1. Preferred Brand - Not particularly inclined on HP/Asus coz my last HP died on me/Asus well known for bad after sales in M'sia. Opens to suggestions if the product is good.
2. Budget - RM 3,000 for now. Unwilling to part more currently but if the argument is convincing enough, I'll consider.
3. Usage - Desk diving ( Excel, words, specialized software for accounting / related ), Entertainment ( Spotify, movies & related ) and mild gaming ( Rarely, but would prefer it to be capable to game, but least of my importance since I don't have time. ) 4. Preferred -
a. Lightweight and sturdy built ( Move around a lot ) b. 14 inches preferred as 15 inches are usually larger and heavier. c. Decent screen and backlit keyboard is a must. Don't care bout speakers as I am plugged into my headphones all the time.
Will add when I can remember.

QUOTE(myway1985 @ Sep 3 2015, 12:27 PM) u wan backlit ah... inspiron 7447 lo.. 2.4kg too bad u dun hv budget for xps 13 2015 Got budget. Don't want spend 6k for a laptop only. I can only claim tax 3k.... Cough up another 3k just for backlit and touch screen is plain crazy. 2,4kg not that bad la. A bit heavy but as long as the power supply unit is not like my old Alienware, doable la. Inspiron 7447 comes with 4GB ram only by default? I was browsing Dell's website thou. Not yet check lowyat for better pricing.

QUOTE(DS_Legacy @ Sep 3 2015, 02:50 PM) You can consider this model. Around RM2.6k. However, there are models without backlit one. You have to reconfirm with the dealer before purchase. Hope this helps. Lenovo U41-70 80JV0047MJ 14" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-5200U, 256GB SSD, 4GB, NV GT920M, W8.1) Finally, something that is not Dell or Illegear Am looking at this model but am thinking about after sales service of Lenovo. Any review about that? I heard it was terrible.

QUOTE(DS_Legacy @ Sep 3 2015, 04:01 PM) The after sales service is bad if compare to Dell/Illegear. A Lenovo user here. So far, only met a problem once in 3 years. And they took almost 3 weeks to replace the wifi adapter for me. However, the laptop quality is still good imho, but still, there are complains abut lemon products. So, think wisely before buying yea. Which is why I am not inclined to get a Lenovo despite it's awesome specs to price ratio. QUOTE(myway1985 @ Sep 3 2015, 04:14 PM) Read again.. xps 15 1.88kg punya 15inch Itu 1g cost MYR 3.09 weh.... Nvm la, let me look at inspiron for now. Takmau spend 6k just like that

QUOTE(alien9 @ Oct 2 2015, 11:11 AM) Thanks for replying! I do understand that there is a quite a price difference between the standard resolution and the FHD but what I don't understand is that why they are using 860m but with 1366x768 resolution? Back to my laptop requirement. Do you have any other recommendation for me? Lenovo U41?

QUOTE(DS_Legacy @ Oct 2 2015, 12:18 PM) Good thing about full SSD is that you will never look back on HDD. Precisely. 15 seconds boot up are awesome. QUOTE(alien9 @ Oct 2 2015, 12:20 PM) Sorry for noob question. AMD MESO XT > GT920m? I dont think there's an option to add in another HDD right? Like change the optical drive slot to a HDD slot. Get an external one then. Small matter, really.

QUOTE(alien9 @ Oct 4 2015, 12:33 AM) I checked lenovo z51 and apparently most lenovo laptop have this 'matte' @ dull kind of screen which I don't think will work well for photo editing. I checked a review about this z51 and it have below average color score. Do you have any other recommendation? Think of more towards Mac book screen but not a mac book and not that expensive (within my requirement) Hope you guys can help. Appreciate it Well.... Hook it up to a monitor. Or. You get more money in.

QUOTE(signora bianca @ Oct 4 2015, 10:06 AM) thanks for reply. since SSD cost will higher so no limit on budget. any brands you can recommend? Honestly, without knowing your usage, I'll just suggest you the most expensive 1TB SSD that is bundled on earth for just for fun If you want better recommendation to save your money, go state your purpose. I'd reckon a MacBook 15" with 1 TB SSD. That way you can dual boot Mac and Windows since budget's not a concern

QUOTE(signora bianca @ Oct 5 2015, 06:48 AM) thanks for info. kinda new to this so unsure of what to ask; here goes - core usage would be lots of office use - word, ppt, excel and internet; no games for sure. what would the cheapest SSD laptop available be? price? at a limit of 3K. At that kinda range, Lenovo U-41 would be the best bet. If you're into office, I'd reckon a Mac. Been using one for office purposely solely, it's awesome that way. Durability's great and it's pretty much as reliable as it can get. Drawback would be the pricing. Cheapest one starts at 4K++
