#5 Kurt Happy Zouma

I'm on the same boat as Ichighost. I feel that it's too soon to call for Mou's head. He is the 1 that signed Matic, Zouma. He is the 1 that brought us back to winning the PL title and Carling Cup last season. I believe Mou still have it.

It's just a rough patch we are having. Every team has their good and rough patch. When things do not go ur way, a lot of things will be blown into bigger news or scandals. I do think there is some backroom stuff going on, but not as serious as we've speculated. Surely some words were exchanged behind closed doors. This is normal, most of the club have diz. But the reporters are now putting salt on our wound. When u are doing badly, more negative news will be produced. So yea.... results on the pitch is not a result of backroom stuff. More like due to our results on the pitch, ppl tend to magnify our backroom stuff.

Can see that there is 2 camps here. #MouIn and #MouOut.

I say we stuck by our manager, if u can't support when the team it is at it's low, u don't deserve to support when the team is at it's high. I say we stick by Mou and the club.

But then 1 important thing, Mou MUST drop his golden boy policy. This i really cannot tahan. sweat.gif

that's me lol laugh.gif

i see the problem more on players..n atm mou not solving it by giving them a harsh lesson
some players really needed to warm the bench
introduce youngster, let the seniors feel threatened a bit
i see hazard, cesc n iva waaaaay too much comfortable this season
u can even see their attitude inside the field, no urgency at all

Yea. Agreed on this. Especially Iva and Fab, both did not have their best game. Seems like both still in holiday mode. sweat.gif

Nothing's going to change if the same out of form players are in the lineup yawn.gif, i think the only way to make it positive, is to keep your expectations the lowest. Too many problems (striker, mid, right-back) to be address at once, Jm need to change one by one (Iva first), We can always start by not conceding first, JM should use his bus for 0-0. hmm.gif

I say even if they pay crazy sponsorship deal for it, I say we keep some part of the name. Something like The Yokohama Stamford Bridge Stadium. laugh.gif

A mouthful thou. laugh.gif

The Yoko Bridge Stadium, The Stamford Hama Stadium. LOL. Just to throw in some hilarious name.

Jose Mourinho will make changes to the side for the opening of the Champions League campaign and has put those team choices into context.

QUOTE
‘We have started so bad but it is not because of that that somebody can steal what we are. Nobody can steal our trophies or our history. Some teams have to go back years for good results. We have to go back months.

‘Now we play a new competition. There are zero points for everyone and I know that two years ago we lost the first match at home and last season we drew and we had to win games in Germany and Lisbon, so if we can win tomorrow we put ourselves in a better position. After this we go to Porto and Kiev, two difficult matches away so it is important we win tomorrow and that is what we are going to try to do.’

'It is the same the fans sing every game,’ said Mourinho. ‘We know what we are. We are champions of England.

‘We have started so bad but it is not because of that that somebody can steal what we are. Nobody can steal our trophies or our history. Some teams have to go back years for good results. We have to go back months.

‘Now we play a new competition. Oscar has recovered from injury and although not in top condition, is in the squad for tomorrow’s game, as is new left-back Baba Rahman. Falcao misses out due to a minor tendon problem but is expected back for the weekend.

Haha was about to rage as well, when I feverishly scrolled through all the sports channels, then lo and behold,it's on astro supersport plus HD (836). If you switch to the channel right now,it's like the only program listed, nothing else is being broadcast laugh.gif

Unfortunately, those without astro beyond are screwed I think..can't seem to find the broadcast on any of the SD channels sweat.gif

basically imagine Hazard's normal penalty, but except its Oscar.

good half.
RLC doing a very good Matic. no nonsense.
Baba got some pace and free up Azpi to RB so no more nonsense forward runs and getting exposed.
Willian doing well until he got injured
really miss Oscar in attacking

Cesc and Hazard needs step up
defense also need to tighten up. lucky we against a weaker side, if not, sure get rekt already

so far everyone played well except for hazard n fab

half time thought:

i think we improve in this game...
but is it because mta not good enough to test us?

