Hi guys. I plan to buy either mk5 gti or mk6 gti. Which one is better on terms of reliability ? And i know mk5 gti is old. If mk5, i plan to buy year 2008 model. Is it still reliable after almost 10 years ? if not, is mk6 reliable ?

So far bullet proof. I was in your position wanting a used Mk 5, then i saw mk 6 pricing not bad and dropping to 100k. Bought it last year (with some warranty left) and dont regret it.

WTA - anyone here replaced their stock headunit? If yes with what? So far I've seen Dynavin, Blaupunkt 835 and Kenwood DNX535VBT. Any other models or recommendation?

Hi Sifus,

I am not sure if this is a common problem or am I the unlucky one

I just got the POLO 2016 1.6L like 2 month+ ago it was all ok and up until now, I can hear from both passenger and drivers side when on bumpy road, you can hear the windows rattling with your door

When I am driving on smooth road or fast, no sound can be heard.

As you know, Malaysian roads are quite screwed up and full of unnessary not smooth roads, can this be the effect of my windows rattling?

The sound is getting annoying, however, if driving fast or listening to music, this sound can be ignored.

Any help is much appreciated

Try this: there are 2 rubber stoppers at the back of your hatch. Take a size 3 hex/allen key, slot into the centre of the rubber and unscrew. pull it out 2-3mm each time and close the hatch for a good fit. If you're happy with the fit, tighten the screw to lock the rubber stoppers in.

That might stop the rattling and may not be your windows.

I accidentally bumped into this fix when I wasnt happy with what my repair workshop did AFTER fixing my rear end. I was knocked from behind by a Myvi on NKVE and after the repairs my rear hatch felt loose. After searching I fixed it and now am super happy.Allen keys can be purchased for around RM10 at your local Ace Hardware / Handyman store.

I know i'm going to get sloshed for this but, it's so strange for people to compare Honda or Toyota for a VW. They may look similar on paper but the driving experience is very different. I get the after-sales-service and cost concern, but in terms of drivability alone it's really different. The better design results in tighter drive, better response, predictability and safety.

If folks are comparing against another Euro like Peugeot or Citroen then maybe, yeah that's a closer comparison.

Anyone has experiencing fixing roof cloth, it started sagging sad.gif

Yes i've replaced mine (2012 Golf Mk 6 GTI). The front edge near windscreen started to come apart and certain parts were sagging. Covered under warranty. Takes few weeks to order and ship but once it arrives SC will call you and replace it within 2-3 days.

So far more than 1 year already, good stuff.

May I know total cost + labour,  mine already start sagging ,  out of warranty already

Apologies @nomar, missed your question earlier.

My VW was under warranty then, so everything was covered. SC did say it costs a few '000 and had to be ordered from Germany, ship to Singapore, then to KL. Takes about 3-4 weeks so pre-order first
