some shop may try to sell u SAE (Siamese algae eater), but stick to otos if you have a choice.
SAE can become lazy and just share food with your guppies.

but i tot they need soil or gravel?
r they easy to take care?

no need soil/gravel.. they wont get much bigger than guppies, and are very shy fish..
you'll see them sucking away algaes on different surfaces most of the time.

SAE grow very big at one point. Also i'm not sure they will leave the guppy fries alone if your guppies ever give birth. Best take Otto, as they tend to be around 1 inch plus and they are herbivore. This i tried before, even baby shrimp that is 1mm big won't be issue just the issue with otto is they like to dash like bullet when frightened which almost happen always...

SAE seems ok with fries, never seen them bothering my molly fries.. and yes they can grow up to 2 inches long. mine is very fat with rounded bellies because they were feasting on the fish food instead of algaes.

Good to hear that your SAE doing good then most don't. Because had bad experience with them and already ban them from my fish tank except if i'm planning to put them with much bigger fish.

hmm.. mine's being acting well, never bothered my guppies, goldfish, mollies and tetras in the same tank. only observe they'll chase among themselves, as in SAE chasing SAE. they may have mistaken the otos as one of them, and sometime tried to chase it, but the Otos will get out of the way without fuss..