happy to see remy run behind defenders
happy to see right side no bocor
but again, is it because mta?

still can see our def is sux...
2 mta players leaked during their freekick, lucky they do a beckham too

still can see we pass here pass there,
but oscar memang give some differences

hope they play more direct in the 2nd half

they closed down quickly, just the attack a bit failed

this is a good start. better back four, RLC protect the defenders well, cesc not too bad but his major contribution was when he played in the AM role, expect more from Costa..but he did okay today..Willian and Oscar was good..Hazard still struggling..

Cesc need to produc that kind of passes more. Remy was a second striker really help also I think. Especially in distracting defenders.

Yay! Finally a win to end the horrible series of unfortunate events....

Finally a clean sheet. The first for us.

Now, for the in depth review... ha ha ha...

Baba overlapping run allows more space for Hazard to exploit... But Baba's crossing is still not there yet...

Hazard, a different player... it's like he is burden by Mou's comment that he is better than Ronaldo... confident level is same as Torres... hopefully he can put that behind... but he is more actively involve as compared to our first 5 games.

Hopefully Willain's injury is not that serious. Pedro is also injured.... it's a testing times for the right wing... hopefully Kennedy can fill in for those injured lads.

Oscar is back... I am happy to see Oscar... the attack is more direct with another man running into the box.

RLC is awesome... but some heavy touches kinda worrying... lucky the opposition is Maccabi TA... if any BPL team, it would be punishing... But his attacking play is awesome... brings another dimension to our attack...

Cesc is awesome... stringing some effective passes. Like the commentator said... if our DM played well, Cesc also played well... Matic is the key for our defensive prowess last season, that gives Cesc the room for creativity and not too defensive minded... this morning game is a very good example to that... when the pivot defends well, it gives Cesc more time to pull his quality passes....

Costa is hungry as ever... good to see... but he needs to learn how to keep the ball... keep losing the ball won't help our attack...

Remy is reliable as ever... hopefully he gets more game time to fill in for Pedro/ Willian.

Our back four is shaky when dealing with crosses into the box... but Cahill is awesome... Zouma need to learn to position better... Dave is killing it on right side... truly the heir to Iva...

hopefully this positive result will propel the whole team and lift the camp's spirit up and let's take 3 points at the Emirates.

Good result!see what happen when mou bench iva.i dont hate him but for now he need to be bench.our cb still making some mistake but it take time for the middle duo to have good chemistry. RLC doing great!i hope he can dethrone matic or fab so that both of them boost their spirit to be on form again.

Fab 1st half not that good but got involvement on 2nd half.meanwhile hazard, facepalm it goes wide.i hope this will be a good story for hazard to regain his form and become better than ever.

Anyway good to see we win and clean sheet.its feels like ages since we had a clean sheet laugh.gif and good to see costa put a nice goal but there is lack of challenge from mta defender so i guess we cant celebrate yet with this current team.

hope not. our defense last night was better with plenty of pace. but still shaky, MTA still opened us up good a couple of times. good thing they are a weaker side, against a side like Arsenal, they wont make that sorta mistakes. if Iva starts (which most probably going to happen), I think we will get our ass kicked

If Iva did start, I hope he learnt a thing or two from today's game... Dave's pressing is too awesome... it lift up the whole team... even Hazard begins to press man to man after seeing Dave pressure the opposition high onto their own half...

If Iva play, I hope he hold his line better... not to venture up too high... cause his crossing is too predictable... 9 out of 10 times will be block... no point venturing forward to cross the ball when we are playing only 1 target man...

So happy we played so well and looks like we found another dynamic from this lineup. Although it's against a small team but I hope it's enough to raise their confidence against Arsenal. Too bad Pedro and wilian will be out against Arsenal. Maybe Remy or Rami will be the RW against Arsenal. And the pivot hopefully will be RLC pairing with Matic. F4 as impact sub. Back 4 as predictable would be Azpi Terry Cahill Iva.

