Hi guys, i am using a windows 8.1 notebook.

I would leave my desktop out of this but is it worth to upgrade to windows 10? Any major problems or bugs? I heard several complain from friends of it auto sync update.

I am having doubts whether to upgrade or not

Nothing major from my experience... Just that some inconsistencies here and there like control panel and settings app... In terms of bugs and functionality, I would say everything checks out.

I would say, try to read and educate yourself about privacy issues in Windows 10. It is a real issue and some people might not be comfortable. I myself dont feel like it really is a major concern for me but it is still a real issue...

Well the only thing i dislike for windows 10 is the auto update which you cant disable it. For notebook, i think you will be enjoy upgrading it, there're gesture to play around with your touchpad now thumbup.gif

definitely worth it
as for the bugs, Microsoft pushs out updates very frequently to fix it
average at least one update in one week, all cumulative updates
it's just getting better and better on both my tablet and laptop

Go to upgrade to Windows 10. The reviews from users are above average. 6/7 out of 10.

If you have a netbook, quite a headache to use since you cannot disable the auto update. it will just download the update in the background and install it whether you want it or not. My netbook is so resource limited that every time update come it will lag so badly. I wish it could be differed to our timing and hope no more fiasco in auto update like corruption due to faulty update file.

From my experience, Dell laptops - one from 2013 and Alienware 2015 - both had no problems upgrading from Windows 8.1. So its an improvement - most issues I had with Win8.1 are solved in Win10.

On the desktop with Windows 7 and motherboard with overclocked CPU from 2009 (meaning stuck only with Win7 chipset drivers) - no lag, no bugs, performs well BUT I have BSOD, corrupt component store (sfc /scannow) - I think Win10 is more fussy with this kind of setup. I've disabled overclocking and seeing if it helps...

For those on Win7 with older motherboards with overclocked CPU, proceed with caution.

I had installed win10 in my asus a43s lappy. The first problem i got was the unstable wireless adapter driver. Because of this problem, I decided to revert back to win8.1.

I have 3 laptops and 2 desktops which are running on win8.1. I think the only major advantage of win10 over win8.1 was the multi-desktop, the notification tab at the right hand side, windows aero and the new-look start menu.

Maybe all of win8.1 users gets annoyed with the tile-style menu. But there is an alternative to avoid users from seeing the tile-menu at the startup. You can install third-party software for start menu such as 'stardock start menu'. Then, you can enjoy win8.1 the same way as win7. For gadget third-party apps, you can download 'rainmeter 3.2.1'.

The Windows Update for win8.1 is more of the same as win7. I don't really like the new style of Windows Update in win10 as I cannot choose which which update I want to install/uninstall. Things I like about win10 are the notification bar and the multi-desktop..

I decided to wait for some time to upgrade to win10 so then the win10 gets stable.
