QUOTE(luqmanz @ Jan 29 2007, 07:08 AM)
what is this weekend spreads in oanda ? you can trade on weekends ?
If i avoid trading during news hour will that be good ?
*
lol. what luqmanz said is true. IMO u can easily avoid the high spread time in Oanda. Sometimes the market can change 100 pips even on a non-news hour. You just need the patient for the opportunity to come.

Not to mention Oanda Spread are generally a bit higher during pre/post weekend (Monday Morning, Friday night) I generally do not trade in these 2 days. It is generally much harder to predict the market trend in these 2 days. Right now typing this reply Monday morning 10.15AM the spread @ Oanda is 2.0. tongue.gif

The lowest spread I saw Oanda offer is 1.2 Spread. Thats Last Thursday.

Their platform is develop in Java. Sometimes it take quite a lot of resources, but for a new PC it shouldnt be a problem. The only problem I face now is our line to their server is quite slow since the quake. The connectivity is improved a lot but it is still too slow for a active scalper like me. During a market with high volatility 1-2 seconds delay can mean a 1-3 pips difference.

for withdrawing money, i'll would a bit careful with it if the money size is more than RM10k, maybe need to tax? i dunno..

QUOTE(jenatic @ Feb 9 2007, 12:51 AM)
btw, would we be taxed if we make good returns from forex tradings?
*
U are not taxable if you bring foreign invested money back to Malaysia. It is actually helping Malaysia's Economy. On USA part, foreign investor are not taxable by USA Gov. Because USA's economy highly rely on foreign money. smile.gif

So with this kind of scenario we are not taxable at all. What we earn is wat we will get.

jong52yuara,

I just google around to find whether forex is illegal in Malaysia for "normal people"..
But I can't  sad.gif

Is there any source for us to review about this rule/law in Malaysia (as in Forex is illegal)? I'm really interested in playing forex, but I scared I'd have broken the law here (T_T) guide us, please.

I don't mind you send PM to me happy.gif

it is illegal to open a firm to trade. But it is not wrong to use a broker's service. Get it?

Forex is not easy. Many will lose their money, or their interest because it's something you really need to study and understand. All these strategies, and fast systems you find online. Forget those, trade yourself, find a system that works for you and you'll be fine. It'll probably take a year or two before you start making some serious cash. But that day will come if you are diligent enough.

Usually it is advisable for a newbie to start with a only 1 currency Pair.

Forget that! Im not about to give my personal documents to an org that isnt certified by the NFA.

Besides im not a serious trader yet. If i ever want to be a serious trader i would certainly go for oanda as its highly recomended by ppl that i trust.
*

Well I'm a live Oanda trader, manage to grab some small 20 pips profit on EUR/USD rally just now. So far their service is quite ok. Their spread has gone lower now it is 1.2 already. (the website say 1.5 is untrue). But Watch out of the spread widen just now 9.30PM GMT+8 the spread open suddenly to 10. blink.gif Lucky my stop loss is way far away. if not it hit I will suffer a 10-15 pips loss. Just watch out their spread. Usually happen @ news announcement time 8-12PM GMT+8.(Our time).

I heard about this widening of spread on Oanda quite often. Sometimes it goes to more than 15pips.

I never experienced widening of spreads for a long time already  icon_rolleyes.gif

It happen once a blue moon. But it is not as often as few months ago.

It affect all of them, if u enter during 10 pip spread, you will be pay extra 10 pips higher than market. if u close ur existing position @ 10 pip spread, you will lose more pips.

Yeah the EUR/USD crash this morning. It hit my take profit. I wasnt able to move my take profit further down fast enough! Damn!

Bah make it simple. buy at the very bottom and sell at the very high. tongue.gif (after fundamental analysis)

Guys I think we should have one IRC channel or channel medium to share and profit and do better among ourselves.

Or is there any oversea IRC channel that I can join off?

I long EUR/USD @ a not so good Price 1.3135 sweat.gif doh.gif , now hoping it rally above 1.3173.

Limit another @ 1.3148 (after 1.3145)

Where are the hedgers? come on!

I close that not so good position with minor loss and long another one @ much lower price. After all the Spread is just 1.2 only.

The 1.3080 seems to be a very good support. Anything break below 1.306x will be a disaster

Good for you .. let's see some action this evening.
*

It seems to recover from the fall, but it is still lack of strength to climb up.
QUOTE(hunt17 @ Mar 7 2007, 07:26 PM)
looks like markets r no good to trade...
like luqmanz said.. its triangular shape for now...
*

Well these thing normally happen after the end of a sharp 90 degree drop/up. Most of the time I see this after dropping. But u can grab some over buy or over sold position if you are trading a longer term.

The triangle ends, now it is bullish.

EDIT : the 1.3236/40 is a very tough resistant.

I close my position and take profit yest midnight already. smile.gif Take first, dont greed. tongue.gif

now I'm looking for another long.

@ the current price 1.317x, it doesn't sound a good buy to me. Look at the chart, it is possible to have a minor fall.

I'm waiting to long @ 1.315x/60.

If it doesn't go down. Never mind, I'll look for a short above 1.3220/60. It is better to lose an opportunity than losing money.

if the broker is from US and Swiss, should we pay tax to them?

hi luqmanz, any recommend for good borker? rclxms.gif
*

I'm not sure about swiss broker. But for USA, all foreign investor income are tax exempted and income generated from oversea is tax free for Malaysia. So basically if you get what you earn.
