the upgrade is considered 2 actions.
- terminate current plan. this will trigger termination clause in which the full commitment fee will still be liable in "last" bill.
- sign-up for replacement plan. this, will entitle you to prorated voice, sms, data calculated till next "first" bill.
if this upgrade is over-the-counter, you'd have to pay the upfront fee for the replacement plan. any extra after the prorate to "first" bill will be carried forward. then you'll have the amount from "last" bill, ....
amount in next bill = upfront of replacement plan - (prorate of replacement plan "first" bill + full amount of previous plan "last" bill + excess use)
since you upgraded via 1111, they just charge you exact prorate since they can't exactly ask you to pay upfront.
amount in next bill = (prorate of replacement plan "first" bill + full amount of previous plan "last" bill + excess use)
so if you have something to do that is equivalent to replacing current plan, do it near to bill date since (i) you are going to be charged full anyway for the previous plan and (ii) reduce the prorate amount from replacement plan by doing. it as near as possible to next bill date.