Chelsea Transfer News: Jose Gaya Fee Revealed in Latest Blues Rumours

QUOTE
Chelsea are reportedly ready to add another left-back to their squad in the January transfer window, with Valencia’s Jose Luis Gaya on their radar.

That’s according to Sport (h/t talkSPORT) who claims that the Blues will have to pay £35 million if they’re to prise the youngster away from the Mestalla when the transfer window reopens.

Going forward, the 20-year-old Spaniard would give Chelsea a completely different edge. Gaya is very quick across the ground and his unrelenting energy allows him to get into dangerous positions often for Valencia. Gaya's final ball is also improving when he does get time on the ball in the attacking third.

But most encouragingly for the Blues is that Gaya can defend too. Not too dissimilar to another ex-Valencia man in Barcelona’s Jordi Alba, his searing pace makes it easy for the youngster to cover space, he’s committed in the challenge and he has already coped well against some of the finest attacking players in world football.

Chelsea news: Eva Carneiro told to return to club's training ground

Dr Eva Carneiro, who was banned from the Chelsea bench after being criticized by manager Jose Mourinho, has been told to report for work at the club’s training ground on Friday morning.
Carneiro has not been seen at Chelsea since the incident on August 8, possibly through the legal advice she has taken from law firm Mishcon de Reya, but has been informed that she needs to return to duty now.

simple. If Iva play, our winning chance will drop to like 33%. If Baba and Azpi play, our winning chance 50/50.

Knowing Mou, he won't play Baba and RLC in the big match, he always go for his trusty old guard. Safety first policy. And also Ram is always chosen in the big matches if u notice. So, my line up prediction is

Bego; Azpi, JT, Cahill, Iva; Matic, Fab; Hazard, Oscar, Ram; Costa

But hopefully we'll see this,

Bego; Baba, JT, Cahill, Azpi; Matic, RLC; Hazard, Fab, Oscar; Costa

Knowing Mou, he won't play Baba and RLC in the big match, he always go for his trusty old guard. Safety first policy. And also Ram is always chosen in the big matches if u notice. So, my line up prediction is

Bego; Azpi, JT, Cahill, Iva; Matic, Fab; Hazard, Oscar, Ram; Costa
*
this. mou will played safe at least if lose can blame iva or jt or fab, if he used baba or rlc and lose he will be labeled using wrong tect

Pedro is fit! gud news. But JT dropped? Wah.... Mou really got balls.

I think Cahill deserves his place, but Zouma, can he rise in the big occassion? Maybe to deal with Walcott? hmm.gif

costa always argue with opponent center back, but today he seems to be more angry than usual

he is those kind of player that opponent fans will hate very much but the supporting fans will like and will continue supporting

as for the incident just now, agreed on what the commentator said
"costa is the one who caused it but gabriel took the bait and costa make a meal out of it"

both too hot headed. Costa usual strategy winding up defenders, Koscielny didnt fall for it, end up Gabriel too hot headed took the bait.

Definitely our future CB. With who? Varane? Stones? brows.gif

But then got once in the game, Zouma scared me. misjudged the ball and almost created a chance for Arsenal. Lucky Sanchez miss it.

I think even before the red card to gabriel, the team performance was miles better. Definitely the best 45minutes in this season.

Massive improvement from iva (was it because sanchez also off form?). Good performance from fabregas. Still a bit rusty in attack but he did well in defense. Matic look solid and busy again.

The only downside is on costa. This guy seriously walking on thin thread. No need to play like that ler..

Hope we can string more wins after this.

A win at last. Should hv try go for more goals.

Zouma motm for me. Good defensive display + that goal to compliment his performance.

Positive:
Cesc assist
Ajat goal?
Begovic first league clean sheet
Good combo from Cahill - zouma
Iva step up his game a bit. No more blind crosses.

