I heard from outlet manager that 1.4 TSI in Jetta / Golf and Tiguan are different.

DQ200 of pre 2014 is the one that made VW name notorious.
Some 1.4 also suffer from cracked piston?

Guys, do you use battery desulfator? Nanopulser / Infinitum Desulfator

It is to extend the battery life, plan to get one but would it be easy to plug and play?

the first battery was claimed under warranty, after 1year and 4 months (that's short, probably caused by the light on before/after engine start features)
VW doesn't cover the second battery warranty.

It's not Voltage Stabilizer, but it "desulphor" the battery

SC quoted original light bulb RM800 for Passat.

Any aftermarket light bulb is as good as original? At cheaper price. Is Passat headlight prone to failure?
My friend's passat original light bulb also kaput after 1 year plus.

It is 2013, got it for 83k

was selling for 220k at that time right?

DQ250 should be fine. Solid car with 4motion

I guess battery would be the one that always fail first.

Is this TSI or 2.0 turbo engine?

currently looking for Jetta but salesperson inform that there is pre-reg Passat at almost same price range.

Yet to have chance to test drive on Passat, but can passat owner advise how's the maintenance cost different from Jetta?

is that monthly budget ~RM2k (for installment/insurance/maintenance) suffice to own a Passat?
*
first, 2 / 5 / 9 years installment?

Hi, plan 7 yrs
*
secondly, how much down payment ?

Joke aside, you got the answer right?

first 3 years free maintenance, how long you want to keep the car? after 3 years, if go VW to service, consider installment is about RM1700, IMO a budget of RM2K all in left RM300 to upkeep a car is a bit optimistic.

reliability wise, no comment as so far in my opinion is working fine. those stuff that i encountered i would say petty things that not going to cause to breakdown in the middle of road. claimed under warranty and no money unnecessarily burnt here.

customer service, in my personal opinion, it's good (so far). these people are humans, so sometimes it depends on how does people interact with them.
used to deal with Suzuki service center, Hyundai Sime Darby service center, Ford Sime Darby service center, all were in-general pleasant experience. all these brand in general have pretty bad feedback from Malaysian.
at least whatever (for all these sc including VW) request, complaint or nit picking (especially for VW), they attended my request well.

for my B8, i changed to Varta battery outside, unfortunately ngam2, 1 year (mere 25k mileage) it dies on me (despite im using Varta Silver Dynamic AGM which should be good for 2-3 years as stock EFB banner battery in B8 last for 45k/1year10months), the seller claim due to my car alternator issue, i brought back the car to SC and asked them to check and share some report so that i can counter back to the battery seller. they attended well without cost.

above just 1 example out few. so, the message is, for me, whatever people perspective or impression for certain brand (regardless of brand), i just take it as FYI and reference but didnt put much weight on it (unless catastrophic cases and case by case situation) as my past experience with all these problematic or unimpressive customer service from other people's input does not translate to my own personal experience. =)

just enjoy the car, cheers.  smile.gif

Did you get the claim for Varta AGM eventually?

Does anyone have any experience with the VW Sharan circa 2012? Used prices are very attractive. Any major issues encountered/ known?

yup, I guess no other VANs drive like a Sharan at this range, not the old Alphard or Estima, not sure about Toyota Caldina
