I went to Matta fair and the koreans there asked me to visit the state : Chungcheongbuk-do (the national parks)

Seoul - I will visit this place in thruly, as i will stay there 1 week (while my gf having her class in uni)

lastly, I'm planning to shoot lots of photo there.. so nice sceneries are really welcomed biggrin.gif

There are of course. It depends on individuals liking and preference. like historical places, theme park, shopping center, musuem, downtown, performance, club, mountain. So which suits your liking more? I guess you would probably check out at least three or four of them.

Korea is a modern country yet it still remains fiercely traditional. You can visit palaces like Gyeongbukgung, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, Changdeokgung etc. Personally, I have only been to Gyeongbukgung, you can watch the guards changing ceremony. There is also a musuem beside. Check out the Namdaemun gate and Dongdaemun gate if you like photo shooting.

Theme park I would suggest Lotte World and Everland. Lotte world has indoor and outdoor parks, it also has ice skating rink, more or less like the one in pyramid. Just bigger in term of size. Everland consists of 5 themes. The t-express roller coaster is located at european adventure. You can find out more yourself.

As for shopping, it depends on what type of goods you are looking for. It can be very expensive or very affordable when shopping in Korea. Try Coex, Migliore, Lotte Department Store and Shinsaegae for high-end goods. If you are looking for unique clothing designs and accessories by designers, check out Cheongdam and Apgujeong street. Also, I would recommend Myeongdong if you like to shop with the crowd, you can find relatively affordable and expensive goods there. Of course, for a good deal, head to Dongdaemun and Namdaemun market. Dongdaemun is famous for wholesale, I heard from a Korean friend, she said all the goods sold in Korea, whether online or retail, all comes from Dongdaemun. However, go there at the right time. It is more expensive in the afternoon but cheaper at night, midnight. It's 24hours open anyways. Try underground shopping, you can find it in most places, Gangnam for example.

Go to Insadong and Samziegil if you have never been there. The things sold there aren't that cheap either, as it targets foreigners. Itaewon is famous for clubs, most of the foreigners and English speaking Koreans socialise there. For ladies, maybe you want to check out Ahyeon-dong wedding street. Hongik, Ehwa women university street and Yonsei street also popular among youngsters.

If you like parks, go to Namsan Park. Namsan tower and 63 City at Yeuido offer nice view too. Hangang river is a popular spot, you can cycle or rollerbalde, rental service is available. At night, you can take a walk at Cheonggyecheon stream.

Food wise, try out as many local delicacies as possible. Good exposure for your taste bud. Like it or not. Ha.

I have only been to Korea once in July, summer there is still cooler than KL somehow. Perhaps it's more windy there. Winter, no idea. Plan to go there in Jan again to ski. See first.

I would encourage all to visit Jeju and Busan city. Busan is famous with Haeundae beach. Many seagulls. As for Jeju, preferably not to visit in winter.

All said. If you have any inquiries about how to get there and its location, find out yourself. Try the official site of Korea Tourism Organisation. Go google. GOodbye.

i think korea is a place that most people go with their partner (gf/bf)

i personally think that it will be quite sad to go alone..that's the reason why i haven't had the thought of going although i know it's a nice place. For couples, i think it would be a great holliday destination.

No. I dont think I'd totally agree with your statement. In fact, it can be quite fun to travel alone at times. You never know what opportunity may arises from it. One can opt to stay at backpackers hostel and this increases one's chance to meet many like-minded travellers from all over the world. I would suggest Banana Backpackers or Seoul Backpackers. The price is relatively affordable compared to hotels, the staffs there are very friendly and helpful, and so are the travellers there. In fact, I travelled all by myself to Seoul for once. I was so excited about it and I got to meet many people and made many new friends as well, a wonderful memory I would never forget. ( :

Of course, it would be better if one has some friends there to guide one through. If not, get a volunteer guide. There are plenty and you can find them online.

So go and explore the world. There is so much fun awaiting for you !

walao here suddenly feel like travel agent service.

anyway, to xacrifizer, food is definately on the higher side compared to in Malaysia... an average - cheap meal would cost you about 3000 won (Cheapest i think) which is about RM 9.. road side stalls are cheaper but not a proper sit down eat meal lor..

shopping..cosmetics are VERY cheap ! like Skinfood, faceshop and others. The price is maybe half of what the price in Malaysia is.

transportation... im not sure about seoul because i haven't been there.. but i heard that you use a card called TMoney and can be recharged (add money) any time... if im not wrong per swipe would cost you 1000won for a certain amount of distance.. then when you go past that limit they will charge you extra maybe 200 won or more.

@Santana,

one night in Seoul in a motel / love room / guest house would probably cost you 18,000 -40,000 depending on which type of room you want.

the others such as public transport and food depends on where n what kind so its difficult to estimate. Maybe take up a tour package would be easier?

hope it was helpful :S its just based on my research i have done for my trip in january.
^^ + the experience i've stayed in Busan for 4 months ..

It will be interesting to know how is your experience to travel in Korea, where are the good deals to get.
Is travel agency or the online booking better?
Have a good trip.

I have been staying in Korea for 120 days. =) Just got back last Sunday. Very cold weather now to go hiking or anything like that. Ski - can't be better at this time.

Interesting places : Seoul, Gyeongju, Busan/Pusan, Jeju-Do, Suwon (Everland).

I have been to : Seoul, Gongju, Daejeon, Gyeongju, Cheongju, Busan, Jeju-Do, Muju (For Skiing) and Suwon.

If u are backpacking, please be prepared to learn some survival Korean before going there. People there speak no English and no Chinese. Only Korean. Even simple sentences of English they cannot understand. Be prepared to order food in Korean. 90% of the menus in the restaurants are in Korean.

Food to recommend : Streetfood, Kamja Tang, Sam gyeop sal, Galbi Tang, Yuk gae chang, Pu Tae Chi Gae, Jim Dakk, Sam Gye Tang etc etc etc. Can't name them all.
