Inbreed is not as bad as it seems and it's probably the easiest way to fix a trait into a lineage when you've perform an outcross...normally inbreeding effects become more prominent when you've selected parent stocks with hidden negative traits. Inbreeding is suppose to amplify the positive traits or genes you wanted into your line but if you've accidentally selected a parent stock with some hidden negative traits and genes therefore it'll be amplified as well.
Line breeding, selective breeding are all variation of inbreeding and involve breeding among siblings (brother to sister, mum to son, dad to daughter, cousin to cousin) It's a neccessity if you want to fix certain traits into you lineage meaning to say all offsprings inherits the gene or traits you've breed into the line. Besides that it'll also improve the percentage of purity of your line meaning how many percentage of the offsprings look exactly like the parents...in other words in order to create a strain (new colour or new tail type) you need to have at least 70-80% of offsprings that breeds true and inbreeding is the easiest way to do it.
Maybe for normal hobbyists it is not really that important but for breeder that breeds for show (show guppy, betta, discus, gold fish n etc) it's an unavoidable process.