Negative
Costa still need to work on his dribbling.
Pedro a bit off IMO.
Oscar also a bit off.

Definitely our future CB. With who? Varane? Stones? brows.gif

But then got once in the game, Zouma scared me. misjudged the ball and almost created a chance for Arsenal. Lucky Sanchez miss it.
*
in ideal world, Varane. the French Connection CB brows.gif brows.gif but Stones also okay lah, look good against us that day and HG advantage.

mistakes happen, even JT still can make mistake till today. hope Zouma is auto starter now. JT vs Cahill for 1st 11 spot. Cahill also looking good since UCL game. maybe its the mask hmm.gif

slowly phase out JT. This game proves that Cahill + Zouma is not a bad partnership. But then JT with his experience is still a player challenging for a starting 11 place.

For me, i still have doubt for Iva. Only first half tested by Sanchez. Luckily Sanchez lack of form.

After the send off, no pressure on our right hand side riao, Iva cukurlah. laugh.gif

But then credit to the team la, good team effort. notworthy.gif

*
Is more to we playing more compact with OSCAR helping to form a 3 man def infront back 4 that why IVA rarely get threaten. FAB pulling a lot of string because ARS does not put a runner on him like most team will do to shut him down. But is OSCAR really show his importance again, the willing runner to close down, help out defense and most important always makes himself available to receive pass linking the play.

And agree, please drop COSTA, come on that is not playing football, totally no sportsmanship at all. He should let his football do the talking instead of trying to pick fight on every occasion. Kudos to KOSCIELNY for keeping his calm.

Costa is just that type of player.

When he is playing for u:
Good player, knows how to wind opponent up, trap opponents with his mind games, wins u freekicks, wins u penalty.

When he is playing against u:
Dirty player, foul mouthed player, talks too much, dive for freekicks and penalties.

Agree on oscar. I anticipated his involvement in this season more than ever because for the first time in so many years, he got himself a proper summer break. But he got injured before this and i hope he will become better with time.

last time we always talk about the 2 pivot player matic-fabregas. last season they worked wonders but this season, they were exposed horribly due to fabregas ill discipline in defense. the inclusion of oscar in the front of these 2 provide more protection as oscar is a willing tracker and defensively better than fabregas. plus, they can change their position on their own will. i really hope this little triangle of matic-fabregas-oscar can blossom in this season!

Yea. We miss Oscar's tackling and energy high up in the pitch. Notice when Oscar plays in front of Fab and Matic, Oscar protects both of them by trying to win the ball high up the pitch. Matic and Fab have 1 more layer of defense in front of them when Oscar is playing.

Well who wants to admit defeat, rite?

The win is definitely a morale booster, in the end oscars involvement does make a difference.

Somehow i felt that costa should take a chill pill and relax. This time he might got away with it.

People always complain and curse when the player is in peak.. and when he retires, everyone will admit he is a good footballer. Just look at Cantona, Roy Keane etc. Even Drogba, Manu and Liv fans keep calling him diver actor etc during his time but now all accept him as a legend rolleyes.gif

Obviously Mou is protecting his player when he say Costa is his MOTM.

He knows critics will come, media will bash Costa, opponents will have comments on him. Thats why Mou divert the attention. And backs Costa. Lol

For what he does, Costa does it very, very well. And tonight it just worked perfectly. Rustled Gabriel's jimmies, got him sent off. So why not give him credit for it. It's not even a moral question, though it's very easy to say "Costa is a jerk". The EPL has seen far worse players.

Remember, it could have gone differently. He could have got sent off. But then he hasn't been sent off for how many years, so yeah. Just appreciate his "contribution" and dark arts. He's like Mourinho personified on the pitch.

Costa needs to start to score goals. And keep winding up opposition defend. That is his job. IIRC he never get sent off since 2012. He knows his game. Not that I support his dark arts, but a man gotta do what a man gotta do which is helping the team to win the game.

