I installed the plate only, without LED. Refer pic below, haven't tear the blue plastic protector top yet.
I prefer the door light This one require wiring to the door module (forgot what name, CAN bus ?) and some VCDS setting.

Several ways you can wire your door sill. I guess it should be default 12V input.
1) Not the best, but run the wires under carpet or bottom door sill, tap to the cigarette lighter or fuse box (driver side dashboard after you open door). Always on when you switch on the car.
2) Tap to the footwell lighting. Only on when the footwell also lights on. But at night, will be always on (?).
3) Tap to the door CAN-bus, need to run the wire through the bottom door sill, into door. Only on when door is open, similiar like my door lights above. May need VCDS. And tools to open the door panel. Most labour intensive among all.

If you cut any wires, it may affect warranty for that part/area. In my case, wire plug into CAN-bus, I can pull out and dismantle, to put back original door-reflector.

Saw there are few units of pre-reg Passat and golf advertising in mudah stated unused with completely new condition... Can anyone advise whether these car are worth to buy?

Actually im decided to buy a Passat, but was found some pre-reg units are advertising in the Mudah.com with attractive price. Was wonder is it a good deal to get a pre-reg unit ...

Just another thought that came to mind... don't rule out cars with high mileage. 15-20,000 km per year is good; that means the car has spent little time in a workshop. I can't imagine there are many who would buy a Golf TSI as a "weekend" car.

I got the Jetta for a week as courtesy car. The interior is abit dull and boring. If I'm not wrong, it's hard plastic bro. But compared to the Passat, it is less prone to rattling. Overall, the performance will put a smile in your face
