QUOTE(outpace @ Aug 27 2015, 08:38 PM) Guys, after service, would the engine turn to black really fast, I mean real fast like less than 100KM after oil change. Color dont mean anything.SC told me that it's normal. Googled a bit on web, it's very common for diesel engine, but petrol engine? 1.4TSI is a twin charge engine right? ![]() On the right is the new oil from the bottle ( Castrol Edge Fully Synthetic), the dark oil on left was from the engine 1 day after the oil change. Normal? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The most important is the viscocity of the oil. It could turn into dark color because it might have carbon deposit inside your engine or maybe mixture of left over from previous oil change because it cannot drain 100%... |

QUOTE(outpace @ Sep 2 2015, 11:07 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Viscocity? I think I can only use my finger to press the oil and feel the stickiness or roughness (presence of metal) of the engine oil. Any other better and convenient method to suggest? Is there too much of carbon deposit considering its millage was less than 15K? Best option is to drain the oil, top up again... can do outside, no need go back to SC for interim service. |

Replacing battery can be done by anyone.
Taking out the existing battery without engine start is OK. Last time i also kena CON by SC saying after replacing battery need diagnostic bla bla bla but actually not required. The setting will back to last setting after your car run for few KM. I know this, because i did this before. |

QUOTE(ladiesman217 @ Jan 6 2016, 11:29 AM) Hmm this was my worry too. If the car battery is already flat, then no choice have to change and go sc calibrate. So better to change when it's 'feels' right.... Thanks for the heads up. Your car dont need calibration or setting after you change your battery.U can remove the battery, put new... after travel for 1km, the original setting will auto load. Things might get reset is just trip meter or clock.... |

QUOTE(zweimmk @ Feb 29 2016, 10:34 AM) This is what I know MK6 R is using MK5 2.0 engine + KO4 turboReliability: 1.8, 2.0 EA888 Engine (1st and 3rd gen) - Rock solid, upgrading the spark plugs and ignition coils will allow for greater modification potential. Turbo upgrade: possible without known issues 2.0 EA113 Engine (Golf R mk6, Sirocco R) - As above, rock solid. But may need also upgrade other components such as the fuel delivery system to keep up. 1.4 twin charged - Sensitive engine. More maintenance required. Limited modification potential unless significant upgrades is done to the engine block itself. Turbo upgrade: 1.4 Single charge (MQB platform) - No known issues with the engine. Limited modification potential. 1.2 tsi engine - Not known to have any major issues itself. Limited modification potential DSG7 (DQ200) - known to have mechatronics failure and quick worn clutch plate. Not really known to have any other issues once these items have been replaced other than a worn clutch over time. Mechatronics may still occur but a lot less likely after replacement. DSG6 (DQ250) - Very reliable. The issues that plague the DQ200 do not apply to this transmission Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong This post has been edited by Error404: Mar 3 2016, 11:50 AM |