True but if u watch closely, his job not only to score goal but to toy with opponents emotional and create space. Got 1 time pedro shot iinm he create a space for him.to me last night he did ok and he really need to be less complaining, more action.this is not la liga where the ref easily took the bait if anything happen. But yeah, i thing he still below par.

It's his style of play since Altetico days. Most likely how he grew up playing in South America.

But have to say that he does seem off form. Heavy touches sometimes and a bit hard time trying to control the ball. Still putting pressure on defenders to open up space for other attacking players

Costa must be banned for at least 3 month, play rough football like Keane, Viera, Gatusso is one thing but his act totally unacceptable

I afraid many will follow his act, it will destroy football generally in future

We got the point no need to keep barking about what's obvious.

I also personally despise his antics. But u should not get carried away and take credits from what he had contribute to other players. His positioning was good. Work rate was brilliant.

Back four was solid rock yesterday that begovic literally doing nothing in the 1st half. That was before the sent off

Hazard also did show glimpse of his real capability. The only retard yesterday was Ramires lucky he was subbed in late in the game

Mou defending Costa? I noe what everyone is saying Costa is a c*nt, a cheater etc. But then how do u want him to change? That is his personality, that is his playing style.

He will continue to play as he is, he will continue to play dirty and mind games with opponent's CB. He nids to jaga2. Mou nids to have a word with him. If u wan dirty games n mind games with opponent, can, but dun be physical.

If he continues to play like this, his career in Chelsea won't be long. Coz he will be under heavy scrutiny by the FA and we all noe how much FA loves us.

If I am Mou, I would tell Costa, for each dirty antics on the field, u have to score 2 goals, if not, then I'll sub u out. That might make Costa think twice before going all out.

Did u guys saw Costa reaction when he's being subbed. This guy really the dont go by the book type.

When we played ATM during ucl couple seasons back, we know how it felt already as the receiving end. We dont get anyone sent off.

There's a way dealing with this kinda of players. Hats off to Koscielny for not falling into the his game. Shame on Gabriel for being unable to control his emotion

i am very sorry guys, Gabriel was 100% innocent.
it is just his way of walking backwards, when he bumped onto something, his auto reaction is to kick that something which is blocking his backward walk

football truly divides opinion all over the world isnt it ?

that's how Costa play.... and that is why he is effective... yes, the ref will give less and less decision for him.... but hey, whatever works for him works for us.... even though he is not firing, he is helping the team... Gabriel should know better than to act so childish by stepping on ppl purposely...

remember Beckham in world cup 98? that's exactly the same... straight red.... The whole of England curse Beckham back then.... maybe that's what Arsenal fans should be doing. football is physical game... but it is the ref's job to ruin the game or make it a fair game...

Finally a win to kickstart our season, and to sum up the main difference between this EPL match and all the others which we’ve faltered so badly in, is WORKRATE. What a refreshing sight watching matic and fab (especially) chasing down the opposition with vigour, and same goes to the rest of the team who fought well, and showed how badly they wanted the 3 points.

We restricted them to only 2 clear-cut opportunities, (one via a misjudgement from cahill and zouma which sanchez blazed over, the other was late in the game, saved by begovic). When you take into account our leaky defence this season and the fact that we were playing arsenal, a cleansheet was honestly the last thing I expected from the game. It’s a bit of a miracle really.

Apart from that glaring mistake which almost lead to an equaliser from sanchez, I think kurt had a fantastic game. My favourite was of course his towering headed goal, but that perfectly timed last ditch tackle on walcott after he actually stumbled and lost balance was a joy to watch, and typifies that battling spirit which all CBs must have in order to become top class. Back to back assists from cesc means he’s quietly regaining form as well, so that’s also good to see.

Hazard looked in the mood, and must have been mightily relieved to get on the scoresheet after a horrendous penalty miss in midweek. Although heavily deflected, I think his initial shot was at least on target and I hope it restores some of his confidence in front of goal. He just needs to be a bit more selfish when in good positions, and it’ll do the team a whole world of good once he bangs a few more in, deflected or otherwise.

