What do people surrounding your area do? What type of planting they do?
Are planning to get workers to do plantation? (if you do plantation)

I'm planning to continue with palm oil, but now somebody from teluk intan is managing it and I got lil money for that but what to do, i'm living far away and i got some other things to do...surrounding people are doing plantations and fisheries (fresh water).

If you could do similar activities like people surrounding doing, then i get you wont have the problem of finding workers.
Even in any business i guess, you need a trustworty type of person running your business. (since you are at penang)

Bro, its the right time now if u go to MAHA 2006 @ Mardi (next to UPM Malaysia). Till this weekend if not mistaken.
Besides that, go for maintenance free concept of farming i.e. (talking about 1-2 acres) covered up the whole area like Bird park did, plant fruits trees and release meat rabbits, turkey, ayam kampung etc of high demand. It will works like a chain, if u get what I mean. For the rest of the land, can plant a tree that have high commercial export value, unlike Jati, this tree mature in short period of time; can't remember the tree name, need to ask my dad. There was an article in newspaper about the commercialize effort of the wood sometime back this year.
About funding, approach Bank Pertanian. They have mandated role (as well as commercial) to give out loans. Take note that repayment does not necessarily be right after disbursement, it can be delayed for a year or 2 based what your project is.

Since you mentioned that there are people doing plantations nearby, you can try to source manpower from there. Like ask any of the plantation keepers who willing to take care of your baby oil palms, they will be willing to do so for some extra bucks, sort of like part time for them. The bumis should be pretty trustworthy, unlike city people. tongue.gif

And since you got somebody there to take care things for you, you can always plant a few more crops while waiting your baby palms to grow up. This you can make more profit.

But seriously, 12 acres land for palm oil plantation is a bit too small. Maybe you can consider dscythe suggestion. Or I hv seen some oil palm estates also rearing cow or goats in there, as long as you fence the whole place up and have a barn for those goat to rest during rain or night.

But make sure the boss should at least be there once every month. Only youself can make sure one business is running smoothly.

Not everyone can simply leave the city and stay in kampung just like that. Theres simply too much to see in city for you to let go.

Perhaps you can share more insights about your cow farm? Hey, really so profitable?

What bout opening a grand cemetry as of the nirvana park.Or maybe you could set up fishing ponds for commercialize fishing industry.Or maybe you should build a chicken herding farm and be a supplier of KFC.From what i know they pay you good as of minimum return RM10,000 per month. The fishing pond pays off handsomely too as you can export em to other asian countries where the demands are high.

threat starter, dont spoil your own threat, one can always go kopitiam/rwi to discuss mat rempit and their skills.

Figured out what to do with your land yet? Suggestion has been made to you, what is your view to each suggestion? Theres also so many options, just waiting for yourself to discover only.

Or you can consider selling off this land if the price is good. And buy another piece of small land but nearby. Then you can take care of it yourself.

guys, u know why goverment want u to breed cows?
of coz there is the demand and good price

but on top of that the capital to start is damn high and not that easy.
things u got to consider
1. grassland (mantainence and selection, cows dont eat all grass u know)
2. vets (full time if u want breeding and with moe than 100 cows, and cows get sick easily if it is an imported breed)
3. shelter (for 100 cows, thats huge)
4. aux devices (errr, contraptions for breeding)
5. etc etc, forgot already la tongue.gif

anyway u get the idea, but if can pull it off and find the right people then grab the chance to do it. smile.gif
