Manager is willing to go extra mile to help solve this).

Since the car was not driven for almost 4months, my mileage is quite low. Before I took it back it was more or less 45,000 and I requested SC to perform a service. And they took that as 50K service.

1) Now my car is at 53K++, should I do 60K major service or request for a normal service?

2) At 53K and (2 years 9 months since inception), air cond compressor kaput. Diesel engine like rattling sound at slow speed. Very irritating. If you had the same issue and had it fix by SC, did you manage to claim warranty? Any charges on labor for warranty claim? Any tips or advice to look out for when getting this fix?

3) I was quoted for 60,000 service between RM2,000 to 2,999.00. Any one can share their bill? I would appreciate your input. Thanks.
Have good day ppl.

4) I was told all SC now uses Mobil One engine oil, any comment or feed back? Back in 2013 started with TOTAL then PEtronas Syntium, now Mobile One.

60k is the scheduled major service which would cost $3600 +/- total. As most ppl find this a hefty sum at one go, SCs split the items to be changed at 50k and 60k. Show the SC your last bill, they can gage the balance of the major service to be completed and do not double change any item.Having to spend this large sum on maintenance appears high. But trust me it's worth it,the engine sounds new after the major service! It's music to my ears to hear that healthy roar form my Lion even after 3 years!

You do not have much time for air-con warranty, it ends by the 3rd year. Get that claimed right away. 4th &5th year warranty do not cover air-con.

That diesel engine sound is the timing chain tensioner not able to hold the timing chain tight. The slake chain is hitting it's guide and making the noise. Tensioner is a 60k replacement  service item. Since your timing chain is already making noise, you better do the 60k service right away! Since it's service item and you are due for major service, you have to pay for this. Can't claim on warranty.

I am very glad SCs have changed to Mobil 1. Amsoil & Mobil 1 are my 1st choice engine oils. They provide the best engine protection in my books. I was waiting to end warranty in order to start using Mobil 1.

Yes is a major service and major sum.
Since my car was left idle for 4 months and current at 53K mileage, SC Ipoh adminstered the major service on certain components. The remaining will be done when my mileage is closer to 60K.
The bill came up to RM1,650.00 more or less.

Yes I believe, is a major driving experience after gearbox oil change.

Air cond compressor changed just today and manage to get priority. Put in at 10am got car back at 3.30pm. 5 thumbs up for Glenmarie. I spoke to another 408T lady owner, she is also claiming warranty for Air cond compressor. SC did acknowledge the original part was defective. Question is the aircond compressor lifespan is just shy of 60,000km? Not cheap close to RM5K (including parts & labor & inspection).

Timing chain tensioner will be change the next service. Estimated the 2nd half of the 60K major service will be RM1,900

Bro jfc. Sorry unrelated to your question post . I would want to find out about your brake pads.

1) do you have to change the disc if use trw?
2) can share the place to buy the parts?
3) how is it so far at current usage mileage?

Thanks man.

I replaced my aircond compressor in November 2015 at Glenmarie HQ. Last Friday, aircond stopped working. Today 27th june i send into Glenmarie HQ again, voila diagnosis say compressor faulty.

7 months lifespan compressor. My manufacturer warranty ended March 2016 now on extended warranty. I'm sure most of u know the process and duration of this claim.

With that in mind, got a car w/o AC, how? Uber time?

Anyway, this situations also may spur conspiracy regarding the part i chg in November
or
maybe a more commercially viable option to declare it dead with forever to record parameter readings
or
SC target quota or kpi to achieve number of claims before raya?

LoL....maybe too much free coffee at SC....mind hyper now. And I'm still waiting for my car to record the readings to submit for insurance claim. "Feeling sad...."

Just collected my car from Glenmarie for replacement of aircon compressor, aircon blower and done 60k service.. Now everything is normal and the car is roaring like it should
[attachmentid=6018189]
[attachmentid=6018192]
[attachmentid=6018194]
Later gonna replace all 4 MC5 to Hankook S1 Noble 2..

Update on the tires: 1st impression very good, very comfortable, way better than MC5 and it is quiet..  Will update once running more mileage on it but I would recommend it over MC5 biggrin.gif

I'm curious, wouldn't the cooling gas won't deplete unless there is a leak somewhere?
If my memory serves me correctly, air-cond like refrigerator r closed circuit loop systems.

Need to top up cooling gas when it started to be less cold. 😁😁

Bro, from the beginning of 4th year I stop using SC. I have no faith on extended warranty. Plenty of Pug workshops now in Kling Valley. I always wanted to use Mobil 1, now only SC use this.

SKY! Parts you buy from where? Asli Auto? or from AliExpress (DongFeng) China?

@joeaggas,

Rejected on the spot by SC or after they submitted the EWP claim? Sigh, this worries me.

By Insurer not manufacturer. 5 Years warranty compose of 3 years manufacturer + 2 years by 3rd party.
They are strict.

They are OEM, but find no difference in performance.
*
I also buy OEM. Brake pads, batteries, tyres, wipers all can OEM. However, some proprietory parts like sensors....will need ori.

SKyJack, the aircond compressor changed in Nov 2015, tak kan less than 1 year died. Sometimes, SC officers will say certain things and engineer says other. If compressor issue, the aircond master (sifu) at PJ State can kao dim. If sensor issue then replace lor. This is gonna cost me my saving for the month. sad.gif

So case based on my experience is no longer applicable. need to predetermine my mileage then. nearest SC is 90km away from my place. sighh.. thanks for the heads up
*
Yes....must be +/-500KM from your last service mileage interval or within 6 months. For KIA is +/-1000KM.
However, my argument is why that has to do with eletrical parts failure? It is not that I skip servicing at all, right?
Looks like a policy terms and condition that doesn't make any sense. Correct me if wrong. Opinion from other PUG owners out there is welcome.

The other thing, do we have a list of spare parts list for like sensors, wiring, available for reference so that we can source for OEM parts when need to?
Any one came across such book or pdf?

SKyJack,
Where are these independent workshops? Any list for them? Do they mind if bring own parts and they charge labor for service?

Front headlamp plastic cover fogging up. Replacement part for the plastics where to source? The fogging more like the material itself is cracking

Hi all,

What is your experience with other tyre brands besides conti?
Do you have mix brands or all four same brands?

Thanks
