QUOTE(kit2 @ Apr 8 2016, 10:07 AM)
happens on all malaysia telcos.

happened to my hotlink when i was transiting in hk. mobile data and data roaming were off. my phone scanned and registered at a host carrier. then immediately my credit disappeared!

my iphone's data counter registered 0 byte. i believe during the process of negotiating and registering with a carrier, some data packets were exchanged.

this is easy money for telcos. this is why all malaysian telcos are forcing auto data roaming upon us with no option to turn it off at the operator end. i have sim cards from hk, indonesia and vietnam and data roaming is not turned on by default.

i suggest we all complain to mcmc to have our telcos stop this auto data roam practice.

very sad case... i was being charged for that amount.. after reported to ocs.. and now waiting approval from celcom to get it waived.. now expecting a call from celcom on this..

while waiting for that.. i outstation again and received the same sms of the amount of being charged.. nothing can do till the statement is out then only can make report again.. really wasting time!

what is the possible reason that being charged for data roaming but phone MOBILE DATA and DATA ROAMING turned off? only using phone calls, sms and wifi. furthermore, to subscribe to data, we need to dial *123# which is RM38/day.

jz an update here for this case, finally got the data roaming charges to be waived and reflected in the next coming bill statement.

are you going to continue to use your celcom in singapore?

Perhaps I will try to turn off LTE on my next trip to sg. In fact I was charged again the same amount few days ago when I was in sg. Cannot make report now because bill statement is not out yet.

Same case with you when I went to Thailand on 9th April.
Data roaming is off, didn't make any call / pick up call / SMS, data is off. Get charged RM38 as well.

Call to CS and keep telling me the same thing "here state you use GRPS data...etc", change my tone a bit only they willing to make a report.

Last year October I went to HK with exactly same setting (didn't turn on airplane mode), but didn't get charge.

I guess Celcom change how their setting this year to become once you've connected to ANY network in oversea, they will charge the RM38, but just my guess anyway.

i been traveled oversea a lot.. only happen on March bill.. also happen on April although bill is not out yet - just received sms said being charged.

Just make sure you are constantly within Digi's 4G coverage as the RM50 plan comes with 5GB all-day quota and 5GB extra on weekends only if you're connected to 4G. Otherwise it will deduct from your all-day quota.
*
means coverage not good and switched to non4g/lte, will not auto-use the 'free' one?

Like some one previously mentioned, the 5 GB are divided into the weekends. If 4 weeks, we only get 1.25Gb per weekend, there is no combination or roll over.  If you don't finish the 1.25gb it is burnt.

Rather take Hotlink Fast 4G plan, the RM50 prepaid plan, anytime better than Celcom45.
