Nobody is denying u the simple luxuries and necessities of life.  Books - go for it! The occasional metrosexual treatment - go for it!

However, my point is simply this - considering u do not have any investments and commitments, and are still learning - your savings rate should be much, much, much, much, much higher vs. the avg Joe.

that's it.

Haha. Ya, you are right. Now really need to improve my savings, I really feel paiseh when i compared my saving to my friend whose income is far more lower than me.
Oredi keep track of my expenses with expensr for past few days, hopefully i can keep it going. Then i should have more sounding data/facts to see how could i do better. But oso try to reduce expenses on luxuries lo. smile.gif

Hmm.... earning i think ok kua, there is still a lot of people earning more. It's our responsibility to contribute to family ma. Now bachelor life still no prob, later dunno lo, haha. I think may be need to setup some passive income for parents, if possible.

Ya, we can do the standing instruction manually. At least i know it's easy to be done at Maybank2u, anyway, RM 2 is charged on each transaction!

I think mnhma means how he can settle the loan early.

@mnhma,

use your balance RM350 to settle the loan. Maybe instead of 250 a month make it 500 a month. then i think you can settle within 9 mths and after that start saving biggrin.gif

During recession, many people may feel scare and afraid to try something, for e.g they scare to do job hunting and scare to take risk and go through probation period even there have some better opportunity for them...

But, for me, i will try to take this risk and always try and increase my income from time to time...if ur income didnt increase, then it's hard for u to survive since inflation issue happen from time to time..

So, wat do u think the most suitable income for normal people to survive ? consider about car loan, housing loan, get marriage, feed son and daughter....

I would not do that since paying 250 monthly can settle the loan eventually. It is better to start saving all the 350 or do some mini investment. Just my opinion though....as I like to leverage from others whenever there's opportunity

There's nothing such as good time or bad time. Or whether price is high or price is low. When you invest now, it might go deeper. You never know. Just keep on investing your disposable income, then few years down the road, you can see the harvest. If you read from my blog also, I never say anything on good or bad time. In this time, people still make money, people still lose money. During bull run, there are people losing money as well. It is how you invest. If you want to wait till it bottom, then it could take you forever, or by the time you think it is stable, the whole economy recover 20-30%. Just invest whenever you feel like it, with your DISPOSABLE income. Just my opinion though

Im totally agree with the saving of all the Rm350 but i do not agree to explore mini investment at this time. Its because of your limited savings that you have. My simple principle is CASH is KING!!!!...I do believe a lot people tends to bump all their money at once to their commitment debt, hence left out a little of cash savings & which is very dangerous if anything happens. Whatever that you bump out cannot convert into cash.

Just my opinion...

Zenwell!!!!

then try harder to find one...wish you good luck... tongue.gif

Well, if you really do some research, you can get bargain in this time. Saving will only make your money losing its value in the long run, though I agree that we need to save as well, just in case we are out of job. Other than that, investment is always better than savings, provided you know how to invest

IMHO - CASH IS TRASH

for my mrs and myself - we only have 2 cash buffers:

1. 3 months reserve for any contingencies.
2. 2 months reserve of rental for each property we own.

The rest are 100% planted into properties, properties, properties and just a tiny bit into stocks.

Personally, I feel that cash is way too over-rated. I feel insecure when my cash balance goes too high by the way.
