nie ada nak tanya sikit pasal ikan gupy aku, memule dulu setup 2 kaki aquarium + pokok hidup, problem bila bnyak campor2 beli dr kedai berlainan dah kene white spot.

##biasanye ikan baru beli kene kuarintine dululah, dah pasti tak sakit baru letak  same ikan lame lo.... ada tukar air aquarium?air  dalam juga kena tukar dan tambah selalu, bisanye  1/3 per week air lama dibuang di ganti dengan air yang sudah di condition lo

pastu dah buang semua ikan + air dan semua dlm tu dah di cuci baik2 punya, then beli ikan lagi, semuanya ok, lepas seminggu ikan mula stat mati, sebelum mati sirip 'tangan' yang dekat insang tu sebelah x boleh gerak macam cacat/sakit then mesti ikan tu mati, kiranya tiap2 hari dah jadi mati, makin kurang dah ikan tu, macam mana nak mengubat dan apa penyakitnya macam tu ?

chemistry air belum stabil lah tu berapa lama u cycle air aquarium ni??ada test chemistry atau bio dulu? 

if nak setup dr mula apa yang sebaik2nya nak topop dalam aquarium tu supaya semua ikan sehat dr mula? harap dpt lah tolong hya,, pk pk nak bela ikan lain tapi sayang pulak sebab mmg lawa gupy nie + pulak suka tgk kalau dah beranak dan membiak. ok tu ajer nak cerite, terima kasih ya 

tambah garam ? nie baru 1st time dengar tambah garam hehehe, yg jd masalahnya lepas seminggu baru problem, pastu berturut2 mati 3-4 ekor sehari

anyone got female guppies want to give away? i want 1-2 female guppy fish if possible near sunway or summit. & which is the easiest water plant to manage? i mean like dont need sunlight(normal light at home is enough) & no need co2 & etc....

wow im nt into guppy that much i jus have fancy guppies the male ones red tail that kind.. I used to have snakeskin though but many of them died dunno why... Now i have 2 males and damn many female... I let them breed on their own normally 1 batch about 5 will survive so its not overcrowding the tank.. watching them grow is fun

what do you guys fed your guppies? which is the best brand & food for them? & do you guys fed them treats? if yes what & which brand? i know there are treats such as shrimps & worms but its hard to buy alive ones...do they sell dry dead ones? would like to know what you guys fed them & which is the best you feel for guppies to eat

Hey guys~ Good news! My female guppy just gave birth to more than 20 fries yesterday!! (How cool is that?)

So my nano tank is now looking a bit crowded but Im planning to move them to somewhere else when they get bigger.

So what do the fries eat? How do I feed them? Currently Im giving my guppy those micro sand-like fish food.

without d oxygen pump they seemed to die faster..... 

the "pond" is a shallow dish actually. under 1ft at the deepest point.

yes, we use antichlorine.  we hv even tried letting the water "stand" for a day before putting the fish in...

Hello, new here. I for one breed guppies for my industrial training. Regarding the water quality and space, it's all in good order. Ive given life feed ie microworm and bloodworm and flakes as well. So far it's going well, and have given birth up to 150 fries.

But, now after nearly a month, most of females died, leaving only the males (1m:2f in a DIY hapa-like breeding pen). I'm suspecting myriads of causes of death, which include:

Inbreeding: will make the strains naturally weaker and die
inbreeding doesn't makes ur fish weaker generally in 1-2 generation. inbreeding will only cost deformities if the fish u pick have deformities genes. inbreeding is widely used in guppy breeding to fix a strains when the fish parental is unknown

Early breeding: usually guppies are left to breed after 3-4 months, but some can breed early. Early breeding might shortens its lifespan
yes early breeding does shortens the guppy lifespan. some deformities (bent spine) only show up when fish getting mature.  tat why its better to starts breeding at 3-4 month time. weakness in early breeding  can be compassionate with good husbandry and nutrition to prolong the females guppy lifespan

High level of nitrites: this I didn't check in my breeding pens
put some plant in the breeding pens like water sprite this can help lower the nitrites level to acceptance level. at the sometimes  provide food and hiding place for small fry

Stock from local fish store: I got my guppies mostly from Jalan Pasar at RM1 each. Well, that is the most feasible location for me as AI located in Subang is quite far. Nevertheless, AI got quite lovely guppies for an affordable price range.

Lacking of beneficial bacteria: I could use some pointers regarding this if you guys wouldn't mind to share.
u can set up a filter system or have under gavel to increase the beneficial bacteria level. either can have them cycle slowly nor speed up the bio load with conditioner. there are many brand off bio conditioner to choose for ur convenience at lfs just ask the seller and do more research .


Do correct me, I'm quite lacking in experience and needed skill in culturing ornamental fish.

Thanks for your reply maxtee. I think I figured the cause of death for my guppies: stock from local fish store. I reckon they're old guppies. As for today which is nearly 3 months, I've tried culturing the remaining fries which in turn turned into adults and already reproduce. It seems they don't have any mortality yet, and they reproduce like there is no tomorrow, haha
