Any fans of tactical games or turn base strategy?

here's a game i discovered recently thats slowly growing in it's competitive scene. It started out as a MMORPG and later got made into a board game..now its both a board game and an online game which you could play.

Check out Krosmaster Arena. oh yea...it also has a animated series called Wakfu

Are there specific gears that I need to get before considering recording my gameplays?

And what program do you guys use to record your videos? I tried using fraps before and it costs me gigs of disk space, causing me to worry whether if I have enough space to store them.

Gears? For PC..nothing much..except your pc and headset haha..well..that's a starting point..but if you have the cash to splurge..get a mic..a webcam or video cam..

For my PS4 videos..I started off using a very tedious method..

I use the LiveStream feature available..stream it to YouTube..then download the video file and trim it using Windows Movie maker..

Recently bought a capture box (Avermedia Gamer Portable) to record my PS4 videos..and as for video editing..I'm now using a free software called Lightworks..limited to 720p60fps..any higher and more feature you'd have to purchase

Software I'm currently using OBS for pc games..no webcam for me yet though..gonna test record using my DSLR soon xP

I'd recommend getting an external HDD for recording..because you'd want to record sharp and good video quality..and it requires a large storage..mine is set to a decent quality and a 30-min video can be as big as 2+GB

It's abit random the games i play but i'm still looking into which way i need to go. So Far Mechwarrior Online is the direction i'm focusing on, since they give me the most views. Except for the DayZ fix.

I think the audio levels are a bit inconsistent. Your voice is pretty soft in the latest video. In terms of content I think your Mechwarrior videos do better because it's a niche. Not as many people do videos on it. It's a perfectly fine strategy to focus your new videos on that. You need to practise you presentation. Be more natural and clearer. That's all I can think of now.

Thanks for your Comment Frag. I have been trying to make it clearer - I have figured i don't sound natural but i have been trying to improve.

Yeap that's what I meant. Each video audio levels very different. And the latest one is to soft. Totally understand. I'm super busy with work as well. I find that commentary on the fly, that's when you record the video and audio together while you're playing the game to be much harder. You have to be pretty good to do that. That's why videos with narration are great for practising your commentary. Since you can read your script and improve it, listen where you're weak and keep improving. Once you've aced that you can naturally move into commentary on the fly. That's my humble opinion though.

Because the key is to allow yourself to listen to yourself. And see where you can improve. It's sort of like practising a speech really.

You can google for voice over tips. The basics are the same as recording VO for commercials etc. See what you can learn from professional VOs. Like this for instance:

Lastly, have fun. If learning, improving and refining your craft brings great satisfaction to you, you're on the right path.

PS: I'm learning as well. Trying to also make my narration clearer and better.

I used to do that but the background noise is annoying to record and sometimes hard to remove it. I have no quiet space even in my man cave. Wife & Kids always kacau when i make the videos. And i'm a very forgetful person so i move to script when reviewing something.

Gonna get a new headset that can eliminate the background sound so i can return to recording on the fly. My first few videos were like that when i was using my G35 headset.

When you say background noise, you mean other people's voice? That is a bit more work to remove. You can try headset with noise cancellation but I always find noise cancellation muffles the sound a bit. But maybe there are headsets that can do this well.

Yes and also static Noise. Yes it does muffle the sound but G35 was good but i just found another headset and i'm gonna test it out next month. I don't want to mention the name cause if i'm wrong i don't want to be recommending it until i try it.

Well i'm gonna try to make my next video clearer but we'll see. To have a proper clear voice setup cause a lot of money that i can't spend it.

Can i know your vocal audio recording gear your using?

IMO intro is not necessary to be that long, for people who always watch your vid will always skip your intro. Keep up the great works!

I’m using the Alctron brand but I can’t really find the model no. though, so my best guess is, it’s definitely not the latest version out there in the market.
Thought I also add in that I’m using Audacity for my audio editing purpose.
It’s a really comprehensive software.

Maybe because I was on headphones instead of speakers? Just give it another go and see see..not really max..but my usual hearing volume on my headphones

Ok I might know what you're talking about. But it's super faint and very hard to notice. I don't think I can do anything about it. My microphone recording has a lot of static and the little that's left at the background when I speak is hardly audible to me. But I know it's there. The more higher the value I use noise removal via software the more muddled my voice sounds. So it's a bit of a balance. Anyway I know I'll need a new mic for recording... but I'm making do with what I have right now... for a few months at least.

Hey guys and gals, just wanted to ask what file format do you convert your videos to before uploading to YouTube?



This is my latest video with my new mic. I'm quite pleased with the overall quality. But the video quality I believe could be better (especially in the beginning, maybe that part was a movie file and not ingame... i don't really know) and I'm sick so I sounded a little raspy at some point. Any idea what's the optimal format to be used with YouTube? As always, any feedback is much appreciated.

I always use mp4 because overall seems fine for me, but I didn't really go experience many other format.

Yeah I believe MP4 is the most optimal. Other formats might have problem with YouTube. Also, there is a difference in sound after it is uploaded on YouTube... it is very marginal but there is a difference. I use Facebook video too and that has quite different sound after upload... it's more treble'ey.

I go back and forth between MP4 & H.264 although the 2 belongs to 1 big family, MPEG-4.
Somehow, the former seems to take up more space compared to the latter and quality wise, I can’t really tell the difference; hence, my preference of using both of them, depending on what video I’m working on.