Now I’m tempted to ignore iva’s contribution throughout the game after his nightmare start to the season, but gotta say he looked fairly solid. Was it down to the fact that he had less players to worry about on the pitch? quite possible, but credit to him for not giving us any heartache or heart attacks for that matter. Having said that, I still want to see baba on the left and azpi back on the right vs walsall.

Now we arrive at the other main ‘flashpoint’ of the match, involving big, bad, diego costa. The thing about most of the pundits these days is, they suffer from ‘selective vision’ and short memories when it comes to us. Let’s turn back the clock a bit. Not much, just a bit.

Remember the city game in which they walloped us 3 nil? Anyone recall a certain fernandinho swinging an elbow in a mid-air duel which left costa lying on the floor, bleeding? No card, no foul, nothing? Yeah yeah sure,99% of those pundits may think he ‘deserves’ to be done in, but whatever happened to calling it like it is and being impartial? What about our encounter with everton, when Naismith had a kick at ivanovic near the touchline? All they drooled about was his oh so perfect hattrick, but NONE of them cared to mention he shouldn’t have even finished the match.

Where’s the retrospective action? Where are all the cries for him to be banned, hung out to dry and bludgeoned with a baseball bat? Where? What about that obscene stamp on matic which could’ve resulted in a career ending injury last season? Where is the fairness? Biased old men with double standards, the lot of em.’ No wonder jose chose to annoy them by claiming diego costa as his MOTM. I’m pretty sure he fully expected diego to be punished, so why pander to the biased media and FA who would love nothing more than to see us crash and burn this year? Jose stands by his men, and after the rubbish we’ve been put through already since his return, I would expect nothing less.

As for those arsenal fans with thick rose tinted glasses on, I urge you to watch the replays again. Gabriel marched towards costa and grabbed his neck FIRST, before costa responded by aggressively pushing his hand away, before their war of words ensued. Gabriel shouldn’t have been off by that petulant kick which followed. He should’ve seen red immediately after he raised his hands towards diego. Heck some refs would’ve sent him for an early bath after that rugby tackle on hazard in the box, so take your pick.

P.s: the management should seriously look into Chelsea’s P.R team who all seem to be sleeping on the job or are just plain ignorant. I’m surprised jose hasn’t raised that Naismith vs iva incident yet. Pretty sure nobody has brought the incident towards his attention, as he’ll definitely use that as ammunition. Not like the FA are going to do anything, but at least it highlights their hypocrisy and double standards.

So costa’s now unavailable, no surprises there, it was always going to come to that. Should he have seen red for those handbags with koscielny? Debatable. Credit to the latter for not rolling around on the ground though. But if he deserved to go off, so did Naismith and fernandinho. The FA’s SOP of only analysing every little incident highlighted by their media darlings and their ‘favourite’ clubs is what gets on my nerves.

Onwards and upwards, looking forward to seeing remy and falcao duking it out to stake a claim in the first 11. Extra rest for costa’s dodgy hamstrings can never be a bad thing.

nice words kerpy...

when we said, we sort of getting ill treated for anything got to do on the pitch, well the others would say we are just exaggerating / certain players in our camp deservedly punished, those people seem to have short term memory or should I say very selective memory, when those who have done similar things go unpunished be it current or retrospectively...

anyway, lobuji for walsall anyone?

Not yet got outcome. But knowingly FA, sure fast tracked and banned at least 3 games. Will be surprised if he wasn't banned at all.

Gabriel: Arsenal defender wins appeal against red card

Arsenal's appeal against defender Gabriel's red card during Saturday's defeat by Chelsea has been successful.

Gabriel, 24, was sent off for violent conduct by referee Mike Dean after a clash with Diego Costa during the Blues' 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

The successful appeal means he will now not serve a three-match suspension.

The Brazilian is subject to a separate Football Association charge of improper conduct to which he has until 18:00 BST on Thursday to respond.
